Getting Started 1 Section 1: Getting Sta r ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by charging your battery and setting up your voice mail. Understanding this User Manual The sections of this manual generally follow the featu res of your phone.

Getting Started 3 Setting Up Y our Phone R emo ving and R e placing the Batter y T o remove the battery: 1. If the phone is turned on, press and hold until the phone turns off. 2. Locate the releas e latch (1) and in a single mot ion, carefully lift the cover up and away from the phone (2).
4 T o replac e the battery: 1. Slide the battery into the phone with the gold co ntacts on the battery matching those in the phone (1). 2. Press the battery down until it clicks into place (2). 3. Reinstall the battery cover by placing it back onto th e phone (3 and 4) and pressing until you hear it securely click (5 ).

6 SIM Card Y our phone comes with a pre-installed SIM card. SIM Card Over view Important! Before removing or replacing the SIM card, make sure the phone is switched of f.
Getting Started 7 Installing and R emo ving the SIM card T o install the SIM card: 1. Carefully slide the SIM card into the SI M card socket u ntil the card clicks into place. 2. Make sure that the card’ s gold contacts face int o the device and that the angled corner of the card is positioned as shown.
8 Note: If the card is not inserted correctly , the device will not detect it and no service will be available. If this ha ppens, turn off the device, remove the card , and reinstall the card in the correct orientation. Charging the Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li-ion batt ery .
Getting Started 9 Note: This illustration shows both the correct method and the incorrect method for connecti ng the charger . If you connect the charger incorrectly , you risk damaging the access ory port and voiding the phone warranty .

