However , offsets to the actual distances measured can be app lied during calibration (see Chapter 4, Calibratio n ), so that the displayed depth reading represents e ither the depth from the k e el or the depth from the waterline (W/L).

Chapter 3: Installatio n 11 Chapter 3: Installati on T h is chapter describes how to install the ST60 Dep th instrument, and associated depth transducer . The tran sducer is fitted in the hull of the vessel and is co nn ected to the rear of the instrument.

Chapter 3: Installatio n 13 • Be clear of other th rough-hull fi ttings or projections. • Have sufficient clearance inside the hull to fit the nut. • Have 4 in (100 mm) of he adroom to a llow for wi thdrawal. • Be wit hin 10 ° of the vertical, forw ard, aft and athwart ships .

16 ST60 Depth Instrument Owner ’ s Handbook 3.2 Pr ocedure s As it is not possible to descr ibe procedures for all possible installation scenari os , the procedures giv en here describe th e broad requir ements for installin g depth transducers and the ST60 Depth instrument.
Chapter 3: Installatio n 17 3. Dril l out the two 0.2 in (5 m m) fixing stud clea rance holes (2). 4. Cut out the clearance hole (3) then rem ove the template . 5. Peel off the protective sheet f rom the self-adhesiv e gask et ( 4) then stic k the gask et into position on the rear of the instrument.

Referring to the F itting the low-profile bezel illustration, place th e instrument face upw ards on a flat surface and place the rubber k eypad (7) in position around the d isplay window (i.e . so that each key outline is located o ver its associated k ey on the instrument).

Failure to observe this caution coul d re sult in da mage to bot h the i nstrume nt and the beze l. 5. Using the four , self-tapping screws (9) provided, secure the instrument and bezel together .

Apply the flush mount template (supplied at the rear of this handbook) to the selected location and mark out the aperture into which the assembled instru- ment and bez el will sit. 4. Cut out the aperture (3) for the assembled instrument and bezel and remove the template .
