Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted Understanding this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow the same order as the menus and sub-menus in your Samsung Glyde™. A robu st index for quick refere nce to most features begins on page 149.
5 Using A No n-Suppor ted Bat ter y Samsung handsets do not accept the use of a non-supported battery . When using a non-supported battery , you will hear a series of beeps and you will see a warn ing message that indicates: “ NON SUPPORTED BA TTERY .
Getting Started 6 2. Insert the top end of the ba ttery into the phone housing using the directional arrow prin ted on the battery . The gold contacts at the batter y end m ust align with contacts on the phone. Push bottom e nd of the battery down until it snaps into place.
7 R emo ving the Batter y 1. Push the top of the battery cover forward. Lift the bottom of the batter y cove r to remove it. 2. Lift the batter y from the bot tom end and remove. 3. Insert the top of the batt ery cove r down into the corresponding slots (positione d on each side of the headset cover).
Getting Started 8 Using the Memor y Car d Inst alli ng the Memor y Car d 1. Push the top of the batter y cover forwa rd. Lift the bottom of the battery cove r to remove it. 2. Insert the memor y card in the me mory c ard slot fully until it clicks into place.

Getting Started 10 Trav el Charger The travel charger is a c onvenie nt, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your Glyde™ from any 120/ 220 VAC outlet. 1. T urn the connector cover to ac cess the charger port. Insert the travel charger adapter end into the charging port on the left side of the Glyde™.
11 Locking and U nlocking the Display Press the Power/Lock/Unlock key briefly on the side of the phone to lock the dis play while the backli ght is on. The backlight will turn off after 15 secon ds (default) of non-use and automatically lo ck the display.

Understanding Y our Phon e 14 Closed View of Y our Phone The following illustration shows the main external features of your phone. Phone Exter n al Featur es 1. Speaker : Music, Ringtones, and Sounds are played through the speaker . These speakers provide stereo sound for multimedia files.
15 8. Vol u m e k e y : Adjusts the master volume or adjusts the voice volume during a call. T o mute the ringer during an incoming call, press the vol u me key up or down. Also, press and hold the key to ac tivate Sound Off m ode/Normal mode. 9. Camera/Camcorder key : Press to activate the camera, or press and hold to ac tivate the camcorder .

Shift Key : T oggles the casing fo r alphabet characters between mixed case, uppercase and lowercase. Case will remain as selecte d until the Shift k ey is pressed again.

The Annunciator Lin e , which is the top line of your phone’ s display , shows icons that indi cate network status, battery power , signal strength, connection type and more. 2. The Dial Pad button allows yo u to access the touch keypad for dialing number s.
Understanding Y our Phon e 18 Annun ciator icons Standalone Mode : Appears when Standalone Mode is on. When on, all RF functions for your phone are disabled, and you cannot use your phone to place or receive calls. Roaming : Y our phone is outside your home area.
19 Event Sta tus Bar and Ev ent Manager The Event Status bar appears on the bottom of the Home screen display . If an icon is illumina ted in colo r on the front display , it indica tes a recent event for that functi on. T apping on the bar activa tes the Event Manager menu.

T ap the icons or text in the Event Manager menu to perform the action shown in t he illustration belo w. Note: Icons on the Event Status bar and Event Manager screen will be in color to indicate new and upcoming events.
21 Menu Screen Layout The Samsung Glyde™ use s a touch screen that displays menus, sub-menus and other icons for operati on of the phon e. When you access menus and appl ications on the phone, the top icons (signal strength, battery level, etc.

Call Button Enter a number and tap to make a call. T ap to pick up a waiting call while already on a call .

Call Functions 30 Section 4: Call Functions This section describes how to make, answer or e nd a call. I t also includes the features and function ality associated with making, answering or ending a call. Making a Call 1. From the Home screen, tap Dial Pad .

Note: If the phone number is saved in your Contacts, the icon to the right of the number will be represented by the appropriate icon ( Mobile , Work , Home , etc.
35 Note: No more than 10 contacts may be added to any group. 11. T o assign a Speed Dial location, tap t he scroll bar to highlight the number you woul d like to assign. T ap and select the Set Speed Dial option. 12. T ap an unassigned loca tion. A confirmation message appears in the display .

V oice Commands Voice Commands is advanced speech recognition software that can be use d to acti vate a w ide variety of functions on your Glyde ™ .
Call Functions 38 1. From th e Home screen, tap the Shortcuts T ab . T ap Voice Commands . 2. After a brief pause, a list of optional commands appears in the display and the audio pr ompt "Please say a command" plays through the speakerphone.
39 3. Say “Send T ext” or “Send Pict ure” or “Send Video” at a distance of 3-12 inches from the microphone. “Please say the name or number” plays through th e speakerphone. 4. Say the name e xactly as it is displayed in you r Contacts list, or say the phone num ber of the recipient.
Call Functions 40 Check <Ite m> Checking Phone Status 1. Fro m t he Shortcuts menu, touch Voice Com mands . 2. A list of commands appears in the display and the audio prompt "Please say a co mmand" plays through the speakerphone. 3. Say “Check” at a distance of 3-12 inches from the microphone.
41 Play <Playlist> Play Play launches the My Music menu screen. Op tions are listed in the following order: Genres, Albums, Playl ist, Play Al l, Artists, Songs, Inbox and Shuffle.

43 Section 5: Understanding Y our Contacts This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address Book. Contacts Icons The following table shows the various contact icons. Adding a Contact When you add in formatio n to your Contacts, you can add it as a new entry or as an exist ing entry .

45 6. If you selected Ad d New Contact , the fo llowing t ypes are available. 7. T a p the desired entr y type ( Mobile 1 , Mobile 2 , Home , Work , etc.). 8. Ta p t h e Name field to enter a name f or the entry using the touch keypad. T ap if you wi sh to select a differ ent method of text entry , such as Word, Abc, ABC, 123, or Symbols.

47 Add a Ne w Member t o a Gr oup Once you have selected the desi red group, you can add Contacts from your Contact List to th at group, using the following procedure: 1. From the Groups menu, tap the group type. The current members of that gr oup display .

65 Creating and Sending Video Messages Video Message combines text, a nd video creating an intuit ive message. This is also known as Multimedia Messaging (MMS). Note: The QWERTY keyboard is recommended for creating video messages. 1. With the slide open from the Home scre en, tap Messaging .

At the “ RE-ENTER NEW CO DE ” prompt, re-enter lock code and tap . “ PHONE ONL Y CODE SET ” or “ CALLS & SERVICES CODE SET ” message appears in the di splay confirming tha t your lock code was changed. Note: Y our Glyde™ does not allow you to view the lock code for security reasons.

The following options display: • Unlocked : If locked, unlocks the device or phone, depe nding on your selection. •O n P o w e r U p : The Lock Code is req uired whenever you power up the phone.

Warn ing!: Choosing the Restore Phone option will return your Glyde™ to the default settings and erase all user data including pictures, videos, music, messages, contacts and downloaded application s stored on the phone.
91 Searching for a Menu Item Note: Quick Search must be turned on to perform the procedures listed below. 1. From the Home screen, tap Dial Pad . 2.
