13 Your Phone 12 Your Phone Backlight The display and keypad are illuminated by a backlight. When you press any key, the backlight illuminates. It turns off if no key is pressed within a given period of time, depending on the Backlight option set in the Phone Settings menu.
14 Your Phone 15 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card and the Battery • Keep all miniature SIM cards out of the reach of small children. • The SIM card and its contacts can easily be damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting or removing the card.

To access these functions during a call, press the Options soft key. Switching the Microphone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’s microphone off, so that the other party cannot hear you.
31 Call Functions 30 Call Functions Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the cur r ent call on hold whenever you want. You can make another call while you have a call in progress if this service is supported by the network. Of these two calls, one is active and the other is on hold and you can swap between the calls.

Entering the tone for a character is optional, but it is especially useful if the Pinyin spelling is similar between characters.
50 Entering Text Chinese Stroke( ) Mode This mode allows you to enter individual Chinese strokes, in written order - from top to bottom, and from left to right. Your phone provides Chinese Simplified Stroke mode and Chinese T raditional Stroke mode. T ext Area Displays the selected characters.

75 Call Records 74 Call Records V ia this menu, you can view the phone calls: • Missed • Received • Dialled The number and name (if available) are displayed together with the date and time at which the call was made. You can also view call times and costs.

The screen displays the: • Memo location • Date and time when the memo was recorded • Recording time counter The maximum recording time is about 35 seconds. 90 91 T o n e s Tones Y ou can use the Tones menu to customise various sound settings, such as the: • Ringing tone, volume and type • Composing your own melody • Sounds made when you press a key, make an er r or or receive a message Ring Tone Menu 4-1 This option allows you to select the phones ringing tone.

Network Services Menu 5-2 These menu functions are network services. Please contact your service provider to check their availability and subscribe to them, if you so wish. Call Diverting No te : The call d iver t opti ons th at are not su ppor t e d b y y our ne twor k oper ator may not be s hown .
T o deactivate specific call diverting settings, proceed as follows. 1. Select the call diverting option to be deactivated. 2. Select the type of c all to which this option appl i e s. 3. Press the Remove soft key. The phone sends your settings to the network and the network’s acknowledgement is displayed.
Call Waiting This network service enables you to be informed when someone is trying to reach you during another call. T o set your call waiting options, proceed as follows. 1. Select the type of calls to which the call waiting option is to be applied by pressing or until the appropriate option is highlighted and then press Select .
109 S e t t i n g s 108 S e t t i n g s Preferred List: allows you to list your prefer red networks to be used when roaming. Your phone uses the networks in order of appearance in this list, provided that the network is available. When you select this option, the cur rent preferred list is displayed if it already exists (see the procedure below).
111 S e t t i n g s 110 S e t t i n g s Deactivate: deactivates the CUG function. Index List: lets you list, add or delete CUG index numbers. The list of cur rent CUG indexes appears. Add a new CUG index (as advised by your service provider) or delete a selected group.
Change PIN This feature allows you to change your cur rent PIN toa new one, provided that the PIN Check feature is enabled. You must enter the curr ent PIN before you can specify a new one. Once you have entered a new PIN, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again.
115 S e t t i n g s SIM Lock When the SIM Lock feature is enabled, your phone only works with the cur rent SIM. You must enter the SIM lock code. Once you have entered the lock code, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again. T o unlock the SIM, you must enter the SIM lock code.
