7 Ge t s t a r t e d G et started First steps to operate your phone SIM card information When you subscribe to a cellular network, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscripti on details, such as your PIN, and available optional services.
8 Get started Low battery indicator When the battery is low : • a warning tone sounds, • the battery low message displays, and • the empty battery icon blinks. If the battery lev el becomes too lo w , the phone automatically turns off . Recharge yo ur battery .

This menu is available only if your SIM card supports this feature. No te that this is not inte nded to be use d for billing purposes.

My name card (Menu 2. 5) Use this menu to create a name card and send it to other people. Saving your name card The procedure for creating your name card is the same as the one for sa ving a number in the phone’ s memory .
34 Menu functions 4. Enter the phone password and press < OK >. • Memory s tatus : display the number of contacts you have stored in Phonebook. Service number (Menu 2.8) This menu is available if your SIM card supports Service Dialling Numbers (SDN).

42 Menu functions Browser (Menu 4) The Wireless Application Protocol (W AP) browser on your phone allows you to access the wireless web. Using the WAP browser , you can access updated information and a wide variety of media content, such as wallpapers, ring tones, and music files.

56 Menu functions While reading a me ssage, press < Options > to access the following options: • Open file : open the attached file. • Save file : save the attach e d file in your ph one’ s memory . • Cancel : (for Outbox ) stop sending the e-mail.

58 Menu functions Retrieve attachments : select this option to receive attachments with e- mails. User ID : enter your e-mail ID. Password : enter your e-mail password. Email p r o f ile Y ou can configure the net work settings required to send or receive e-mails.

62 Menu functions • Settings : change the default settings for playing files. Repea t : select a repeat mod e. Shuffle : select a playing order . Volume : select a volume level. Lock volume key : lock [ / ] so that you can prevent an accidental press of the keys from affecting playback.

78 Menu functions Extra tones (Menu 9.4.7) Use this menu to customise additional tones for the phone. • Minute minder : set the phone to b eep every minute during an outgoing call to keep you informed of the length of your call. • Connection tone : set the phone to be ep when it is connected to the system.
Me n u f u n c t i o n s Settings (Menu 9) 79 Call barring (Menu 9. 5.2) This network service allows you to restrict your calls. 1. Select a call barring opti on: • All outgoing : prohibit all outgoing calls. • International : prohibit international calls.
80 Menu functions Caller ID (Menu 9.5.5) This netw ork servic e allows y ou to prev ent you r phone number from be ing dis played on the pho ne of the person being called. However , some networks do not allow the user to change this sett ing. • Default : use the default se tting provided by the network.
Me n u f u n c t i o n s Settings (Menu 9) 81 Bluetooth technology allows free wireless co nnections between all Bluetooth-comp li ant devices within a range of 10 metres. Since the devices communicate using radio wav es, they do not need to be in line of sight to each other .
82 Menu functions • Red for devices t hat are currently c onnected to your phone 3. Select a de vice. 4. Enter a Bluetooth PIN code of up to 16 digits and press < OK >. This co de is used just once and you don’t need to memorise it. When the owner of the other device enter s the same code, pairing is finished.
Me n u f u n c t i o n s Settings (Menu 9) 83 If an unauthorised Bluet ooth device sends data to your phone, the phone displays a confirmation me ssage. T o receive data, pres s < Yes >. Infrare d (Menu 9.6.2) Use this feature to send and receive data through the infrared port.
84 Menu functions When this feature is enabled, you must enter a 4- to 8-digit phone password each time the phone is switched on. The password is preset to 00000000 . T o change the password, use the Change password menu. Change Password (Menu 9.7.4) Use this menu to change your phone password.
85 Reset settings (Menu 9.9) Use this menu to reset the phone settings, display settings, and sound settings individually . Y ou can also reset all the settings in your phone at the same time. 1. Press [ ] to check the set ting category(ies) to be reset.
86 Solve prob lems “Enter PUK” • The PI N code h as been entered incorre ctly three times in succession, and the phone is now blocked. Enter th e PUK su pplied by y our se rvice pro vider . “No Service,” “Ne twork Fa ilure,” or “No t Done” displays • The network connection has been lost.
87 • T ry moving the phone slightly or moving closer to a window if you are in a building. No number is dialled when you re-call a Contacts entry • Use the Contact Search feature to ensur e the number has been stored correctly . • Re-store the number , if necessary .
88 Health and safety information SAR tests are conduct ed using standard operat ing positions with the phone tr ansmitting at its highes t certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certifi ed power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can be well below the maxim um value.
H ealth and safety i nformation 89 • Extreme temperatures will affect the charging capacity of your battery: it may require cooling or warming first. • Do not leave the battery in hot or cold places because the capacity and lifetime of the battery will be reduced.
90 Health and safety information Electronic devices Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from ra dio frequency (RF) signals. Ho wever , certain electronic equipment may not be shielded against the RF signals from your wireless phone. Consult the manufacturer to discuss alternatives.
H ealth and safety i nformation 91 Potentially explosive enviro nments Switch off yo ur phone when in any area with a po tentially explosive atmosphere, and obey all signs and i nstructions. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death.
