17 Getting to know your phone Antenna The antenna is a device fo r transmitting and receivin g sig nals. The shape and size of the antenna is determined, in pa rt, by the frequency of the signals that they receive. An antenna makes the call so und clearer when it i s fully extended.
18 Headset connector This is where the option al hands-free headset is conne cted. The headset includes an earbud and microphone in a convenient, lightweight unit so you can talk without using your hands. • Before inserting the ha nds-free headset connec tor to your phone, gently pry open the top of the cover to expose the headset connector .
19 Send key The key perf orms several useful functions: • Press once to answer call s. • Enter a number and pres s once to connect a call. • Pr e s s twi c e in st a n dby mode to red i al the last recent call number . Navigation The Navigation key allows you to loca te different menu option s by pressing in the appropriate direction.
20 Display screens Y our phone has two display screens: The display screen on the front of your phone is comprised of three a reas: • An upper line of stationary icons • The middle area showin g t.
21 Service indicator: This icon indicates a call is in progress. When the phone is calling a number , this icon will flash until the call is connected. No service indicator: This icon indi cates your phon e cannot find a signal because you’re outside a service are a.
22 Ringer silent: This icon indicates that yo ur phones ringer is set to silent. GPS (911 only): This icon represents Global Posi tioning Service (GPS) for 911. GPS: This icon indicates GPS i s on for location. Silent mode: This is the icon for silent mode.
23 Removing the battery T o remove the battery from your phone: 1. T urn t he phone off by p ressing and holding . 2. Push the battery release latch up and pull the batt ery away from the latch. 3. Lift the battery away from the phone. Charging the battery Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable standard Li-Ion batte ry .
24 • Red indicates that the batt ery is charging. • Green indicates that the battery is fully charged. 4. Y ou can make a phone call when the phone is plugged into the travel adaptor . The adaptor will continue to charge the battery even when you are making the call.
25 The empty battery icon T wo to three minutes before the battery ch arge level gets too low to operate the phone, the battery sensor will let you kn ow by blinking an empty battery icon ( ), and sounding a tone. If you con tinue to operate th e phone without charging the battery , the phone wi ll automati cally turn off.
26 Silent mode The Silent Mode feature all ows you to instantaneously silenc e the ringer when in standby mode. • With the phone in standby mode, press and hold for 2 seconds. En tering Silent Mode displays briefly . (The silent mode icon displays on th e standby screen.
27 T alk mode Y ou can place and answer calls only w hen your phone is turned on. When you are on a call your phone is in T alk mode. Pressing will display a list of the In-Use menu options. Vibrate mode In standby mode: 1. Press the down arrow located on the le ft side of your phon e to adjust the ringer volume .
28 T urning your phone on T o turn your pho ne on: 1. Fully extend the antenna for the clearest reception. 2. Press and hold for more than two seconds.
29 Several ways to answer a call When you receive a call: • If the caller can be id entified, the phone displays “Call from caller’ s phone number , (or name if pre-stored in your Phone Book)”. • If the caller cannot be i dentified, the phone displays “Ca ll from Unavailable No”.

41 Find by name This option allows you to find a stor ed name (alphabetically) in the Phone Book and place a call to that name. 1. In standby mode, pre ss to display the Main m enu . 2. Press for Phone Book. 3. Press for Find. 4. Press to highlight By name.
42 Find by group This option allows you to find a stored entry in a related group. 1. In standby mode, press to display the Main menu . 2. Press for the Phone Book. 3. Press for Fi nd . 4. Press to highlight by Group. 5. Press to select the entry . Th e entry informatio n is displaye d.
43 Add This menu allows you to add in formation to your Phon e Book. With the phone in standby mode: 1. Press for the Main menu . 2. Press for Phone Book. 3. Press for Add. The Phone Book display screen prompts you to confirm Number or E-mail. 4. Press .

49 Shortcuts to storing phone numbers Y ou can store a phone number by en tering the number , and pressing . Follow the screen prompts to designate other informatio n. Y ou can also save a number after an in coming or outgoing call. One-touch dialing Memory locations 001 through 0 09 are special One-T ouch l ocations.