Understanding Y our Phone 13 Open View of Y our Phone The following diagram shows the main elements of your phone. 1. Earpiece: Allows you to hear conv ersations, ring tones and alerts. 2. Display : Allows you to vie w date and time, network type, sign al strength, battery power , and icons associated with alerts or alarms.
14 4. Left soft key : In the Idle screen, press the Menu (left) soft key ( ) to access your Main menu . The left soft key allows you to select the f unction indicated by the screen t ext on the bottom left of the display . 5. Send key : Allows you to place or receive a call.
Understanding Y our Phone 15 Main Display Layout The display has 3 areas: Icons Shows the received signal streng th. The greater number of bars indica tes a s tronger signal. Appears when you are connected to an ED GE network. Appears when you are co mmunicating wit h the network using an EDGE connecti on.
16 Note: The default Sound Profile is Normal . The profile is editable, and the displaye d icons may vary a ccording to the s ettings. T o edit Sound Profile settings, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Personali ze ➔ Sound profiles . Appears when you are communicating with the network using a 3G connect ion.
Understanding Y our Phone 17 Bac klight A backlight illuminate s the display and the keypad when you press any key . The backlight dims or turns of f when no key is pressed within a given period of time. Go to the Backlight Ti me menu to modify these settings.
18 Selecting Options T o view the various funct ions and options available and to select the one you want: • Press the appropriate soft key . • T o select the function display ed or the option highlighted, press the Select soft key or the key .
Understanding Y our Phone 19 Right Soft K ey Some functions of the right soft ke y are as follows. • From the Idle screen, press ( Browser ) soft key to launch the Browser . • When in a menu mode, the right soft key function is Back. End K ey The End key is u sed to turn on/off your phone, disconnect calls, and return to the standby mode.
20 Na viga tion K ey Use the directional keys on the Navi gat ion key to browse menus, sub menus, and lists. Press t he Up or Down Navigation keys when jumping to highlighted links on the web. In a call, press Do wn Navigation key to la unch Contac ts.
Call Functions 21 Section 3: Call Fu nctions This section describe s how to make or answer a call. It also includes the features and fu nctionality associated with making or answerin g a call. Making a Call From the Idl e screen , enter the area code and phone number , and press the key .
22 Manual P ause Dialing When you call automated systems, you are often required to enter a password or acc ount number . Instead of manually entering the numbers each time, you can dial the numbers along with special characters called pauses. T o manually call a num ber with pause(s) without storing it in your Contacts: 1.
Call Functions 23 Tip : Y ou can quickly access your Recent Calls from th e Idle Screen by pressing . 2. Press to dial the number of your most recent call. Making a Call from your Contact List Y ou can store phone numbers that you use regularly on the SIM card or in the phone memory .
24 T o set your phone to answer when you press any key: When you activate th e An y Key answer option, you can press any key to answer a call except and the Reject soft key . Press Menu ➔ Sett ings ➔ Call settings ➔ An swering mode ➔ Any Key .
Call Functions 25 •C a l l : allows you to call the number you are viewing. • Send message : allows you to send a text message or a multimedia message. • Save to contacts : allows you to save a new con tact or update an existing contact . • Delete : allows you to delete either the Selected or All call records.
26 Viewing the Details of a Missed Call T o view the details of a selected misse d call: 1. Press the View soft key . A list of recently miss ed calls is displayed. 2. Scroll to the desired missed call and press the key . Calling Ba ck a Missed Ca ll T o call back a missed call numbe r: 1.
Call Functions 27 5. Select a destination for the ent ry by choosing either Phone or SIM and follow prompts to add caller to Contacts. Sending a Message to a Missed Call T o send a text message or attachment to a m issed call entry: 1. Immediately after missing a call, press the V iew soft key .
28 Deleting a Missed Call T o delete a missed call entry: 1. Immediately after missing a call, press the View s oft key . – or – From the Idle sc reen, press ( Menu ) ➔ Call hist ory ➔ Missed calls . 2. Press ( Options ) ➔ Delet e . Choose from either Selected missed call or All misse d calls.
Call Functions 29 2. Y ou can later reactivate this call whenever you want by pressing ( Resume ). Making a new call w hile y ou hav e a call in pro gress 1. While on a call, press ( Options ) ➔ Hold ➔ OK . 2. Enter the new phone number y ou wish to dial and press to dial the second number .
30 Ending a specific call 1. While you have the act ive call displayed, press ( Options ) ➔ End . 2. Select the desired call you wish to end. Choose from either: • Active Call : to end the currently active call. •H e l d C a l l : to end the currently held call (shown as grey in the top background).
Call Functions 31 • Browser : Opens the brow ser. • Mute keys : Silence key tones. •S e n d D T M F : Sends DTMF (Dual T one Multi-Frequency) tones to th e contacts you have s elected. These DTMF tones are sent as a group. The DTMF tones are the to nes used in phones for tone dialing, sounding when you press the numbe r keys.
32 Switching off the Microphone (Mute) During a call, you can temporaril y s witch your phone microphone of f so that the other perso n cannot hear you. Press to mute the microphone and kee p callers from hearing you. – or – Press to re-activate the mi crophone and allow callers to hear you.
Call Functions 33 Call W aiting The Call Wa iting feature alerts you of an incoming call while you have a call in progress, if this service is supported by the network. T o activate the Call waiting fe ature: 1. From the Idle screen, p ress Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Call settings Call waiting .
34 3-W ay Calling (Multi-P ar ty Calling) The 3-W ay or Multi-Party feature allows you to answer a series of incoming calls and place them on hold. If this service is supported by the netwo rk, and the SIM has the feature enabled, all calls c an be joined together .
Call Functions 35 Vibr ation Mod e Vibration mod e is convenient when you wish to stop the p hone from making sounds, in a theat er, fo r example. In Idle mode, press and hold until the phone vibrates and the “Vibration prof ile on” message appears on screen.
36 Section 4: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu navigation for your phone. Y our menu options are controlled by the SI M provided by your service provider . Use the Navigat ion keys to scroll throug h menus and sub-menus or use the shortc ut keys.
Menu Navigation 37 Using Shor tcuts Numbered menu items and optio ns can be accessed by using their shortcut numbers . In Menu mode, Main Menus can be accessed by pressing the number k eys (1 to 9) corresponding to t heir location on the screen. Exampl e: Accessing the Bookmarks menu.

Understanding Y our Contacts 41 Speed dial Y ou can assign a n umber to one of eight speed dial locations (2-9). The first speed dial number is reserved for voicemail. 1. From the Idle screen, press ( Menu ) ➔ Contacts ➔ Speed dial. Select an empty position in your speed dial list.
42 Contacts Settings Y ou can choose to View cont acts stored on your Phone only , on your SIM Card only , or both. Y ou can save, copy and dele te Phone and SIM Card entries on your phone or choos e to delete all.

