9 FUELING & LUBRICA TION WAR N I N G : Remove fuel cap slow- ly w hen refueling. FU EL ING EN GINE This engine is c ertified to operate on unleaded gas oline. Before oper ation, gasoline mus t be mixed w ith a good quality sy nthetic 2- cy cle air- cooled engine oil designed to be mix ed at a ratio of 40:1.
10 OFF HALF CHOKE /F AST IDLE LEV ER Choke / fas t idle lev er (SIDE VIEW ) FULL 6. Pull the s tarter rope s harply with y our right hand until t he engine starts . 7. Allow the engine t o run for approx imately 5 sec onds. Then, s queeze and releas e throttle trigger to allow engine to return to idle speed.
11 S Releas e the throttle trigger as soon as the cut is c ompleted, allowing the en- gine to idle. If you run the s aw at full throttle without a cutt ing load, unneces - sar y wear c an occ ur to the c hain, bar , and engine. S T o av oid losing c ontrol when c ut is com- plete, do not put press ure on s aw at end of cut.
12 S DO NO T c ut dow n a partially fallen tree with y our s aw . Be ex tremely cautious w ith partially fallen trees that may be poorly suppor ted. When a tree does n’t fall c om- pletely, set the s aw as ide and pull dow n the tree with a cable winc h, block and tac kle, or trac tor .

14 Cleaning the air fi lt er: A dirty air filter dec reas es engine perform- ance and inc reas es fuel cons umption and harmful emis sions . Alw ays c lean after 10 tanks of fuel or 5 hours of oper ation, whic h- ever c omes first. Clean more frequently in dusty conditions.
15 Replac e guide bar w hen t he groove is w orn, the guide bar is bent or c rac ked , or w hen exc e- ss heating or bur ring of the rails o cc urs . If re - place ment is nec ess ary, use only the guide bar spec ified for your s aw in t he repair part s lis t or on the decal loc ated on the c hain saw.
16 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Engine will not star t or will r un only a few sec onds after star ting. 1. Ignition s witc h off. 2. Engine flooded. 3. Fuel tank empty . 4. Spark plug not fir ing. 5. Fuel not r eaching car buretor . 1. Move ignition s witc h to ON .
