3 introducing your phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, available optional services, and many other features.
4 introducing your phone 2. Lift the cover up (2) and away from the phone (3). 3. Carefully slide the SIM card into the SIM card socket (as shown) until the card locks into place. Make sur e that the card’s gold contacts face into the phone and that the upper-left angled corner of the card is positioned as shown.
5 introducing your phone Install the battery: 4. Insert the battery into the opening on the b ack of the phone, making sure the connectors align (1). 5. Gently press down to secure the battery (2). 6. Place the battery cover onto the back of the phone (1) and press down (2).
6 introducing your phone Charge the Battery Before using the phone for the first time, you must charge the battery . Y ou can charge the phone with the provided travel adapter or by connecting the phone to a PC using a PC data cable. T o charge the battery using the travel adapter: 1.
7 introducing your phone 3. Plug the large end of the travel adapter into a power outlet. 4. When the battery is fully charged (the b att er y icon is no longer moving), unplug the travel adapter from the power outlet and then from the phone. 5. Close the cover to the multifunction jack.
8 introducing your phone Insert a Memory Card (optional) Y our phone accepts a microS D™ or microSDHC™ memory card up to 32GB to expand available memory space. This secure digital card enables you to exchange images, music, and data between SD-compatibl e devices.
9 introducing your phone T o remove a memory card: Before removing the memory card, unmount it for safe removal. 1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → SD card and phone storage. 2. In the External SD card section, select Unmount SD card .
10 introducing your phone Phone Layout This section outlines some key features of your phone and describes the screen and the icons that appear whe n the phone is in use.
11 introducing your phone Front of phone 1. Earpiece: allows you to hear the caller. 2. Home screen indicator: shows which Home screen is presently displayed. 3. Application icons: you can place shortcuts to your favorite applications on the Home screen.
12 introducing your phone Side of Phone 1. Power/Accessory Interface connector: lets you connect a travel charger or other optional accessories such as a USB/data cable or a hands-free headset. 2. V olume keys: let you adjust the ringer volume while in standby mode or adjust the sound volume during a call.
13 introducing your phone Back of phone 1. Camera lens: used to take pictures and shoot videos. 2. External speaker: allows you to hear sound without holding the phone to your ear or using the headphones, such as when the Speakerphone is turned on.

16 getting started with your phone Turn Your Phone On and Off T o turn your phone on, press and hold the lock key [ ]. Y our phone will automatically connect to the network. When you turn on your phone for the first time, tap the Android image on the screen and follow the on - screen instructions to set up your phone for its first use.
17 getting started with your phone Use the Touch Screen Y our phone’s touch screen lets you easily select items or perform functions. T o control the touch screen: • Ta p : T ap once with your finger to select or launch a menu, option, or application.
18 getting started with yo ur phone • Double-tap: T ap twice quickly with your finger to zoom in or out while viewing photos or web pages. T o lock or unlock the touch screen and keys : Y ou can lock the touch screen and keys to prevent any unwanted phone operations.

Customize Your Phone Get more from your phone by customizing it to suit your needs. T o set the current date and time: 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Settings → Date and time .

23 getting started with your phone 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Settings Location and security Set unlock pattern . 2. Follow the on-screen instructions and example patterns and select Next (if needed). 3. Draw a pattern by dragging your finge r to connect at least 4 dots.
24 getting started with yo ur phone Once the PIN lock is enabled, you must enter the PIN each time you turn on the phone. Enter Text Y ou can enter text by selecting characters on the v irtual keypad or by inputting handwriting on the touch screen. Y ou can enter text and create messages or contacts.
25 getting started with your phone 2. Pause on the second character for a moment and then drag your finger to the next character . 3. Continue until you have finished the word. 4. Release the finger on the last character . The word is inserted into the text input fie l d.

31 communication Calls Y ou can use your phone to make and answer calls, use options during calls, and customize and use call-related features. Make and answer calls T o make a call: 1. In Idle mode, select Phone . 2. Enter an area code and phone number.
32 communication T o answer a call: 1. When a call comes in, slide the Accept icon to the right. 2. T o end the call, select End call . T o reject a call: When a call comes in, slide the Reject icon to the left. The caller will hear a busy tone. T o send a message when you reject incoming calls, slide the Reject call with msg icon.
33 communication 3. Select the number that you want to dial. T o use the headset: By plugging the supplied headset into the pho ne, you can make and answer calls: • Answer a call: Press the headset button. • Reject a call: Press and hold th e headset button.
34 communication • T urn off the microphone: Select Mute so that the caller cannot hear you. • Use a Bluetooth headset: Sele ct Headset to use a Bluetooth headset to listen and talk to the caller. • Open the phonebook: Press [ ] → Contacts . • Add a memo: Press [ ] → Memo .

