5 I NTRODUCTION Y our Caller ID phone stores and displa ys specific inf or mation, provided by y our local telephone company , to subscribers of Caller ID or similar caller identification ser vices. Y ou must subscribe to one of these ser vices in order to use this unit.
PB M ODULAR J ACK R EQUIREMENTS Y ou need an RJ11(CA11A) type modular jack, which is the most common type of phone jack and might look lik e the one pictured here. If you don’t ha ve a modular jack, call y our local phone company to find out how to get one installed.
7 IMPORT ANT: Y ou will have approximately 60 seconds to replace the batteries before the memories stored in the handset are lost. Please read the instructions before replacing the batteries and have the batteries ready to be inserted beforehand.
PB S ETTING U P THE C ALLER ID M ENU Y ou should not plug the telephone into the wall line jac k while setting up the Caller ID menu. An incoming call may in validate the change if it w as not yet sav ed. The phone must displa y xx CALLS bef ore you can enter the setup menu.
9 T O S ET Y OUR L OCAL A REA C ODE The telephone uses the programmed area code to determine the number format to display when a v alid Caller ID signal is received and is also used f or the Dialback f eature. 1. Press and hold the REVIEW up b utton then press and hold the REVIEW down b utton.
PB 3. Press the DELETE b utton to show the current language setting. The default is English. 4. Press REVIEW up or do wn to change the language. 5. Press DIAL to store the language and return to the CID LANGU A GE display . T O S ET THE LCD C ONTRAST This adjustment allows optimization of the contrast and viewing angle of the displa y .
11 4. T o change the dial mode, press REVIEW up or down. The display will alternate between the two modes. 5. Press DIAL to store the dial mode and return to the T/P DIAL MODE displa y .
PB I NST ALLING THE P HONE T O I NST ALL ON A D ESKTOP 1. Plug the coiled cord into the handset. Plug the other end into the jack on the bottom end of the base. 2. Plug the long str aight line cord into jack on the bottom of the base. Plug the other end into a wall jack.
13 T O M OUNT ON A W ALL 1. Plug the shor t line cord into the jack on the bottom of the base and connect the other end to a wall phone jac k. 2. F eed the shor t line cord through the grooves provided so that the base area is flat and ready to mount on the wall.
PB C ALLER ID F EA TURES S UMMARY S CREEN The Summary Screen shows the current time, current date and number of new calls to be revie wed. It is display ed until any button is pressed. Within 10 seconds of receiving a new call, the Summary Screen will be display ed and the New Call LED will flash.
15 R EVIEWING C ALL R ECORDS • Press either the REVIEW up or REVIEW down b utton to view the ne west call record. • Press the REVIEW down button to scroll through the call records from the most recent to the oldest. • Press the REVIEW up button to scroll through the call records from the oldest to the new est.
PB I F YOU PROGRAMMED YOUR LOCAL AREA CODE IN THE SETUP MEN U 1. Use the REVIEW up and down b uttons to display the number you w ant to dial. • If you see a number with 7 digits (i.e . 555-1234), then the call was receiv ed from within your area code .
17 2. See steps 2 through 4 in the abov e section to complete the dialback sequence . NOTE: If only PICKUP PHONE shows on the display , no other changes to the number can be made. The information sent from the telephone company is known to be a valid number for dialing back (available only in limited areas).
PB M ESSAGE I NDICA TORS The f ollowing special messages indicate the status of a message or the unit: NO CALLS The caller memory is empty . UNKNO WN CALL The incoming call does not hav e Caller ID service or their ser vice area is not linked to y ours.
19 T ELEPHONE B ASICS C HANGING THE V OLUME Y ou are able to control the listening lev el with the V OLUME button, which has 3 le vels. At the lowest le v el, the phone beeps once. It remains at the last le vel set until y ou change it. R EDIALING A N UMBER If you w ant to call the last number y ou dialed again (up to 32 digits), use REDIAL.
PB U SING M EMORY F EA TURES Bef ore you store any telephone n umber into memor y , make sure the dial mode is correct f or the type of telephone you ’ re using. The default dial mode is tone (touch-tone), so if you ha v e pulse (rotar y) ser vice, you must first change the dial mode.
21 T O C HANGE A S TORED N UMBER Repeat the storage sequence. The new number replaces the old number at the memory location. T O E RASE A S TORED N UMBER 1. Pick up the handset. 2. Press ST ORE. 3. Press ST ORE again. 4. Press the location (A, B, 0-9) to be erased.
PB F LASH This f eature is used to activate customer calling services av ailab le through your local phone company , such as Call W aiting. These ser vices generally require an e xtra monthly fee . If you subscribe to any of these services, please ref er to the phone company ’ s instructions on how to use FLASH.
23 E RROR M ESSAGE IS D ISPLA YED • ERROR appears in the display if the unit detects an ything other than valid Caller ID inf or mation dur ing the silent period after the first ring. This message indicates either the presence of noise on the line, or that an in valid message has been sent from the telephone company .
PB T ELEPHONE N ETWORK I NFORMA TION Should your equipment cause troub le on your line which may harm the telephone network, the telephone company , where practicable , ma y notify you that temporary discontinuance of ser vice may be required.
25 REN N UMBER On the bottom of this equipment is a label indicating, among other inf or mation, the FCC Registration number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) f or the equipment. Y ou must, upon request, provide this information to your telephone company .

10 P OUR RÉGLER LE CONTRASTE DE L ’ AFFICHEUR Ce r é glage permet d ’ optimiser le contraste et l ’ angle de visionnement de l ’ afficheur . 1. Maintenez le bouton Revie w haut enf onc é , puis le bouton bas. Continuez de maintenir les boutons enf onc é s pendant 3 secondes.

14 C ONSUL T A TION DES DOSSIERS D ’ APPELANT • Appuyez sur REVIEW haut ou REVIEW bas pour consulter le plus r é cent dossier d ’ appelant. • Appuyez sur REVIEW bas pour f aire d é filer les dossiers d ’ appelant, du plus r é cent au plus ancien.