44 Section 6: Messaging This section expla ins how to create, send, receive, and view dif ferent types of messages. This section also describes the features and functionality associat ed with messaging. Creating a New T ext Message 1. From the Idle sc reen , press ( Menu ) ➔ Messaging ➔ Create message to ac cess the SMS message window .
Messaging 45 • Add attachment : allows you to attach seve ral types of information into the current mess age: File, Name Card, Appointment, Annivers ary , Priv ate, Holiday , Important, T asks, Memo, or Bookmarks information. •M o r e : – Add page: change the mess age to picture message and add a new page.
46 Creating a New Picture Message 1. From the Idle sc reen , press ( Menu ) ➔ Messaging ➔ Create message . The N ew message screen displays. 2. Enter the number for the recipie nt in the field provided, or press ( Options ) to Add rec ipients from Recent recipients , Contacts or Groups .
Messaging 47 Creating a Picture Messa ge from the Camera Mode 1. From the Idle sc reen , press ( Camera ) from the side of the phone. 2. Press the Camera key or to take a photo. 3. Press ( Send to ). The Send s creen appears in the display showing the Recipient List and t he T o field highlighted.
48 • Reply : allows you to compo se and send a reply to the message. • Call sender : allows you to call the phone number associ ated with the currently highlight ed message.
Messaging 49 Navig ating through your Messa ge Categories The default message cate gory screen is the Message inbox. Press the Left or Right Nav igation keys to access t he other available screens: Sentbox, Draft s, My folders and T emplates. Message inbo x The Inbox mess age box stores copies of messages you received.

Highlight a template and press ( Send ) to create and send a new T ext Message or Picture Message using the selected template or p ress ( Options ) to access t he following options: • Create : allows you to create a new template message. •E d i t : allows you to change the currently selected template.
Messaging 51 • Push message : allows you to access Receiving options a nd Service loading. 3. Press ( Select ) or to access the highlighted settings menus.
52 • Auto resize image : allows you to set aut o resize options for MMS (Multimedia messages). Choose from No Resize, 100 KB, 300 KB and 600 KB image size.
Messaging 53 • Picture message : displays the memory space used by messages stored at these locat ions: Message inbox, Sentbox, Drafts and My folde rs. • T ext message : displays the number of messages stored in these locations: Phone, SIM, Message inbox, Sentbox , Drafts and My folders.
54 Section 7: Camera This section explains how to use the camera on your phone. Y ou can take photographs by using the built-in camera functionality . Using the Camera Using the camera module in your phone, you can take photos of people or events while on the move.
Camera 55 2. The following on-screen options app ear: •M e n u : allows you to adjust camera settings. For more information, refer to “Setting Camera Options” on page 56. • T ake Photo ( ): allows you to take a photo. •P h o t o s : allows you to view your stored photos .
56 • Properties : allows you to view Basic details (Name, Format, Resolution, Size, Forwarding, D ate Created and Location) and Media information (Name, Model, Date). Setting Camera Options The Camera Options let you adjust def ault camera settings to suit the current conditions and subject of your photo.
Camera 57 • White Balance : allo ws you to adjust pi cture quality according to available light conditions. Choose from: Auto , Daylight , Incandescent , Fluorescent , or Cloudy . • Meter : allows you to adjust the exposure mete r for your camera.
58 Viewing Photos 1. From the Idle sc reen, press ( Menu ) ➔ My Downlo ads ➔ Photos . 2. From the Photos screen (disp lays a list of pictures), highlight an image and press to enlarge the thumbnail view o f the selected photo or ( Options ) to see the following options: •S e n d t o : send the photo to one or more recipients.
Camera 59 •S o r t b y : allows you to so rt the list of available image by Date, T ype, Name or Size. • Bluetooth visibility : allows you to alter the visibilit y state of the Bluetooth connecti on. • Print via Bluetooth : allows you to print th e picture using Bluetooth.
60 5. Press to begin shooting your video. Press to pause the recording or ( Stop ) to stop recording. Y our new video is saved to the My Downloads ➔ Videos folder .
Browser 61 Section 8: Browser This section outline s how to launch your Browser , how to navigate to other pages on the Web, and how the keys on the keypad are used with the Web applica tion. Y ou can surf the Web and download ring tones and wallpapers using your phone.
62 • Bookmarks : allows you to launch a book marked Web page address. • Saved pages : allows you to open a previously saved W eb page. •H i s t o r y : allows you to view a history of recently visited W eb sites.
Browser 63 • Number 1 thru 9 — Use the number keys to select items in a menu if they are numbere d. • End Key ( ) — Press to exit the Web and return the phone to standby mode . • Left Soft Key ( ) — Press t o activate the comm and that app ears above it in th e display , such as Options .
64 Section 9: Applications Organizer Organizer is a suite of applications that ru n on your phone. Y ou can use your phone to schedule event s, set reminders, perform calculations, and more.
Applications 65 •T i m e r : Allows you to set a timer . • Stopwatch : Allows you to v iew the amount of time in up to 30 intervals. • RSS reader : allows you to read RSS (Rich Site Summary) feeds.
66 • Create : Allows you to choose the category for your new event. Choose from: Appointmen t, Anniversary , Holiday , Important, or Private. •G o t o : Allows you to view the current day’ s calendar or to jump to another d ate that you specify .
Applications 67 4. Enter your information in the fields provided in your phone display . 5. Press ( Save ) to store the new event. View an Event 1. T o access your Calendar in Idle mod e, press ( Menu ) ➔ Organizer ➔ Calendar . 2. Use the Navigat ion keys to move through the calendar and highlight a desired date.

