With a bas ic underst anding of kick back, you can reduc e the element of s urprise which cont ributes t o acci dents. S Never let the moving chain contac t any ob- ject at t he tip of the guide bar.

7 Cutters Depth G aug e Drive Links Place chain onto the s p rocket 7. Place chain ov er and behi nd c lutc h, fit- ting the drive lin k s in the clutch drum spro cket. 8. Fit bottom of drive l inks bet ween the teeth in the sproc ket i n the nose of the guide bar.

9 FUEL ING & LUBRICAT ION W ARNING: Remo ve fuel cap slow- ly when ref ueling. FUELING ENGINE This engine is cert ified t o operate on un- leaded gasoline. Before operat ion, gasoline must be mi xed with a good quali ty synt hetic 2-cycle a ir-cool ed engi ne oil designed to be mixed at a rati o of 40:1.
10 NOTE: If the engine sounds as if it is try- ing to start befo re the 5th pull, s top pulling and immediat ely proc eed t o the next s tep. 6. Push the chok e knob in c ompletely (to the OFF position); pull the s tarter rope until the engine start s.
11 S Allow the chain to cut for you. Exert only light downward pressure. If y ou force the cut, damage t o the bar , chain, or en- gine can res ult. S Release the throt tle trigger as s oon as the c ut is c omplet ed, all owing t he en- gine to idle.
12 NOTE: Before felling cut is complete, use wedges to open t he c ut if necessary to control the direction of f all. T o av oid kickbac k and chain dam age, use wood or pl astic wedges, but never s teel or iron wedges .

Cleaning the air filter: A dirty air filt er decreases engine perform- ance and increas es fuel consumpt ion and harmful emi ssions .
