12 Assembling and preparing your mobile phone Get started by assembling and setting up your mobile phone for its first use. Install the SIM card and battery Remove the back cover and insert the SIM card. 1. Back cover SIM card Insert the battery and replace the back cover .

14 Insert a memory card (optional) Y our phone accepts microSD™ or microSDHC™ memory cards up to 16 GB (depending on memory card manufacturer and type). Formatting the memory card on a PC may cause • incompatibility with your phone. Format the memory card only on the phone.
15 Use the touch screen Learn basic actions to use the touch screen. T o avoid scratching the touch screen, do not use • sharp tools. Do not allow the touch screen to come in contact • with other electrical devices. Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch screen to malfunction.
16 Attach a hand strap (optional) Remove the back cover . 1. Slide a hand strap through the slot and hook it over 2. the small projection. Replace the back cover . 3. Using basic functions Learn how to perform basic operations and use the main features of your mobile phone.
17 If the battery is removed for more than a few minutes, the time and date will be reset. Access menus In Idle mode, press the Menu key to access Menu 1. mode. 48 Make fake calls Y ou can simulate an incoming call when you want to get out of meetings or unwanted conversations. T o activate the fake call feature In Menu mode, select Settings → Applications → Call → Fake call → Fake call hot key → Save .
49 Use Java-powered games and applications In Menu mode, select 1. Games . Select a game or application from the list and 2. follow the on-screen instructions. The download of Java games or applications • may not be supported depending on the software of the phone.

53 T roubleshooting When you turn on your phone or while you are using the phone, it prompts you to enter one of the following codes: Code T ry this to solve the problem: Password When the phone lock feature is enabled, you must enter the password you set for the phone.
54 The touch screen responds slowly or improperly If your phone has a touch screen and the touch screen is not responding properly , try the following: Remove any protective covers from the touch screen. • Protective covers may prevent the device from recognising your inputs and are not recommended for touch screen devices.
55 Incoming calls are not connected Ensure that your phone is turned on. • Ensure that you have accessed the right cellular network. • Ensure that you have not set call barring for the incoming • phone number . Others cannot hear you speaking on a call Ensure that you are not covering the built-in microphone.
56 The battery does not charge properly or the phone turns off The battery terminals may be dirty . Wipe both gold-coloured • contacts with a clean, soft cloth and try charging the battery again.
57 Error messages appear when launching the FM radio The FM radio application on your Samsung mobile device uses the headset cable as an antenna. Without a headset connected, the FM radio will be unable to receive radio stations. T o use the FMradio,rstensurethattheheadsetisproperlyconnected.
58 Another Bluetooth device is not located Ensure that the Bluetooth wireless feature is activated on • your phone. If you are allergic to paint or metal parts of the product, you may experience itching, eczema, or swelling of the skin. When this happens, stop using the product and consult your physician.
