Getting Started 3 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes the first st eps to operating y our phone. SIM Card Information When you subscribe to cellular network services, yo u receive a plug-in Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card l o aded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, and av ailable op tional ser vices .
4 2. Lift the battery up (1) and away from the phone (2). Installing and R emo ving the SIM Card Important!: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the SIM, and keep all SIM cards out of reach of children.
Getting Started 5 3. T o remove the SI M, slide it gently o ut of the socket. Note: The angled corner of the SIM should be inserted as shown in the diagram on the phone. The correct SIM orientation is necessary for your phone to recognize the SIM. Replaci ng the Batter y 1.
6 3. With the battery in position in the phone, align the back cover on the pho ne (1) and slide gently upward (2) unt il t he cover c licks into pla ce. Note: The battery must be properly installed before charging the ba ttery or switching on the phone.
Getting Started 7 1. Plug the connector of the wal l charger jack into the port on the si de of the phone. Note: This illustration shows both the correct method and the incorrect method for connec ting the charger . If you connect the charger incorrectly, you risk damaging the accessory port and voiding the phone warranty .
8 Note: Do not turn on the phone when mobile phone use is prohibited. 2. If the phone asks, en ter a password and press the OK sof t key or the key . (For further details, see “Change password” on page 44.) The Idle screen d isplays while the p hone searches f or your network.

It also displays the screen and the icons that are d isplayed when the phone is in use. F eatures of Y our Phone Y our phone is lightwe ight, easy-to-use and offers ma ny significant features.
10 Ke y s The following l ist correlates to the fr ont view illustrations. 1. Earpiece : Used to listen to audio. 2. Left soft key : In the Idle screen, press the Menu (left) soft key to access your Main menu . The left soft ke y allows you to select th e function indicated by the screen text on the bo ttom left of the display .
Understanding Y our Phone 11 10. Right Soft key : In the Idle sc reen, press the Contacts (right) soft key to open your Contact list . When in menu mode, the ri ght soft key function is Back . 11. Display : Allows you to see when you have an incoming call or message.
12 Icons Note: The default Profile is Normal. The profile is editable, and the displayed icons may vary according to the settings. T o edit Profile settings, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Profiles . Shows the received signal st rength. The greater nu mber of bars indicates a stronger signal.
Understanding Y our Phone 13 Appears when the No rmal Profile (default) is active. Press and hold the Space key to toggle between Normal mode and Silent mode.
14 Back light A backlight illuminates the di splay and the keypad when you press any key . It turns off when no keys are pressed within a gi ve n period of time, and/ or dims the light, depending on the settings in the Settings ➔ Display ➔ Light menu.
Understanding Y our Phone 15 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions th at can be customized for your use. These functions are arranged in menus and sub- menu s, accessed using the two soft keys. Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.
16 Left Sof t Key Some functions of the left sof t key are as follow s. • In the Idle screen, press the Menu (left) soft key to open the Menu screen. • When in a menu mode, the left soft k ey function is Select . Right Soft Key Some function s of the right so ft key are as fo llows.
Understanding Y our Phone 17 Na vigation K ey Use the directional keys on the Navigation key to browse menus, sub menus, and lists. Press the Up or Down Navigation keys when jumpi ng to highlighted links on the web.
18 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a call. It also inc ludes the fe atures and functionality asso ciated with making or ans wering a call. Making a Call In Idle mode, enter the area code a nd phone number , and press the key.
Call Functions 19 Manu al Pau se Dialing When you ca ll automated s y stems, you are often require d to enter a p assword or account num ber . Instead of manually ente r ing the numbers each time, you can dial the numbers along with special characters called pauses.
20 Once you have stored a number in the Contact list , you can dial it by pressing a few keys by storing the co ntact in your F a vorites. For further details about the Contact list feature, see “Findin g an Contacts list Entry” on page 38.
Call Functions 21 Viewing All Calls Fro m t he Call rec ords menu, select the Recent calls option. All calls made, receive d, and missed are listed. Press the Options soft key in an y of these lists for the following options: • Vi ew : allows you to view the ca ll details.
22 Viewing the Details of a Missed Calls T o view the detail s of a selected missed call, use th e following steps: 1. Press the Vie w soft key . A li st of the most re cently missed call s is displayed. 2. Select the desired missed call. 3. Press the Options soft key , then select Vi ew .
Call Functions 23 Sendin g a Messa ge to a Missed C all T o send a text message or atta chment to a missed call entry: 1. Immediately afte r missing a ca ll, press the View soft key . A list of missed calls is displayed with the most recently missed call highlighted.
24 Call Time 1. From the Idle screen, p ress the Menu ➔ Call records ➔ Call manager ➔ Call duration to see the following options: •L a s t c a l l : shows the length of time for the last call. • Dialed calls : shows the total length of t ime for dial ed calls.
Call Functions 25 Making a new cal l wh ile you have a call i n pr ogr ess 1. While on a call, press the Hold soft key . 2. Enter the new phone number y ou wish to dial or look it up i n the Contact list. 3. Press to dial th e secon d number . - or - 4.
26 Note: Y ou must contact your Service Provider regarding the a vailability of the Join option and the T ransfer option. When you want to finish, end each call normally by pressing the key . Ending a spec ific call 1. Place the cal l you wish to end on hold.
Call Functions 27 • Message: allows you to create a message or to access mess ages in these folders: Inbox, Sentbox, Outbox and Drafts. • End cal l: allows you to end the active ca ll. Using the Speak er phone During an Ac tive C all While in an active call , it is possibl e to enable t he speakerp hone feature.

