RR1 • 5 RR1 THEORY OF OPER AT ION The RR1 m ay look s imple but t here is actuall y quite a lot being done insid e each one of the parts . Many ind ividual com ponents are pac ked insi de of the IR receiver part (U2) itself; so m any in fact that if it was built up with discrete components , it wou ld never fit in t his litt le kit cas e.

RR1 • 13 TEST ING T HE RR1 To begin testing t he RR1 we will nee d the f ollowing items : AC power suppl y (6 to 12VAC) or DC power suppl y (8 to 14VDC). A known f unctiona l IR rem ote control. A mating p iece of equipm ent that th e rem ote control works with.
RR1 • 14 USING THE RR 1 The beaut iful t hing about it is that there re ally is no secr et to using the RR1. The onl y option you ma y need t o change is the j umper c onfigurati on of J 2, the ‘Data Restor e’ ena ble head er. B y default, le ave the j um per header ’I N’ or on the pins.
RR1 • 15 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE PROBLE M: The gree n LED does n’t lig ht up when I aim m y rem ote at it. SOLUTI ON: Ther e are a few t hings that c an go wr ong her e so we wil l go through th e poss ibilities in order of there likeliho od: 1. You forgot to turn on the po wer, or your DC adapter isn’t com patible (the polarit y is rever sed).
