Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section allows you to qui ckly start using your Samsung SCH-R920 phone by installing th e SIM and microSD ca rds, installing and charging the battery , activati ng your service, a nd setting up your vo icemai l account.
6 T ext Conventions This manual provides condensed in formation abou t how to use your phone. T o make this possible , the follo wing text conventions are used to represent often-used steps: Example: “From the Home screen, press Menu , then touch Settings ➔ Wireless an d networks ➔ Wi-Fi settings .
Getting Started 7 Import ant!: The plug-in SIM card information and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratching or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card.
8 Installing the Batter y 1. Remove the batt ery cove r . (For more informa tion, see “Removing the battery cover” .) 2. Insert the battery int o the phon e, aligning the gold contacts on the batter y with the gold contact s in the phone. Push down on the bottom of the ba tter y until it snaps into place.
Getting Started 9 Char ging the Batt er y Y our phone comes with a Wall/U SB Charger (Charging Head and USB cable) to rapidly charge your phone from any 120/220 V AC outlet. Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the ba ttery before using your phone for the first time.

Getting Started 11 T ur ning Y our Phone On 䊳 Press and hold the Pow er/Lock Key for three seconds. While powering on, the phone connects with the network (both digita l and L TE), then di splays t he Locked scre en and puzzle pieces for any active Notificatio n alerts.
12 V oicemail All unanswered calls to your phone are sent t o voicemail, even if your phone is turned off, so you’ ll want to set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as you activate your phon e. Setting up V oicemail 1. Press Home , then touch Phone , then touch and hold .

Call Functions 31 Dialing Emer gency Numbers When you call an Emergency Nu mber , such as 911, your phone locks itself in em ergency mode, only allowing you to m ake calls to the emergency call center you original ly contacted. This enables emergenc y operators to more easily dispatch aid.

Entering T ext 37 Screen Keyboard Types Y our phone offers three on -screen QWERTY keyboards: • Swype (default): Use the Swype keyboard to e nter words by gliding your finger over the on-screen QWER TY keyboard, lifting your finger between words. Y ou can also touch individual keys or use Swype Word Prediction or Voice Recognition .
38 Here are a few tips to get you started: • Spacing is automatic : When you finish a word, just lift your fing er and start the next word. • Double letters : Just “scribble” on the key . • Capitalization : Swype recognizes and capitalizes the fi rst word of sentences.