Call W aiting The Call Waiting feature alerts yo u of an incoming call while you ha ve a call in progress, if this service is supported by the network.
Call Functions 29 1. Press to answer the first incoming call. 2. Press to answer the next incoming ca ll. The first call is automatically put on hold. 3. Join the first two callers by pressing the Options soft key , then selecting Join . Join combines your c urrent set of callers into a single mul ti-party call, both active and on hold.
30 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains the menu navigation for your phone. It also includes an overview of al l the available menus associa ted with your phone. Some menu options are controlled by the SIM provide d by your service prov ider .
Menu Navigation 31 Using Shortcuts Numbered menu items, such as menus, sub-menus, and options can be quickly accessed by using their shortcut numbe rs. In Menu mode, Main Menus can be accessed by pressing t he number keys (1 to 9) corres ponding to their location on the screen.
32 Section 5: Messaging This section describe s how to send or receive text messages. It also inc ludes the features and functi onality associated with messaging. Creating and Sending New Messages 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Messages ➔ Create Message .
Messaging 33 4. When you have finished composing your message, press Options ➔ Send to send the message to th e selected recipients. Viewing New Receiv ed Messa ges 1. In Idle mode, new messages ar e indicated by ic ons and a New Messages pop- up . The following ic ons indicate the message type.
34 䊳 While viewing the list of messa ges in th e Inbox, you can highlight a message and press the Options soft key to access the fo llowing message options: •V i e w : allows yo u to view your mess age. •R e p l y : allows you to com pose and se nd a reply to the m essage.
Messaging 35 Inbo x The Inbox message box stores co pies of messages you received. Sentbo x The Sentbox message box stores copies of messages you sent. Outbo x The Outbox message box stores copies of outgoing messages, both those sent successfully and those that failed.
36 Deleting Messages When your phone’ s me mory is full, an error message displa ys and you can not receive any new me ssages. Use the Delete option erase o bsole te messages, freeing memory for new messages. Y ou can delete the messages in each messa ge fo lder(s) individual ly or all at one time.

38 Section 6: Understanding Y our Contact List This section allows you to manage your Contacts by storing their names and numbers in your Contact list.

40 F av orites L ist Y ou can assign up to 8-Favorites entries an d then dial them easily whenev er you want, simply by pre ssing and holding the as sociated numeric key . Y ou can set up Favorites entries by going to Menu ➔ Contacts ➔ Favorites and selecting an Empty position in your F a vori tes list.
Changing Y our Settings 41 Section 7: Changing Y our Settings This section includes tips on how to use some of use s ome of your phone features, as well as h ow to change and customize t h e display settin gs, call handling, security settings, and other settings a ssociated with your phone.
42 3. Press the Options soft key to Save or Edi t the highlighted profile. 4. T o Edit your setting, press the Change soft key to make a new selection. 5. Press the Save soft key when you are finished. Display In this menu, you can change various setti ngs for the display: Wa llpaper , My theme, Power saving mode or Light.
Changing Y our Settings 43 Note: When the Keypad auto-lock feature is on, your phone automatically locks your keypad when the phone has been idle for a while. T o unlock your phone, press the Unlock soft key , then press OK. The following optio ns are available.
44 Note: This lock code is typically the last four digits of the current phone number or it can be obtained from an A T&T customer ser vice representative. • PIN lock : when enabled, you must en ter your PIN each time you switch on the phone. Consequently , any person who does not have your PIN cannot use your phone without your approval.
Changing Y our Settings 45 Applications The Applications menu allows you to choo se how your phone dials and receives calls in these settings menus: Message and Contacts. • Message : allows you to set up options for T ext messages, Broadcast messages and to connect to your V oice mail number .
46 Master reset The Master reset menu allows y ou to reset the only the settings you designate or to reset all the sett ings. 䊳 In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key and select Settings ➔ Master reset to choose from the menu options.
