F or 3G services, you can purchase a USIM (Universal Subscrib er Identity Module) card.

Using the Home screen When you turn on your de vice, the Ho me screen, t he device’ s idle screen, appear s. Y ou can also access this screen by pressing from any program .

47 3 Synchronisation Using Microsoft ® ActiveSync ® , you can synchronise data on your desktop computer with the data on y our device. Synchronisation comp ares the data on yo ur device with your desktop computer and updat es both your devi ce and computer with the latest data.
Synchronisation 48 Installing ActiveSync Before beginning synchronisation, you must install Acti veSync on you r deskt op computer using th e suppli ed CD-ROM. Y ou can also downlo ad the latest version of ActiveS y nc from the Microsoft web site. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of y o ur desktop computer .
Synchronisation 49 Customising co nnection settings T o establish a connection betw een your computer and the device, you must enable the connections you want to use in the ActiveSy nc program . By default, all connections are enabled. 1. From the ActiveS ync window on your computer , select File → Connection Set tings.
Synchronisation 50 The connection is established and the Microsoft ActiveS ync window appears. The synchron isation automatically b egins. Notes : • When an error occurs with a USB connect ion, activate the DHCP Client service, or deactiv ate the firewall or VPN environm ent.

55 4 Call functions This chapter explains all of the call functions provided by your d evic e. Turning the phone functions on and off Y ou can choose to turn off the phone functions and just use the PDA functions at any time and then turn it back on when you want.
Call functions 56 Using the Dialling screen When you press , the Dialling screen opens. Y ou can view the most recent calls you ha ve dialled, received, and missed on the screen.

Call functions 60 Answerin g or ignoring a call When a call comes in and the device rings or vibrates, depending on the ringer setting: • Press the Answer soft key or to answer the call. • Press the Ignore soft key or press to reject the call. Y ou can also press and hold or to reject the call.
Call functions 61 Using In-call options During a call, you can access v arious options by pressing the Menu soft key . For a v oice call, the following options are av ailable: • Hold : places the current call on hold. • Whisper mode On/Off : turn on or off Whisper mode.
Call functions 62 • Send DTMF : send DT MF (Dual tone multi-frequency) tones of a specif ic number as a grou p. This option is helpful for entering a passw ord or an account number when you call an automated system, like a banking service. • Mute keys : turn the key tones off or on.
Call functions 63 Call-related features Checking your voicemail The first speed dial location is assign ed to your vo icemail box by default. When you insert your SIM car d into the device, it automatically detects and sets as default the voicemail centre number of yo ur mobile serv ice pr ovider .

Call functions 66 Customising your phone functions Y ou can personalise the settings of the phone functions, the services you hav e, and the network to which you have connected. Accessing the Phone setting opt ions 1. On the Home screen, press the Start soft key .
Call functions 67 Reset Call Cost : allows you to reset the cost counter . Edit Cost Limit : allows you to enter the maximum cost that you authorise for y our calls. Calls can be made as long as the preset max cost is not ex ceeded. Price per unit : allows you to set the cost of one unit.
Call functions 68 Dialling code : Y ou can enter an area code. The code will be automatically added before a phone number wh en dialling. • Caller ID : When you place a call, your phone number can be display ed to or hidden from the person to w hom you are calling.
Call functions 69 Select a Network : Select a network from the a vailable networks. Preferred Networks : Set up a list of your preferred networks. Y ou can set priority of the networks or add networks manually by selecting them from the preset network list or entering their service ID codes.
Call functions 70 All calls : No calls can be received. When roaming : Calls cannot be received when y ou are using your device outside of your hom e service area. Off : Call barring is de activate d; all calls can be receiv ed normally . F or outgoing call barring, the following options are availa ble : All calls : No calls can be made.
Call functions 71 Video Call • Outgoing Image : Y ou can set whether the device shows the camera view to the person with whom y ou are speaking, or select an image to be shown instead of the camera view . Incoming Video Call : set to show you via the front camera .
