4 Avoid Obst ructions Clear The Working A rea REDUCE THE CHANCE OF KICKBACK S Recognize that kickback c an happen. With a bas ic underst anding of kick back, you can reduc e the element of s urprise which cont ributes t o acci dents. S Never let the moving chain contac t any ob- ject at t he tip of the guide bar.

9 FUEL ING & LUBRICAT ION W ARNING: Remo ve fuel cap slow- ly when ref ueling. FUELING ENGINE This engine is cert ified t o operate on un- leaded gasoline. Before operat ion, gasoline must be mi xed with a good quali ty synt hetic 2-cycle a ir-cool ed engi ne oil designed to be mixed at a rati o of 40:1.
10 S Push t he choke k nob in compl etely (to t he OFF position); pull the st arter rope until the engine start s. OFF FULL CHOKE Choke knob (SIDE VIEW ) S Allow the engine to run for approximately 5 seconds . Then, squeeze and release throttl e t rigger t o all ow engi ne to return t o idle speed.
11 S Release the throt tle trigger as s oon as the c ut is c omplet ed, all owing t he en- gine to idle. If y ou run the saw at ful l throttl e without a cutting load, unneces - sary wear can oc cur to t he chai n, bar, and engine. It is recomm ended that the engine not be operated for lon- ger than 30 seconds at full throttle.
12 S DO NOT cut down a part ially fall en tree with your saw. Be extrem ely caut ious with partially fallen trees that may be poorly supported. When a tree doesn’t fall com- pletely , set t he saw aside and pull down the tree with a cable winch, bloc k and tack le, or tract or.

15 Remove Sawdus t From Guide Bar Groov e Spro cket Ho le Oil Holes S Add lubri cant to s procket hole af ter each use. S Burring of guide bar rails is a normal process of rail wear. Remove t hese burrs with a flat file. S When rail top is uneven, us e a flat f ile to re- store s quare edges and sides .
16 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Engine wil l not start or will run only a few seconds af ter starti ng. S Ignition switch off . S Engine flooded. S Fuel tank empt y. S Spark plug not f iring.
