8 I nstallin g Dust Hood Mount the dust hood with t he e i ght M6 x 10 m m hex s crews, ei ght spri ng washer s, and eight fl at washers. S ee Figure 3. It is strongl y recom mended t hat a dust col lec ti on system be connected t o t he 5” port on the planer ’s dust hood.
9 Inspecti o n Bef ore putti ng power to the m achi ne, c heck that all screws ar e ti ght, t hat all mec han i cal func tions work f reel y and that t he cutt erhead tur ns f reel y without knif e contac t with t he chi pbreaker or pressure bar.
10 Opening Hood To open t he hood f or ac cess to the c utter head, rem o v e t he two hex screws wit h the 22mm wrench prov ided. S ee Figure 7. Knife I nstallation an d Adjustm ent (Str aight Cu tterhead on ly) Use care wh en pl ac ing hands near kn ives as they are extremel y sharp and can cau se severe cuts.

14 Outfeed R oller The out f eed roller is o f smoot h, one-pi ece construc ti on to help av o i d marri ng t he f ini shed surf ace of t he m at er i al bei ng cut. I t is spring tensi oned, and it s func ti on i s to conti nue to f eed the m ateri a l thr ough the machi ne aft er i t leaves the i n f eed roll er.

I f t he gauge re ading i s greater or le s s t han zero, reach beneath t he tabl e w i th a wrench and loose n the hex nut (C, Fi gure 17) w hi ch is abov e the cam ( D, Figur e 17) near the end of the roller that needs adj us ti ng. Rot ate the hex cap scre w (E, Fi gure 17) unti l the gauge read s zero.
16 Operating Controls The stop but ton is a m ushroom style butt on which i s conv en i ent for “e m ergenc y” shutdowns. Aft er bei ng pus hed, t he stop butt on rem ains engaged. T o re-start the planer, t w i s t the stop butt on c l ockwise unti l i t pops back out .
