8 Installing the SIM Card Important! The plug-in SIM ca rd and its contac ts can be easil y dama ged by sc ratch es or bendin g. Use caution when i nserting or remov ing the car d and keep a ll SIM cards out of reach from children . Make sure the gold co ntacts of the card face into the phone, then slide the SIM card into the soc ket.
Section 1: Getting Started 9 Removing the SIM Card T o remove the SIM card, sl ide it away fro m the cros s-bar . See the following illustrati on. Installing the Battery 1. Align the batter y so that the 3 brass tabs on the end align with the 3 br ass prongs at the bo ttom of the ba tter y compartment.
10 3. Place the ba tter y cover on and slide it in to place unt il it clicks. Make sure that the battery is properly i nstalled be fore switching on the phone. Chargi ng a Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li -ion batter y . Use the tra vel adap ter to charge the battery , and use only Sam sung approved batteries and chargers.

Note: For connection to an electrical supp ly not loca ted in the U.S., you must use an ad aptor of t he pro per configura tion for the power outlet.

Section 3: Cal l Functions 23 Ending a Call When you want to finish your call, briefly press the key . Redialing the Last Number All inco ming, out going and missed calls are listed in the Recent C alls Menu. If the number or call er is listed in your Addr ess Book, th e name a ssociated displays.

Section 7: Messaging 51 Mobile Email Opti ons The follow ing are the options a vailable for the Mo bile Email menu. Press Options to select from the following options. • Select : allows you to access the sign-in screen for the highlighted email client.
52 Creatin g and Sendi ng New Messages T ext Messages Short Messa ge Ser vi ce (SMS) allo ws you to se nd and recei ve short text me ssages to and from other mobile phones. In addition, your phone supports the Enhan ced Messag ing Ser vice (EMS), whic h enables yo u to include simple pictures, melodies, and animated imag es in your messages.
Section 7: Messaging 53 • T ext Style : allows you to format the styl e of the text. For th e T ext Size attrib ute, selec t Normal, Large , Small. For the T ext Mode a ttribute, select Normal, Underline, or Stri kethrough . The options Bold and Italic are set by using the ke y to place a check mark by them.

56 • Save : allows you to save the text message you entered . • Insert : allows you to add a message text from the T emplates folder , an en try fr om the Address Book, or a URL address in the Favorites folder . • Save to : save the messa ge in the Drafts folder or a folder you have created in the My Folder option.

Note: Some networks do not allo w you to change this setting. The following o ptions ar e available: • Default : the default setting provided by the network is used.

Unlike infrared, you don't need to line up the devices to beam info rmation with Bluetooth.