Applications 69 • Send Message <Name o r #> : displays the Create T ext Message screen. • Lookup <Name> : allows you use a voice command to loc ate and display contact information store d in the Contacts list.
70 • There is no need to use paused speech. The voice recognition software has been trained to recognize natural spe ech, and performs best wh en you speak naturally . • In very noise en vironments, it ma y be helpful to use a headset or a Bluetooth headset.

80 • Change PIN code : Allows you to change your current PIN, provided the PIN che ck feature is enabled. Y ou must enter the current PIN before you can spe cify a new one.

82 Time and date This menu allows you to chan ge the format and settings for the time and date display . 1. From the Idle sc reen , press ( Menu ) ➔ Settings ➔ Personalize ➔ T ime and Date .
Changing Y our Settings 83 5. Highlight the Date field and ent er the date in the following format: MM/DD/YYYY . Use the left and right navigation keys to move between se ttings. 6. Select the Time Format field a nd press the Left or Right Navigation key to select the 12hr or 24hr format .
84 2. If the first item in the Bluetooth menu is T urn Bluetooth on , highlight the option and press the Select soft key or the key . The Bluetooth turned on confirmation prompt displays then the phone automatically searches for availa ble devices.
Changing Y our Settings 85 5. If you are unable to pair with the dev ice a popup displays on the screen. Press the Ye s so ft key to retry. My Visibility The My visibility option allow s your phone to wirelessly transmit its phone name and status to every device wit hin its range.
86 Note: The def ault input entry method is Abc, where the initial chara cter is Uppercase and each consecutiv e character in that same word is left as lo wercase text. 3. Press when you are finished. Security Mode Security mode h elps protect your device from un authorized data transmis sion.

From the Idle sc reen , press ( Menu ) ➔ Settings ➔ Call settings . 2. Choose from the available options : • Answering mode : allows you to assign how your phon e answers calls.
88 – If out of reach activates an automatic forward of all incoming calls on ly when you can not be reached and your phone status is set to unreach able. – Cancel all cancels all call fo rwardi ng functi ons. • Ca ll barring: allows you to restrict s pecific types of incoming and outgoing calls on your phone.
Changing Y our Settings 89 • Alerts on call : allows you to enable or disable message alert sounds during a call. • Auto Reply : allows you t o automatically send a te xt message to a missed call number. Set to On and enter the reply tha t you want to send.
90 2. T o create a new connection, press ( New ) or press Options , select Create , and press ( Select ) or the key . T o edit an existing connection, press Options , select Edit , and press ( Select ) or the key . 3. Enter or edit the fo llowing parame ters as required.
Changing Y our Settings 91 • Linger Time (sec.) : set a t ime period (in seconds) after w hich the network is disconnect ed if there is no new data traffic. • Advanced : allows you to configure some IP-specific information: Static IP , Static DNS, Server informat ion, and Tr affic Class.
92 Wa rning! When performing the Reset se ttings or Master reset operations, do not remo ve your battery until the phone completes the task and restarts, otherwis e phone damage may occur . R eset settings T o reset phone settings while retaining yo ur data: 1.

Once your phone ha s been reset to its default settings, it will restart itself in order to incorporate the new settings. W arning! All User Data such as contacts, mess ages, pictures, videos, and music is deleted.
