6 Remo ving the Batter y 1. If your phone is turned on, press an d hold to turn it off. 2. Press down on the directio nal arrow at the bottom end of the batter y cover and slide the cover toward the botto m end of the ph one (1). 3. Lift the cover up and away fro m the phone, bottom end first (2).
Getting Started 7 Using the T ra v el Adapter The travel adapter included with your phone is a conv en ient, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phon e from any 120/220 V AC outlet. 1. Plug the large end of the T ravel Adap ter into a standard 120 VAC or 220 V AC wall outlet.
8 Low Batter y I ndicato r The battery indicator ( ) in the upper -right corner of th e disp lay indicates power level. Monitor the ba ttery strength and ensure your battery is adequately charged. • Five bars ( ) indicate a full charge. • An empty battery icon ( ) indicates a near empty battery .

10 Install a Memor y Card 1. Open the back cove r of your phone. 2. Insert the memor y card — contact si de facing down and smaller end pointing toward the phone — into the memor y card slot. 3. Press the memory card into the sl ot until the ca rd locks into place.

Call Functions 21 Making a Call — Contact Dialing Y ou can store phone numbers and contact names in your Contacts list. T o call one of your Contacts, do the f ollowing: 1. Press the Menu ➔ Contacts ➔ Find . The Find screen with your Contacts list appears in the display .
22 Answ ering a Call Y our phone notifies you of a call in the fol lowing ways: • A ringtone sounds and/or your phone vibrates. Y our phone provides seven ring volume settings inc luding: Silence All , Vib r a t e , Low , Low/Medium , Medium , Medium/High , or High and/or different ring types to distinguish callers .
Call Functions 23 The In -Use Options Menu Y ou can access numerous menus and features while in a call. Note: If the call is disconnected while you are accessing the In-Use Option, the In-Use Option disappears from the display and the phone eventually returns to standby mode.
24 Recen t Calls The Recent Calls menu stores informatio n about Outgoing, Incoming, and Missed calls. Y ou can also vi ew times for yo ur last call and the time totals fo r all calls. R evie w the Calls Log 1. In standby mode, press Menu ➔ Rece nt Calls .

Voice Service 29 V oice Settings Choice Lists VoiceSi gnal uses choice li sts when it is not confident it has correctly recognized a name or number . In this case, it can display a list of up to th ree possible choices, and prompt you to co nfirm the correct o ne.

34 Finding a Contacts Entr y V o ice Method Use the V oiceSigna l Contacts command to view contact informa tion for any named contact st ored in yo ur Contact s list by s aying t he name. Note: The Contact s command shows the requested contact information in the display but does not dial any phone numbers for the contact.

36 Search by Number This option allo ws you to find a Contacts list entry by searching on one of the contact’ s phone numbers. 1. In standby mode, enter the first fe w nu mbers of the Cont acts list entry you wish to find (such as the area code or area code and exchange — for example, 888-987).
Understanding Y our Contacts 37 Assign ing Speed Di al Number s When you add or edit an entry to the Cont acts list, you have the option of assigning a Speed Dial number using the Options pop-up menu or of returning to the Contac ts menu and using the Speed Dial option.
38 Renam ing a Contacts Group Use this op tion to ren ame a Group in your Contacts list. 1. In standby mode, press Menu ➔ Contacts ➔ Group . 2. Highlight the Group (other than No Groups ) that you wish to rename, then press the Optio ns soft key and select Rename .

Creating and Sending New Messages This section guides you through procedures for creating and sen ding text and pictures.

