7 G et started First steps to ope rating y our phone SIM card info rmation When you subscribe to a cellular network, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with y our subscripti on de tails, such as your PIN, and available optional services.
8 G et starte d Low battery indicator When the battery is low: • a warning tone sounds, • the battery low message displa ys, and • the empty battery icon blinks. If the battery le vel becomes t oo low , the phone automatically turns off . R echarge your batt ery .

19 En t e r t e x t ABC, T9, Number, and Symbol modes Y ou can enter text for some features such as Messages, Contacts, or Calendar , using ABC mode, T9 mode, Numbe r m ode, and Symbo l mode. Changing the text input mode • Press the right soft key and select the input mode you want.
20 Ent e r t e x t • Press [ ] to inse rt a space. • Press [ ] to change case. L ower case (No indicator), Init ial capital ( ), and Capital lock ( ) are available. • Press the Navigat ion keys to move the curs or . •P r e s s [ C ] to delete char acters one by one.

22 Call fun ctions Redialli ng recent numbers 1. In Idle mode, p res s [ ] to display the list of recent numbers. 2. Scroll to the number y ou want and press [ ]. Making a call fr om Co ntac ts Once you have stored a number in Contacts, you can dial the number by selecting it from Contacts.
Call function s 23 Viewing missed calls If you have m issed calls, t he screen displays how many calls y ou have misse d. 1. Pres s < Missed >. 2. If necessary , scroll t hrough the missed calls. 3. Press [ ] to dial t he number you want. Using the headset Use the headset t o make or answ er calls without holdin g the p hone.
24 Call fun ctions Answering a second call Y ou can answer an incoming call while already on the phone, if your network supports it and you have activ a ted th e call wa i ting feat ure. p. 55 1. Pres s [ ] to answer the ca ll. The f irst call is automa tically put on hold.
25 • Message : read an incoming message or send a new message. • Mute keys / Send keys : switch the key tones on or off . • Send DTMF : send the DTMF (Dual tone multi- frequency) tones as a group. The DTMF tones are the tones used in phones for tone dial ling, sounding when you press the number k eys.

Me n u f un c t i on s Multimedia (Menu 2) 27 Call costs (Menu 1.6) This network feature displays the cost of calls. Thi s menu is av ailable only if your SIM card supports this feature. N ote that t his is no t intended to be used fo r billing purposes.

From a sound screen, sele ct t-music . 2. Search fo r a sound clip and follow the onscreen instructions to download it.

Internet (Menu 9.6) Use this menu to connect y our phone to the Internet services. Y ou can also set up connection profi les for connecting your phone to the network and launching the web browser .

Me n u f un c t i on s Settings (Menu 9) 55 Call barring (Menu 9 .9.2) This network service allows you to restrict your ca lls. 1. Select a call barring opti on: • All outgoing : prohibit all outgoing calls. • International : prohibit international cal ls.
56 Band selection (Menu 9.9.6) Fo r the phone to mak e and receive p hone calls, it must register with an available network. Y our phone can handle any of Combined GSM 900/1800 and GSM 1900, and support automatic switching between three bands. The country where you purchased your phone determines the default band that it uses.
57 Solve prob lems “Enter PUK” • The P IN co de has been ente red incorre ctly three times in su ccession, and the SIM c ard is now blocked. Enter the PUK sup plied by your service provider . “No service,” “Network failure,” or “ Not done” displays • The network connection has been lost.
