7 House Code The house c ode is a mast er code for a Plug ’N Powe r system. Yo u must se t the remote c ontrol center m ode and a ll the modules it contr ols to th e same ho use code .
8 Unit Code Each Wireless Remote Control Ce nter can op erate up to 16 dif ferent module s or groups of modu les. E very modu le ha s a unit code dial with settings from 1 throug h 16. You can s et the cont rol cente r to con- trol any module or g roup of modu les set to the sam e house c ode.
9 PLACING THE CONTROL CENTER MODULE Beca use the con trol center’s module is a rec eiver an d also a tra nsmi tter, you ne ed to con sider the best lo catio n for its installa tion.
10 PREPARATION IN STALLI NG BAT TERIES Your rem ote control r equires four AAA batte ries (not su p- plied) fo r power. For th e best perf ormance and l ongest life, we r ecommend RadioSha ck alkali ne batter ies. Cautions: • Use only fresh b atteri es of the r equi red size a nd rec - ommended typ e.
11 Warning: Dispose of ol d batteries prom ptly and pr operly. Do no t burn o r bury th em. Caution: If you do not plan to us e the remote control for a mont h or more , remov e the batte ries. Bat teries can leak ch emicals th at can des troy elec tronic part s.
12 5. P ress ON/OFF on the receiver to make sure the l ight or appli ance turns on and off. 6. If 1 – 8/9 – 16 on t he rem ote co ntro l i s s et to 9 – 16 , press th e button under ON or OFF ne xt to 1 and 9 (labele d on your remote ) to turn the light or appliance on or off.
13 SETTING UP ADDITIONA L MODULES The foll owing are typ es of Plug ’N Power modul es avai l- able from RadioShac k. We inclu de a brief de scriptio n here, but be sure to r ead and foll ow the instr uctions tha t come with each module. Other type s of m odules a re also availab le.
14 Lamp Dimmer Modules (Cat. No. 61-2682) — These modules a re des ig ned t o co ntro l lam ps, and y ou ca n dim the co nnected l amps fro m a Plug ’ N Power cont roller . You can c onnect inc andesc ent lamps o f up to 300 wa tts to these m odules.
15 Caution: Do not use Lamp Dimmer modules, W all Switch Mod ules, or 3-Way Wall Swi tch Modul es with fluo- rescen t lightin g. 3-Way Wall Switch Modules (RSU 1191103 9) — These modules are s imilar to Wall Swit ch Module s, exce pt that they ar e designed t o control a light th at is prese ntly co n- trolled from two differen t wall switc hes.
16 Wall Outlet Modules (Cat. No. 61- 2685) — Thes e module s comp letel y replace e xistin g wall o utlets, but you can only control the top outlet fro m a Plug ’N P ower con troller. The bottom outlet is always on. You can connec t applian ces or l amps that draw a tota l of up to 1800 watts to the ou tlet modu le.
17 Set the s elector s witch dia l on the remote c ontrol to 1–8 if you want t o contro l the lamp and appli ance se t from 1 to 8, or contr ol from 9 to 16 if you se t the selector swi tches to 9–16 .
18 Follow th e procedure in “Contr olling Addit ional Modu les” to test ea ch rec eiver mod ule. S ee “I ntercom Sy stems” o n Page 28 if your system do es not work properly . CONTROLLING ADDITIONAL MODULES 1. Set the rem ote contr ol's slid e switch to the group of 8 modules you want to control ( 1–8 or 9 –16 ).
19 Caution: Be sure to turn off the powe r at the mai n circuit br eaker panel be fore insta lling Wall Switch Modules or W a ll Outlet M odules. 3. Set the hou se code dia l on all your Plug ’N Po wer modules to the sa me letter as you set on the remot e control module.
20 DIMMING OR BRIGHTENING LIGHTS CONNECTED TO MODULES Turn on th e modu le by pres sing the button on the remot e control th at corresponds to the mod ule's unit code. The n press or on the remo te c on tro l t o di m or brig ht- en the li ght. Hold th e button do wn until y ou see t he de- sired b righ tness le vel.

22 ADDING OTHER CONTROLLERS You can easily increa se the size an d flexib ility of your Plug ’N P ower system by adding more modu les or other Plug ’N P ower co ntrollers . Mini Remote Co ntrol Center (Cat. No . 61-2677C ) — lets you instantly c ontrol up to eigh t Plug ’N Power mod- ules and di m lights, too.
23 Wireless Ho me Securit y System (Cat. No . 49-2551A) — let s you w ork with a total of 16 wireless s ensor trans - mitters, la mp modules , motion det ectors, and other ac- cesso ries to custo m ize your home secu rity syste m. Programmable Control Center & Timer (Cat.
24 T ROUBLESHOOTING If your system is not w orking as it shou ld, try these sug- gestions. Symptom Sugge stion The remo te control does no t turn the con- trol cente r rec ei ver on or of f. Make sure the red light on the remote c ontrol lights when you pres s a butt on.
25 The con trol center module does not turn on or off us ing another type of Plug ’N Power contr olle r. T ry plugging the control cen ter receive r and the othe r Plug ’N Power co ntroller into the same AC outlet.
26 Y ou cannot c ontrol other Plug ’N Power module s from yo ur remote con trol (continu ed). Make s ure that you have pow er to the AC o utlet and the light or appli anc e is o n. Plug ano ther Plug ’N Power c o n- troller an d the module s into th e same AC outlet, the n try to control the modu les aga in.

28 IN TE RCOM SYS TE MS Intercom system s which send voic e signals o ver exis ting electric al wiring m ay in terfere with the abil ity to c ontrol other mo dules fro m your c ontrol cen ter when the inter- com is in use. If the in tercom s ystem has its own sep a- rate wiring, it will not cause a prob lem.
29 POWER INTERRUPTIONS When the po wer is restor ed after an outage , Lamp Mod- ules an d Wal l Switc h Modu les w ill n ormally be OFF. You can use the re mot e c ont ro l to turn Lamp a nd W al l Swi tc h modules on a fter a powe r fail ure.
