Approach the curb or obstacle slowly , and make sure the power chair is traveling perpendicular to the obstacle. See figure 2. 2. Increase the forward speed just before the front wheels come in contact with the obstacle.

1 8 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 614 Series III. YOUR POWER CHAIR THE QU ANTUM 614 SERIES Y our power chair has two main assemblies: the seat assembly and the power base assembly . See figure 5. T ypically , the seat assembly includes the armrests, seatback, and seat base.

When the batteries and the motors are heavily strained (e.g., from excessive loads), the main circuit breaker trips to prevent damage to the motors and the electronics.
Quantum 614 Series www.quantumrehab.com 21 Manual Freewheel Levers Y our power chair has a manual freewheel lever on each motor . Manual freewheel levers enable you to disengage the drive motors from the gearboxes and maneuver the chair manually .

Quantum 614 Series www.quantumrehab.com 23 IV . ASSEMBL Y Seat Installation It may be necessary to install the seat either prior to initial operation or after transporting your power chair . Most seats are attached to the power base with the Universal Mounting System (UMS).

COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS After becoming familiar with your power chair ’ s operation, you may find the need to make some adjustments to increase your comfort, such as seat height and angle, armrest angle, foot platform height and angle, and controller position.
Quantum 614 Series www.quantumrehab.com 25 V . COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS 1 0 . Reinstall the retaining clips from step 8. 1 1. Remove each screw from the trapeze bars and apply thread lock. 12 . Reinstall each screw into the trapeze bars and tighten. 13 . T ighten the setscrew in each seat tower .
2 6 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 614 Series Seatback Angle Adjustment If your power chair is equipped with an adjustable seatback, you can adjust it to four (4) different angles: 90°, 102°, 105°, or 107°. T o adjust the seatback angle: 1. Remove the adjusting screws from each seat hinge.

COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS Controller Position Y ou can move the controller in toward or out away from the armrest, or change the position of the controller for either left- hand or right-hand use. WARNING! Do not place the controller cable so that it can be pinched in the seat frame or the power base frame.
2 8 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 614 Series V . COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS Foot Plat form Depth Adjustment T o adjust the foot platform depth: 1. Remove the hardware from the foot plat form bracket. See figure 17. 2. Move the foot platform in or out to the desired depth.
Quantum 614 Series www.quantumrehab.com 29 VI. BA TTERIES AND CHAR GING BA TTERIES AND CHARGING Y our power chair uses two long-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. These batteries are sealed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, there is no need to check the electrolyte (fluid) level.

Quantum 614 Series www.quantumrehab.com 31 VI. BA TTERIES AND CHAR GING How often must I charge the batteries? Many factors come into play when deciding how often to charge the batteries. Y ou may use your power chair all day on a daily basis or you may not use it for weeks at a time.

Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. Y ou can perform some of these checks, but others require assistance from your Quantum Rehab Provider .