51 Creating SMS text messages 1. In stan db y mode, press (press when in-use ) to display Message. 2. Press for Se nd New Msg. The screen displays Send T o:. 3. Press to select from optio ns. ( Phone Book, T9 W ord, ABC, Symbol, 123, edu, net, com, and Save Address ).
52 Entering text, number s, and/or symbols At various times when usi ng your phone, you will need to enter text in the display screen. Some examples w ould be : adding an E-mail address, storing a name in the Phone Book, entering e ven ts in the Scheduler , or inputting text messages.
53 • Canned Msg: These are messages you can send that are already in your phone. Alphabetical text entry Alphabetical text entry characters may be entered in ABC mode, by pressing the corresponding key to the letter you want to enter . Press the same key repeatedly to chan g e between the characters represented by each key .
54 T9 ® word text entry T9 Word, or T9 for text on 9 keys, requ ires only one key press per letter , and recognizes the most commonly used word of a numeric sequence. For example, to enter the wo rd hello, you can spell ou t the word by pressing only five keys, 4-3-5-5-6.
55 4. Pressing permits selection from the options: Phone Book, T9 W ord, ABC, Symbol, com, edu, net, Save Address, and 123. 5. After finding an d entering the Send T o: information, press to go to the Message menu. 6. Enter your message data, (press to select your text entry mode), when finished, press to return to the Send New Msg menu.
56 Outbox Y our phone stores message s in Outbox, regardless of whether the message was successfully transmitted. If Do Not Save was not set in the Save Message setting under Msg Setup, you can review , resend , or delete any me ssage stored in the Outbox.
57 incoming messages until you erase the st ored messages from Inbox, Outbox or Filed Msg. Messages and lock mode Incoming messages are received e ven when your phone is in Lock Mode. The screen will display the time and date of the me ssage but you cannot acce ss the message.

W eb Alert Y our phone alerts you w ith incoming browser mess ages. When a new message arrives, your phone will display a text notification together with an audible alert.
59 Message setting 1. In standby mode, pre ss (pre ss when in-use) to display the Message menu. 2. Press for Mes sage settin g. Y ou can preset a number of options fo r general settings or new messages.
60 Save in outbox Y ou are offered three options. Press to save the se tting. Prompt - saves the message. Not Save - does not sa ve the message. Auto Save - automatically saves the created message to the Outbox after the message is transmitted. Entry Mode Y ou can navigate between Alphabet and T9 W ord (predictive keypad) for the default setting.
61 Receiving a message in standby mode When your phone receives incoming message s in st andby mode, the ring er sounds, (unless it is turned o ff), and the screen displays: New V oicema il, New T ext, New Page or New BrowserMsg. The message icon is displaye d, and remains on display until you lis ten to, or re ad, the new message.
62 • Y ou can press to call your ma il box directly to review voice mails. • Y ou can press for the Inbox . 3. Use the to highlight the message you want to review , press to open it.
63 • T o saved Msg: to save your message. • Save addr: to save the sender’ s e-mail address to the Phone Book . The address is automatically copied into the Add Entry or E-mail Entry field. 4. Pressing returns yo u to the previous Inbox messages list screen.
64 Mobile web Y our phone comes equipped with Wi reless Web Internet access through a MiniBrowser . The MiniBrow ser displays immediate in formation through your phone. Y ou can view specia lly designed versions of popular sites which include sports, weather , news, stock quote s, etc.
65 T o launch the MiniBrowser . 1. In standby mode, pre ss , or . 2. Press for Ge t in Web. 3. Press the left soft key image. Y our phone will begin its search to launch the MiniBrowser . 4. Once connected, the Home Pa ge (or the last page visited) , will be displayed.
66 The minibrowser start and end prompts Y our phone c an be set to view a prompt each time you st art or end a MiniBrowser session. Y ou have the opti on to change this default prompt setting. The defaul t setting may differ as it is base d upon the carrier’ s requirement.
67 Navigating the web When you use the MiniBrowser , some of the keys on your keypad will oper ate differently than during a normal phone call. The MiniBrowser presents on-screen items in any of the f.
68 Asterisk / Shift: Press this key before entering text to create upper case characters. You can also use this key to move back one space on the display screen. 0/Next: Press this key to enter a 0, or to move to the next word when in T9 predi ctive word entry mode.
69 Making a phone call while using the minibrowser Y ou may initiate a phone ca ll from the MiniBrowser if the site you are using supports this feature (the phone number may be high light ed and the left soft key will appear as Call). Pressing the Ca ll soft key will call the number .

