11 Your Phone 10 Your Phone Display Display Layout The display comprises of three areas. Area Description First line Displays various icons (see below). Middle lines Display messages, instructions and any information that you enter (number to be dialled, for example).
13 Your Phone 12 Your Phone Backlight The display and keypad are illuminated by a backlight. When you press any key, the backlight illuminates. It turns off if no key is pressed within a given period of time, depending on the Backlight option set in the Phone Settings menu.
14 Your Phone 15 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card and the Battery • Keep all miniature SIM cards out of the reach of small children. • The SIM card and its contacts can easily be damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting or removing the card.

29 Call Functions 28 Call Functions In-Call Options Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. To access these functions during a call, press the Options soft key. Switching the Microphone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’s microphone off, so that the other party cannot hear you.
31 Call Functions 30 Call Functions Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the cur r ent call on hold whenever you want. You can make another call while you have a call in progress if this service is supported by the network. Of these two calls, one is active and the other is on hold and you can swap between the calls.

47 Entering Text 46 Entering Text The cursor moves to the right when you press a different key. When entering the same letter twice (or a different letter on the same key), just wait for a few seconds for the cursor to move right automatically , and enter the next letter .

These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed via the two soft keys ( and ). Each menu and sub- menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.

55 Call Records V ia this menu, you can view the phone calls: • Missed • Received • Dialled The number and name (if available) are displayed together with the date and time at which the call was made. You can also view call times and costs. Missed Calls Menu 1-1 Lets you view the last 10 unanswered calls.

Discard: allows you to discard the picture message without saving it. Cut Number: allows you to extract a number from the picture message, so that you can call the number or save it in the phonebook.

The screen displays the: • Memo location • Date and time when the memo was recorded • Recording time counter The maximum recording time is about 35 seconds. If you want to record for longer, press the Continue soft key .
73 T o n e s 72 Melody Composer Menu 4-2 This menu allows you to compose your own, customised ringing tone. • Three octaves are available. • A maximum of 100 notes can be entered. • Adjustable length of note and note rest. T o Compose Melody Y ou can compose two melodies.
