DANGERÑIf you will be using the hydrother- apy spa outside, do not bury the power cord; you should also keep the power cord away from lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and other similar equipment. 21. W ARNINGÑThe hydrotherapy spa must be wired directly into a 240 volt power source equipped with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
5 34. W ARNINGÑT o reduce the risk of injury or drowning: Consult your physician about pos- sible side-effects of any medications you may be taking before using the hydrotherapy spa. Heat from the water , in conjunction with some medications may cause drowsiness and increase the risk of drowning.
6 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the innovative PROFORM ¨ RESTORA TION 5.1 hydrotherapy spa. The RESTORA TION 5.1 hydrotherapy spa of fers the fea- tures and quality of a traditional hot tub at an afford- able price. Best of all, the RESTORA TION 5.
7 CHOOSING A LOCA TION FOR THE HYDROTHERAPY SP A There are many factors to consider when choosing a location to set up the hydrotherapy spa. These factors vary depending on whether you use the hydrotherapy spa inside or outside. We have listed several factors you may wish to consider as you decide where you want to use the hydrotherapy spa.
8 SET -UP AND ASSEMBL Y Before beginning assembly , carefully read the following information and instructions: ¥ Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials from the spa shell; do not dis- pose of the packing materials until assembly is completed and the spa is in operation.
4. The RESTORA TION 5.1 is designed to operate with a 240 volt power source and must be wired directly to a 240 volt ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) installed in your home.
1. Remove the two indicated Control Unit Screws (19) and the two Small Star W ashers (8) from the cover on the Control Unit (14). Fold the cover down. Route the 240 volt AC power cord through the indi- cated opening on the right side of the Control Unit (14).
11 5. For a 40 amp 240 volt AC power supply , set the jumper J1 to pins 1 and 2 on the power board and leave the other jumpers at the factory settings, as shown at the right. This will allow the heater and the pump to operate at high speed simultaneously .
12 USING THE HYDROTHERAPY SP A The hydrotherapy spa is designed to seat five adults. The fifteen thera-jets can be regulated to provide a relaxing massage to sooth away stress, and the strength of the water massage can be adjusted by the air control.
13 A A B B D C A E A D A B SP A SHELL DIAGRAM SP A OPERA TION Refer to the diagram above. The function of each component is explained below: The eight uni-directional thera-jets (A) are located on both sides of the spa. Five jets focus the water massage on your upper or lower back.
14 USING THE CONSOLE Refer to the console diagram above. The function of each console control is explained below: T emperature Display: During normal use this display shows the actual water temperature. When the Set T emp indicator is lit, the display shows the set temperature.
15 POSTING THE W ARNING SIGN The warning sign, shown below , must be posted on a wall or fence, where all users of the RESTORA TION 5.1 will be able to see it. Whenever the spa is moved, the sign must also be moved and reposted near the spa. ADJUSTING THE FIL TER CYCLE The spa filter cycle runs automatically to clean the water in the spa.
16 The hydrotherapy spa is designed to provide you with years of enjoyment. Please follow the guidelines below to properly maintain your hydrotherapy spa. MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE DAIL Y ¥ Check the water level and refill the spa to the level shown on page 9, step 5.
17 W A TER CHEMISTRY The hydrotherapy spa comes with a starter chemical pack for maintaining the water in the spa. (See TEST- ING AND TREA TING THE W A TER on page 12.) Additional chemicals can be purchased at a pool and spa supply store. CAUTION: The chemicals used to maintain the pH balance of the water and to sanitize the water can be dangerous.
18 T o drain the hydrotherapy spa, follow these steps: 1. Set the temperature control on the console to the lowest setting. 2. Shut off the circuit breaker or GFCI. 3. Remove the access cover from the back of the spa unit. 4. Remove the drainage hose from the clip and attach a garden hose to the valve on the drainage hose.
19 CHECKING AND CLEANING THE FIL TER The filter should be checked periodically for build-up of dirt and oil. T o check or clean the filter , it is neces- sary to remove the basket and the two filter car- tridges from the filter housing. Removing and Cleaning the Basket: 1.
20 1. SYMPTOM: THE SP A WILL NOT OPERA TE a. Check to see if the GFCI breaker is tripped, or was not turned on. Reset the GFCI breaker . b. Make sure the Heater Switch (7), located on the Control Unit (14) inside the pump compart- ment, is in the ÒONÓ position.
21 9. SYMPTOM: THE W A TER LEVEL DROPS a. Some water loss due to evaporation is normal. If rapid water loss occurs, or if you notice wet- ness on the floor around the hydrotherapy spa, then the spa shell may have a leak. Contact your local spa and pool service provider for repairs.
