In this condition, y our phone conserves its re maining battery power , not by turning off the backlight, but by en tering th e dimming mode.

WI-FI 18 Using Wi-Fi If you are not sure what your key or passphrase (WEP or WP A encr yption) is, please refer to your router documentation. (F or T -Mobile routers see "Get Security Key" on page 2 5 .
19 The signal bars are always visible when a c a ll is active. The ba rs change correctly when you are on a call to indicate what netwo rk you are on. The name of your network displays on the idle screen as seen h ere. Connecting to W i-Fi Networks Connecting to Wi-F i networks with your phone is what allows you to make calls using Wi-Fi.
WI-FI 20 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks 3. Highlight the Wi-Fi option and press the Select soft key . 4. Highlight the Available Networks option and pres s the Select soft key . 5. The phone searc hes for all available networks and th en displays a li st of available netw orks.
21 After the network saves to your Saved Networks list, you automatically connect to that network e ach ti me you are within range (see "Saved Networks" on page 22 for additional information).
WI-FI 22 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks • Refresh : Refreshes the list of available networks to include any rece nt changes, for example new Wi-F i networks recently se t up or others that were removed from service. • View Details : Displays the details for the current ly highlighted Wi-F i network.
23 Sav ed Networks Options In the Saved Netw orks menu, press t he Options soft key to use the follo wing options: • Edit Details : Allows you to edit the highlighted Wi-Fi netw ork's parameters. Note that this option is not available for y our T -Mobile -designated Wi-F i network profiles.
WI-FI 24 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks Quick Connect Select the Quick Connect option from the Wi-Fi menu to scan for any avai lable preferred or open Wi-Fi network and connect to the network with the best signal strength.
25 T ur n Wi-Fi On/Off Select the T urn Wi-Fi ON/OFF option from the Wi-Fi menu to acti vate/deact ivate the Wi-Fi feature. Y our phone's de fault state is Wi-Fi On (Act ive Mode). Wi-Fi should be left on to ta ke advantage of the seamless t ransfer betwee n regular cellula r networks.
WI-FI 26 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks For T -Mobile routers without encryption en able d, following this sequence turns on WP A and sends the security key to your T -Mobile phone. If encryption is enabled, the light is constantly lit on the T -Mobile router , and the curre nt router settings are sent to the phon e.
27 Y ou can also ente r a security key manuall y in the phone. If connec ting via available networks, the phone prompts you to enter the k ey for WEP or passphrase for W P A. Y ou can also follow the st eps for manually adding a network seen in a subs equent section of the manual.

31 W010 Wi-Fi Connection Fail ed The wireless network is no longer in range, or it has a weak signal. 1. The wireless ne two rk is not in range or has a weak signal to provide a s uccessful connection.
WI-FI 32 T roubleshooting W002 Wi-Fi Connection Fail ed The phone was unable to ge t an IP address from the DHCP server i n order to establish a connection. 1. If WEP encryption is in use, check that the ke y configured on the router matches the key e n t e r e d o n t h e p h o n e .
33 W003 Wi-Fi Connection Fail ed The phone detected an IP Address conflict. 1. Another devi ce on the WLAN network (lapto p, desktop or phone) has the same IP address as the phone displaying the error , make sure that no other device is set for static IP addresses.

Call Functions 48 Making a Call 3. T o clear the whole display , press and hold the key . Ending a C all 䊳 When you want to finish your call, briefly press the key . Redialing the Last Number The phone stores the numbers of the calls you’ve dialed, received, or missed if the caller is identifi ed.
49 Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, use the Volume ke ys on the left side of the phone, to a djust the speaker volume. 䊳 Press the key to incre ase the volume level and the key to de crease the level. In Idle mode, you ca n also adjust the ring volume using th ese keys.
Call Functions 50 Call Records The following Ca ll Record options are a vailable: All calls This menu lets you view th e 90 most recent calls you received, dialed, and missed. The name or number , if already stored in your Phonebook, displays with the nu mber of occurrences for each number .
51 Incoming call s This menu lets you view the 30 most recent calls you received. The name and numbe r , if already stored in your Phonebook, i s then displayed with the number of occurrences for each number . Outgoi ng calls This menu lets you view the 30 mo st recent calls you dialed.
Call Functions 52 Silent Mode Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone from making any noise, (in a theater for exampl e). In Idle mode, pres s and hold the key until th e “Silent Mo de On” message and the Silent Mode icon ( ) display .

Call Functions 54 Selecting Functions and Options Putting a Call on Hol d Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want . If your netowrk supports this ser vice, you can also make ano ther call while a call is in progre ss. T o place a call on hold: 1.
55 Muting or Sending Key T ones These options allo w you to turn the key tones o ff or on. If the Keypad tone option is Off, your phone does not tran smit the DTMF (Dua l T one Mult i-Frequency) tones of the keys, which then allows you to press ke ys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.

Messages 74 T ext Messages T ext Messages Short Messag e Servic e (SMS) allows yo u to send and receive short text messages to and from other mobile phones. In addi tion, your phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Ser vice (EMS), which e nables yo u to include simple graphics, melodies, and animated images in your messages.
75 • Attach : allows you to attach a Name card, Schedule, Anniversary item, Miscellaneous item, or T asks to your message. • Save to Drafts : save the message to your Phone or SIM card. • Select language : allows you to set the language to English, Français, and Español.
Messages 76 Picture Messages A Picture Messaging message is a multim edia presentation conta ined in a single file. It is not a text fi le with attachments. Y ou must first retrieve a picture messag e from T -Mobile’s network before you can view the message.

Messages 82 Inbox •S a v e m e d i a : allows you to save message medi a to your Image folder , Sound folder , vCard, or vCalendar . •L o c k : allows you to protect the message deletion.

Messages 84 Outbox Outbox This message box stores unsent messages. When you ente r this menu, the li st of messages in the Ou tbox displays with t he recipients’ phone numbers or names, if availabl e in your Phonebook. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.
