Getting Started 4 Import ant!: Y ou must fully charge the battery the first time you use your phone, otherwise you could damage the battery. 1. Insert the top end of the batt ery f irst, matching the gold contacts on the top end of the battery to those i nside the phone.
5 4. Lift the batter y (3) up and a way from the phone, bott om end first. Charging the Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable standard Li-Ion batter y . Only use Samsung-approved char ging devices and batteries. Samsung accessories are designed to maximize battery life.
Getting Started 6 Import ant!: Y ou must unplug the adapter before removing the battery from the phone during charging to avoid damage. Low Ba tter y Indicator The battery indicator ( ) in the upper -right corner of the display indicates power level. Monitor the battery strength and ensure your battery is adequately charged.
7 Note: Once your Voicemail account has been set up, you can use the Voicemail folder (under the Message menu) to view details of voice messages in your Voicemail box. 1. In standby mode, press and ho ld the key or enter your own mobile number and pre ss to dial Vo icemail.

11 SEND K ey The SEND key ( ) is used to ans wer calls, dial cal ls, and to recall the last number(s) dialed, received, or missed. • Press once to answer calls . • Enter a number and briefly press to make a call. • In standby mode, briefly press to display a list of recent calls to and from your phone.

13 Standb y Mode Standby mode is the s tate of the phone once it has found service and is idle. The phone goes into standby mode: • After you power the phone on. • When you press after a call or from within a me nu. In standby mode, you will see the time, day , and date as well as all phone status icons.
Understanding Y our Phon e 14 T o exit Silent Mode : 䊳 While in Silent mode and st andby mode, pres s and hold . “ Exit Silent Mode ” briefly appears in the display and your phone returns to standby mode. Vibrate Mode While in Vibrate Mode , your phone does no t ring to indicate incoming calls o r alarms, it vibr ates instead.

Call Functions 16 Section 3: Call Functions This section explains how to make or answer a call. This section also describes the features and functionality associat ed with making or answering a call . Making a Call — Number Entr y Dialing 1. With the phone on, enter the nu mber you wish to call using the keypad.

Call Functions 18 Tw o-T ouch Dialin g Speed Dial numbers 010 thro ugh 099 are T wo-T ouch dialing numbers. Example: For location number 013, briefly press , then press and hold until the name and number appear in the display and the number is dialed.
19 Answ ering a Call Y our phone noti fies you of a call in the f ollowing ways: • A ring tone sounds and/or your phone vibrates (Y our phone provides: seven ring volume settings inc luding 1- beep, Vibrate, or Silence All, and/or different ring types to distinguish callers.

Call Functions 22 All Calls Y ou can acce ss calls from the Outgoing Calls , Incoming Calls , and Missed Calls logs individually , or you can use the All Calls option to access al l calls from a ll call logs. 1. In standby mode, press MENU ➔ Calls ➔ All Calls .
23 Data Coun ter Use Data Counter to view the amo unt of data that has been sent or received (or a total of both) using the data services that your phone supports, such as Axcess Sh op. The Data Counter can be a helpful tool for moni toring data usage, especi ally if yo ur servic e agreement has spe cified limits.
Menu Navigation 24 Section 4: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu navi gation and keypad shortcuts for your phone. Menu Naviga tion Access the menus and sub-menus in y our phone using the Navigation key ( ) and sof t keys ( or ), or use a shortcut.

Entering T ext 26 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired text entry mode when entering characters using the phone keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry syste m to reduce the number of key stro kes needed to enter text.
27 Using T9 ® Mode T9 Word recognizes commonly used words for the numeric sequence of key press e s and inserts the word into your message. T9 Word is much faster than the traditional method of text entr y (Abc) and requires only one key press per le tter of the word tha t you’re spelling.
Entering T ext 28 Entering Numbers Enter numbers into a text message while in 123 mode. 1. While composing a text me ssage, press the Left sof t key . Select 123 . 2. Enter numbers while in 123 mode by pressing the key labeled with the correspondin g number that you wish to insert into your message.
29 Section 6: Understanding Y our Contacts This section explains how to ma nage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Contacts. C ontacts entries can be sorted by name.

35 Add Pauses to an Existing Contacts Entr y 1. Find th e desired entry in th e Contacts list. (F or more information, refer to “Finding a Contacts Entry” on page 32.) 2. Press the Edit soft key . The Edit Contact screen appears in the display with the contact name highlighted.

39 Section 7: Messaging This section explains how to cr eate, send, receive, and view different types of messages. Th is section also des cribes the features and functionality associated with messaging.

41 Receiving N ew Messages When you receive a message in standby mode, an alert sounds (unless turned off) and a New Message notification appears in the display along with the closed envelope icon ( ).
Messaging 42 Message Folders Inbo x Received messages of all types (except Voice Mail) are sto red in the Inbox. 1. From t he Messages menu, select Inbox , to open the Inbox folder . 2. Use the navigation keys to highlight a message, then do one of the fo llowing: • Press the Erase soft key to delete the message.
43 Messages and Lock Mode Y our phone can still receive me ssages while in Lock Mode. The time and date of the messa ge appear i n the display , but you cannot access the message until you enter the lock code. (F or more informatio n, refer to “Lock Phone” on page 66.
Messaging 44 Select an option to p erform its function. • Press to return to the Outbox list. Drafts Folder Messages in the Dr afts folder a re those that have bee n composed but never sent. Y ou can return to the Drafts folder at any time to view, edit, or send a draft message.

Browser 48 • Simple text. Y ou can act upon options or links by using the s oft keys. Browser soft k eys The bottom of the Browser displa y is a bar that contains browser commands. The Left and Right ( ) soft keys on the keypad are used to execute th e command that appears above them in the displ ay .
49 Section 9: Games & Apps This section explains the Games & Apps features where users can downlo ad multimedia, appli cations, games, and check news and sports. Finding Applications With Games & Apps, you can downlo ad full featured applications over the air including games, pers onalized ring tones, pictures, and more.

T ools/Utilities 54 4. Use the navigation keys to highlight the desired option, then press . Wor l d T im e World Time lets you view the time of day or night in another part of the world. World Time displays time in any of 45 different cities and/or time zones around the world.
