4 SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its cord. Contact with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator .
5 SYMBOLS Important: Some of the following symbols may be used on your tool. Please study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpretation of these symbols will allow you to operate the tool better and safer. SYMBOL NAME DESIGNATION/EXPLANATION The purpose of safety symbols is to attract your attention to possible dangers.
6 SYMBOLS SA VE THESE INSTRUCTIONS SAFETY AND INTERNA TIONAL SYMBOLS This operator's manual describes safety and international symbols and pictographs that may appear on this product. Read the operator's manual for complete safety , assembly , operating and maintenance, and repair information.
7 W ARNING: Carefully read through this entire operator's manual before using your new screwdriver . Pay close attention to the Safety Rules, W arnings and Cautions. If you use your screwdriver properly and only for what it is intended, you will enjoy years of safe, reliable service.
8 W ARNING: Do not allow familiarity with your screwdriver to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict severe injury. SWITCH See Figure 2. To turn your screwdriver ON , depress the switch trigger. Release switch trigger to turn your screwdriver OFF .
9 OPERA TION REVERSIBLE See Figure 4. This tool has the feature of being reversible. The direction of rotation is controlled by a lever located above the switch trigger . With your screwdriver held in normal operating position, the direction of rotation lever should be positioned to the left of the switch for forward driving operation.
10 OPERA TION SETTING DEPTH See Figure 6. The adjustable nosepiece of your tool will automatically drive screws to preset depths. Make preset depth adjustments as follows: ■ Unplug your screwdriver. W ARNING: Failure to unplug your screwdriver could result in accidental starting causing serious injury .
11 MAINTENANCE GENERAL All parts represent an important part of the double insulation system and should be serviced only at an authorized service center. Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use.