Messages 43 Mess age S end O ption s Y ou can set priority , validity , and other options be fore yo u send a message. The type of compose d message and t he highlight ed message field determine the options tha t appear in the Send Options list. 1. After composing a T ext or a Picture message, press th e Options soft key .
44 Checking your V oicemail 1. In standby mode, press a nd hold until you’re co nnected to y our Wireless Carrier’ s voicemail sys tem. A recorded message prompts you for a password. 2. Enter your password, then follow the reco rded prompts, to listen to your voice message(s), change administra tive options, and so o n.
Messages 45 Outbo x Y our phone stores outgoing messages in the Outbox, regardless of whether the message was succe ssfully sent to, or rece ived b y , the addressee. Tip: Verify whether and when a message or E-mail was successfully received by enabling the Delivery Ack message send option.
46 Draf ts Fold er Messages in the Draft s folder are those th a t have been compos ed but never sent. Y ou can return to the Drafts folder at an y time to view, edit, or send a draft message. 1. In standby mode, press Menu ➔ Messages ➔ Drafts . A list of your dra ft messages appears in the display .
Messages 47 Vo i c e m a i l New voice messa ges in your voice mail box are logged in the Voicemail folder of the Messages menu. Open the Voice mail folder to vi ew the Callback # (if available), Urgency , and other details of new voice mail messag es.
48 Section 8: Camera Use your phone to take full color digital pictures, disp lay them on your phon e’ s vivid color displa y , and instantly share th em with family an d friends. It’ s fun, and as easy to use as a tradit ional point-and-c lick ca mera.
Camera 49 Camera Options The Camera Options let you temporarily adjust default camera setti ngs to suit availabl e lighting, the subject of the photo, or the purpose of the photo, for the current camera session. Wh en yo u exit the came ra, yo ur Camera Options values revert to their default values.
50 Night Shot Night Shot lets yo u take pictur es in low light condit ions. 䊳 In camera mode, press t he Options soft key , then highlight to select the Night Shot setting. Se lect Off or On . Self Timer Self Timer lets you delay ta king a picture long e nough to let you jo in others in a picture.
Camera 51 Whit e Ba la nce White Balanc e allows you to adjust picture quality according to available light. 䊳 In camera mo de, press the Options soft key , then highlight / / / / . The following values appe ar in the camera screen: Auto, Sunny , Cloudy , T ungsten and Fluorescent.
52 Settings When you change Camera Settings values, your changes are saved for future camera sessions, unlik e changes to Came ra Options. T o restor e Camera Settings to their default values, select Reset Settings . 䊳 In camera mode, press t he Options soft key , highlight .
My Folder 53 Section 9: My F older The My Folde r menu allows you to connect to your Br owser to buy ringtones an d graphics, to access your came ra to take pictures and vi ew your saved images and to access your preloaded ringtones and yo ur downloaded ringtones and your own recordings.
54 My Ringtones Select My Ringtones to record n ew sounds or choose fro m preloaded sounds and assign Ri ngtone (calls), Co ntact ID, and A lert T one. Y ou ca n also add sounds to a picture message. 1. In standby mode, press Menu ➔ My Folder ➔ My Ringtones .
My Folder 55 Music Player Y ou can use your Music Player to play musi c files that you have transferred onto a microSD™ Memory Card using a personal computer .

My Folder 57 Playlists Adding a New Play list 1. In standby mode, press Menu ➔ My Folder ➔ Music Player . The Music Player screen appears in the display . 2. Press the Library soft key , then select Playlists . The Playlists screen appears in the display .
58 Section 10: Browser This sectio n outlines how to laun ch your Browser , how to navigate to other pa ges on the Web, and how the keys on the ke ypad are used with the Web application. Y ou can surf the Web and download ringt ones and wa llpapers using your phone.

Y ou can use your phone to schedule events, set re minders, perf orm calc ula tions, and more with the functions provided by thi s useful feature.

Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless co mmunications techno logy capa ble of exchanging information over a distance of about 30 fee t without requiring a physical connection.
62 Regist ered Li st Registered List provides a list of Bluet ooth wi reless technology devices previously connected to your handset. 䊳 At the Bluetooth menu, select Registered List . The Bluetooth screen appears in the displ ay showi ng a list of device s previously connected to your device.

T ools 65 5. Enter the start and End da tes and times for the even t using the keypad. Enter the dates and times for the event using 2 digits for day , month, hour , and minute entries. Use 4 digits for year entries. 6. T o change between AM and PM , use the Left an d Right navigation keys.
66 3. Enter memo text using th e keypad. (For more information, refer to “Entering Te x t ” on page 17.) 4. When you’re finished entering memo text, pre ss to save the memo. Alar m Clock Y our phone has an alarm c lock that can be set to go off once, or da ily at a specified time.

The Calculator appears in the display . 2. Enter the first number in your calcul ation using the keypad (numbers can be up to nine digits long).

Select the conv ersion feature you wi sh to use. The selected conv ersion feature screen appears in the display with the From unit field highlighted.
