3 1. Before beginning any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems. 2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions.
4 20. Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running. Always remove the key , unplug the power cord, and press the power switch into the off position when the treadmill is not in use. (See the drawing on page 5 for the location of the power switch.
5 Thank you for selecting the revolutionary PROFORM ® POWER 1080 treadmill. The POWER 1080 treadmill offers an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective. And when you’re not exercising, the unique treadmill can be folded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills.

7 1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. Place a piece of cardboard below the rear of the Frame (56) to protect the floor or carpet. Attach the Left Wheel Cap (96) to the Base (94) with two #8 x 3/4" Screws (2). Attach the Right Wheel Cap (not shown) to the right side of the Base (94) in the same way .
8 4. Hold the Left Upright (89) against the Base (94). Be careful not to pinch the Upright Wire (81) or the base ground wire (A). Insert two 3/8" x 1 1/4" Screws (8) with two 3/8" Star W ashers (13) and two 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (7) into the Left Upright.
9 6. Cut the plastic ties in the Left Handrail (88) and the Right Handrail (not shown). If necessary, press the 5/16" Cage Nuts (31) back into place. Identify the Left Handrail (88) and hold it near the Left Upright (89). Insert the Upright Wire (81) through the bracket on the bottom of the Left Handrail.
10 8. Set the console assembly face down on a soft surface to avoid scratching the console assem- bly . Remove the two Screws (A). Next, lift off the Crossbar (93).
11 11. Set the console assembly on the Left Handrail (88) and the Right Handrail (87). Be careful not to pinch any wires. Insert the excess Upright Wire (not shown) into the Left Handrail.
12 14. Hold the Left Upright Cover (79) against the console assembly. Align the holes in the Left Upright Cover with the holes in the Left Upright (89). Attach the Left Upright Cover with three #8 x 1/2" Screws (1). Attach the Right Upright Cover (80) to the Right Upright (90) in the same way.
13 15. Attach the Left T ray (107) and the Right T ray (102) to the console assembly with four #8 x 1/2" Screws (1). 107 102 15 Console Assembly 1 1 1 16. IMPORT ANT : See page 16 and plug in the power cord. Next, see page 18 and turn on the power .
14 18. Attach the Rear Feet (57) to the Frame (56) as shown with four #8 x 3/4" Screws (2). Lower the Frame (56) (see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 29). 18 57 2 2 57 56 17. IMPORTANT: Before you begin this step, make sure that you have read and followed all the instructions in step 16.
15 20. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. If there are sheets of plastic on the treadmill decals, remove the plastic. T o protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill. Note: Extra hardware may be included.
16 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO CONNECT THE POWER CORD Use a Surge Suppressor Y our treadmill, like other electronic equipment, can be damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home’s power . V oltage surges, spikes, and noise interfer- ence can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off.
17 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjoyable. The console features revolutionary iFit Live technology that enables the treadmill to com- municate with your wireless network.
18 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORT ANT : If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before you turn on the power . If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components.
19 HOW TO SET UP THE CONSOLE Before using the treadmill for the first time, set up the console. 1. Connect to your wireless network. Note: In order to access the Internet, download iFit Live workouts, and use other features of the con- sole, you must be connected to a wireless network.
20 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW T O TURN ON THE POWER on page 18. Note: It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use. 2. Select the main menu. When you turn on the power , the main menu will appear after the console boots up.
21 If desired, adjust the volume by pressing the volume increase and decrease buttons on the console. T o pause the workout, touch one of the menu but- tons or press the Stop button on the console. T o continue the workout, touch the Resume button or the Start button.
22 HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18. 2. Select an onboard workout. T o select an onboard workout, press the Calorie button, the Interval button, the Speed button, or the Endurance button on the console.
23 HOW TO USE A SET -A-GOAL WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18. 2. Select the main menu. See step 2 on page 20. 3. Select a set-a-goal workout. T o select a set-a-goal workout, touch the Set A Goal button on the screen or press the Set a Goal button on the console.
24 HOW TO USE AN IFIT LIVE WORKOUT Note: T o use an iFit Live workout, you must have access to a wireless network (see HOW T O USE THE WIRELESS NETWORK MODE on page 27). An iFit Live account is also required. 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18.
25 HOW TO USE THE EQUIPMENT SETTINGS MODE The console features an equipment settings mode that allows you to select a language and the unit of measurement, to turn on and turn off the display demo mode, and to enable or disable the key . 1. Select the settings main menu.
26 HOW TO USE THE MAINTENANCE MODE The console features a maintenance mode that allows you to update the console firmware, calibrate the incline of the treadmill, calibrate the screen, view tech- nical information, and view a button’s keycode. 1. Select the settings main menu.
27 HOW TO USE THE WIRELESS NETWORK MODE The console features a wireless network mode that allows you to set up a wireless network connection. 1. Select the settings main menu. See step 1 on page 25. 2. Select the wireless network mode. In the settings main menu, touch the Wireless Network button to enter the wireless network mode.
28 HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM T o play music or audio books through the console’s speakers, you must connect your MP3 player , CD player , or other personal audio player to the console. Plug one end of your audio wire into the audio jack on the console.
29 HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL T o avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: Y ou must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower , or move the treadmill.
30 Most treadmill problems can be solved by follow- ing the simple steps below . Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assis- tance is needed, see the front cover of this manual.
31 Locate the Reed Switch (52) and the Magnet (50) on the left side of the Pulley (49). T urn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
32 SYMPTOM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on a. If the walking belt is off-center , first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
33 EXERCISE GUIDELINES These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember , proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
