Understanding Y our Phone 19 Y our Phone’s Modes Backlights Backlights ill uminate the int ernal and exte rnal displays an d the keypad. When you press any key or ope n the phone, t he backlights com e on. They go of f when no keys are pressed within a period of time set in t he Backlight menu.
20 Tip: Y ou can also cycle between T9 Word , Abc , and 123 by repeatedl y pressing and holding the key until the phone beeps . Lock Mode When the phone is in Lock Mode, restrict ions are placed on phone use. Y ou can receive calls and me ssages, but cannot place outgoi ng calls (except for emergency numbers) until you unlock the phone.

Call Functions 29 Answering a Call Caller ID Caller ID lets you ident ify who is calling you by displaying a ca ller’ s number . If the caller’ s name and number are st ored in Contacts, the call er’ s name also appears. If you’ve assigned a pic ture to the entry, it appears in the display as well.
