3 GENERAL SAFETY RULES n Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is off before plugging in. Ca rry ing t ool s w ith yo ur fi nge r o n the switc h or plugging in tools that have the switch on invites accidents. n Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool on.
4 SERVICE n Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel may result in a risk of injury. n When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual.
5 SYMBOLS Some of the following symbols may be used on this tool. Please study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpr eta- tion of these symbols will allow you to operate the tool better and safer .
6 SYMBOLS SERVICE Servicing requir es extreme care and knowledge and should be performed only by a qualified service technician. For service we suggest you return the product to your near est AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER for repair . When servic- ing, use only identical replacement parts.
7 EXTENSION CORDS When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a power sour ce, be sur e to use an extension cord that has the capacity to handle the current the tool will draw . An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in overheating and loss of power .

9 UNP ACKING This product has been shipped completely assembled. n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. n Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no br eakage or damage occurred during shipping.
10 Fig. 2 Fig. 3 A TT ACHING ADHESIVE SANDING DISCS See Figure 2. n Unplug the sander . n Peel the paper backing from the sanding disc. n Align the holes in the sanding disc with the holes in the backing pad. NOTE: Line up the holes in the sanding disc with the holes in the backing pad in order for the dustless feature to function properly .
11 Fig. 4 TURNING THE SANDER ON/OFF See Figure 4. Follow these directions to turn the sander on and off. n T o turn the sander on: Slide the switch to the left (|). n T o turn the sander off: Slide the switch to the right (O). ADJUSTING THE SPEED See Figures 4 - 5.
12 TO A TT ACH THE DUST BAG ASSEMBL Y See Figure 6. n Unplug the sander . n Slide the dust bag assembly onto the blower exhaust on the sander using a slight twisting motion. TO EMPTY THE DUST BAG ASSEMBL Y See Figures 6 - 7. For more efficient operation, empty the dust bag when it is no more than half full.
13 OPERA TING THE SANDER See Figures 9 - 10. n Secure the work to prevent it from moving under the sander . WARNING: Unsecured work could be thrown towards the operator causing injury . n Pla ce the sander on the work pie ce so tha t all of the sand- ing disc surface is in contact with the workpiece.
14 MAINTENANCE ACCESSORIES Look for these accessories at the service center: n 5 in. Sanding Disc – Fine n 5 in. Sanding Disc – Medium n 5 in. Sanding Disc – Coarse WARNING: Current attachments and accessories available for use with this tool are listed above.