82 Key beep Key Beep allows you to adjust the tone leng th and volume level that the keypad generates each time you press a key . The di splay icon shows up to 5 levels (the loudest setting). No bars indicate that the key be ep function is silenced. 1.
83 Alerts Y o ur phone will beep from ti me to time, this beep is calle d an alert beep. Alert beeps can easily be turned on or of f. Th is feature offers the f ollowing options: Minute beep, Service, Conne ct, Disconnect, Fade, Roam, and Privacy .
84 Note: Y ou can press to return to the previous menu at any time. When a call experiences a failed or dropped cal l, a text message will display . Press to clear the prompt and return to standby mode. If the dropped call was an outgoing call from y our phone, you can redial the number automat ically by p ressi ng twice.
85 Roam ringer When this option is set to On , your phon e sounds a uniq ue tone when a call is received in a network service area. This feature is set to On by default. T o set the Roam Ringer alert on or off: 1. In standby mode, pre ss t o display the Main menu .
86 Vo i c e d i a l Y our phone features Voice Dial(ing). Us ing the V oice Dialing feature requires that you first program the phone to reco gni ze the name of the person you are calling. Note: Y ou can store only one voice dial entr y per stored name.
87 5. Wait for the beep and then say the name. For best resu lts, use names with at least two syllables, or use bo th a first and last name. The ph one stores the name as a “first” sa mple, and then prompts you to sa y the name again. 6. Respond to the prompt by repeating the name exactly as you did the first time.

Use to select an option. The options are: data/fax off, fax for nex t call, fax until powered off, data for next call, and data until powered off.
92 Note: Once you have set your phone’ s mode to fax for next call, you cannot receive regular voice calls until you chan ge back to data/fax off, or a fax is received. Ending a fax or data call Some of the normal ways to e nd a call, like closing the phone, will not end a fax or data call.
93 Security Y our phone p rovides security optio ns , including a user -p rogrammable lock code and em er gency/secret ph on e number features . T o access the Security menu in standby mode: 1. Press . 2. Enter the 4-digit lock code (normally the lock code is the last 4- digits of your phone number) .
94 Locking the phone The Security menu allows you to lock the phone ma nua lly or automatically when powering on your phone or to leave the phone unlocked . T o lock th e phone: 1. In standby mode, pre ss t o display the Main menu . 2. Press for Security and enter your current lock code.
95 Restricting the use of your phone This feature allows you to rest rict th e use of your phon e. 1. In standby mode, pre ss t o display the Main menu . 2. Press for Security . Enter your current lock c ode. 3. Press f or the Restriction options. 4. Use the to restrict the use of yo ur Outgoing calls, Incoming calls, and your Phone Bo ok.
96 Emergency number Y our phon e provides the optio n of storing three emergency numbers. Eac h number can be up to 32 digits. All emergency numbers can be manually called at any time even when your phone is locked or restricted. This can be a useful f eature for cont rolling what numbers can be called from your phone.

98 Resetting your phone Resetting the phone returns all set up op tions to the factory def ault settings. T o reset the phone: 1. In standby mode, pre ss t o display the Main menu . 2. Press for Setup and Security 3. Enter your current lock code. 4. Press for Reset Phone .
99 Auto answer With this option activated , your phone will automat ical ly answer c alls after the specified number of seconds. This opti ons is useful when driving. If Auto Answer is set to Off the phone will not a nswer an incoming call. If you do not answer the call it i s automatically stored in the Missed Call log.

Y our phone informs you of the current signal streng th by displaying a number of bars next to th e signal strength icon.