T o set call forwarding for voice calls: Call forwarding is a network feat ure that allows you to send incoming calls to another number that you specify .
36 communication T o view call logs: Y ou can view logs of your calls and filter them by type. 1. In Idle mode, select Phone Call log . 2. Press [ ] → View by and select an option (All calls, Missed calls, Dialed calls, or Received call s ). 3. Select a log to view its details.

43 entertainment Camera Y ou can capture and view photos and videos. Y ou can take photos at resolutions up to 2560 x 1920 pi xels (5 megapixels) and videos at resolutions up to 1280 x 720 pixels. Capturing phot os T o capture a photo: 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Camera .
44 entertainment 3. Aim the lens at the subject and make any neces sary adjustments. • Y ou can also press the volume keys to zoom in and out. • If you want the lens to focu s on a locatio n other than the centre of the screen, tap the preview screen where you want to focus.

After taking photos, select to view the photos. • View more photo s: scroll left or right. • Zoom in or o ut: Select or , doubl e tap on the screen or place two fingers on the screen and slowly pinch or spread them apart.
46 entertainment 5. T ap and hold . The camera will conti nue to take photos until you release the camera shutter. T o capture a panoramic photo: Y ou can take wide panoramic photos using Panorama shooting mode. This mode is convenient for photographing landscapes.
47 entertainment 5. Select . 6. Aim the camera lens at your subject. Y our phone recognizes people in an image and detects their smiles. When the subject smiles, the camera automatically takes a photo. T o capture a beauty photo: Y ou can hide facial imperfections using Beauty mode.

49 entertainment T o capture a photo in Cartoon mode: Y ou can take photos with cartoon effects. 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Camera . 2. Rotate the phone counter-clockwise to switch to the landscape view . 3. Select Cartoon . 4. Make any necessary adjustments with the aid of the guide.
50 entertainment Before taking a photo, select → to access the following sett ings: Effects Apply a special effect, such as sepia or black and white tones. ISO Adjust the sensitiv ity of the camera imaging sensor . Metering Select a type of exposure meter.

60 personal information Contacts Y ou can use contact cards and groups to store personal information in the phone’ s memory or on a SIM card. Y ou can save names, mobile phone numbers, home phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays and more for your contacts.

74 connectivity Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology capable of exchanging information over a distance of about 10 metres without requiring a physical connection. Y ou do not need to line up the phones to beam information with Bluetooth.
75 connectivity T o turn on the Bluetooth wireless feature: 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Settings Wireless and network Bluetooth settings . The preset homepage opens. 2. Select Bluetooth to turn on the Bluetooth wireless feature. A green check mark appears at the right side to indicate that it is turned on.
76 connectivity 3. Search for and pair with a Bluetooth-enabled phone. T o receive data using the Bluetooth wireless feature: 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Settings Wireless and network Bluetooth settings Visib le . Y our phone is visible to other Bluetooth phones for 120 seconds.

85 tools T o stop an alarm: When an alarm sounds: • Press and hold Stop to stop the alarm. • Press and hold Snooze to repeat the alarm after a specified length of time. T o delete an alarm: 1. In Idle mode, select Applications Clock Alarm .
86 tools 2. Set the length of time to count down. 3. Select Start to begin the countdown. Y ou c an now use other functions with the timer counting down in the background. Press [ ] or [ ] and access another application. 4. When the timer expires, tap and hold Stop to stop the alert.

94 settings All calls • Show my number: Show your mobile phone number to recipients. (Y ou must insert the SIM card to use this feature.) • Auto reject: Enable or disable the auto reject feature and specify a list of callers to automatically reject.
95 settings • FDN List: Set up a list of contacts for fixed dialing. Vo i c e m a i l • V oicemail service: Select your service provider or set another provider to receive voicemai ls. • V oicemail: Enter the number to access the voicemail service.
96 settings • Vibratio n intensity: Adjust the vibration intensity of the haptic feedback. • SD card notifications: Set the phone to sound when a memory card is recognized. • Font style: Change the font type for the display text. Y ou can download fonts from Android Market by selecting Get fonts online .
97 settings • Use visible pattern: Set the unlock pattern to be visible or invisible as you draw it. • Use tactile feedback: Set the phone to vibrate when you tap and draw the unlock pattern. • Set up/Change password: Create and confirm a new password for accessing credentials.
98 settings • Running services: Vi ew the services that are currently running on the phone and manage them. • Development: • USB debuggin g: Select to use debug mode when you connect your phone to a PC by using a PC data cable. This is used fo r application development.

101 settings • Auto-spacing: Set the phone to automatically insert a space between words. • Auto-capitalization: Set the phone to automatically capitalize the first letter after a final punctuation mark, such as a period, question mark, or exclamation mark.
