12 PREPARATION About This Guide This user guide provides i nstructions for the use of Samsung’s latest SMT-W6100 Wi -Fi phone. Please take the time to st udy this guide to beco me famil iar with the operation of your SMT- W6100 and the benefits this new phone can provi de.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 18 Icon (Display) Description Icon Features Shows the received signal stre ngth. The more th e number of bars, th e strong er the signal. Appears when a call is in pr ogress. Appears when you are out of a service area. When it displays, you cannot make or receiv e calls.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 20 Dimming Mode If you don’t press any key in a given period of time which you can set in th e Backlight menu option(Menu 6.2 .3), the backligh t turns to dim to save the power . P ress any key to awake the display from the Dimming Mode.

22 GETTING STARTED Before to Start Installation of SMT-W6100 charger After having decided where to install th e ch arger see the f ollowing inst ructions: • Put the adapter’s j ack into the round plug of the charger . • Put the adapter in a 100/220 V plug.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 24 Installing/Removing/Charging the B attery Your phone is powered by a rechargeabl e Li-ion battery. Use o nly approved batteries and chargers. Ask your local Samsung dealer for furth er details. Y ou must fully charge the battery before using your phone for the f irst time.
SMT-W6100 User Guide 25 Removing the Battery 1. Switch off the pho ne by pressing and holdi ng the key . 2. Press the button and the bat tery is separated and raised as shown in the f igure below.
SMT-W6100 User Guide 26 Low Battery Indicator When the battery is almost disc harged and only a few minutes of tal k time remain, the bat tery sensor informs you in the followi n g ways: an empty battery icon flashe s( ), you hear a warning tone and a message r epeats at re gular interv als on the display .
SMT-W6100 User Guide 27 Inserting/Removing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you ar e provided with a SIM(Su bscriber I d entification Module) card load ed with your subscrip tion deta ils, such as your PIN, any optional services available and so on.

Insert and slid e the SIM card und er the tab, ensuring th at the notc hed corner is top left and the gold con tac ts of the card face into the phone. SMT-W6100 User Guide 29 Access Codes There are several access cod es that are used by y our p hone and its SIM card. The s e codes help you protect the phone against una uthorized use. Fo r furth er details, see ‘Security(Menu 6.6)’ section of this g uide.
SMT-W6100 User Guide 30 PIN This is usable wh en SIM card is in sert ed in Wi-Fi phone. The PIN(Personal Identif ication Nu mber) protects your SIM ca rd agains t una uthorized use. When the PIN Check feature is enabled, you must enter the PIN each time you switch on the phone.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 36 Entering Text At many times while you are using your phone , yo u need to enter text , such as when storing a name in the Phonebook , writing a new me ssag e, crea ting your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 48 Using the Call Logs The phone stores up t o 20 calls dial ed, received o r missed chronologic ally . The last call is saved i n the f irst position. I f the sam e num ber occurs more than once, only th e late st occurrence is saved .
SMT-W6100 User Guide 49 Viewing Missed Calls If you hav e a subscription that includes the Caller Line Identif ication(CLI) feature and y ou are unable to answe r a call for any reason, you ca n f i nd out who was cal ling you so tha t you can call the pe rs o n bac k.
SMT-W6100 User Guide 50 Speed-dialing from Phonebook Once you have stored numbers in the Phonebook, you can dial a number simply by pressing one or two keys. For fu rther details, see ‘Speed List (Phonebook 1.3)’ section of this guide. Ending a Call When you want to finish your cal l, briefly pres s the key.

Adjusting the Volume During a call, if you wish t o adjust the earpiece vo lu me, use the volume keys on the left sid e of the pho ne. When yo u hear ring to ne, you can also mute it by long press of vo lume keys.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 55 Using the Speaker phone When you want to activate sp eake r phone, you should p ress Speaker phone key for 3~4 second s. Using the Ear-microphone With the ear-microphone, yo u ca n make or answer a call without holding t he phone .
56 MENUS The phone offers a range of functions that a llo w you to tailor the ph one to your needs. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus . Accessing a Menu Function The menus and sub-menus can be access ed by pressing the Menu or Phoneb ook soft key in Idle Mode, then scr ol ling with the Nav i gation keys.

Add Entry (Phonebook 1.2) Y ou can store up to 500 names in the phone memory and each name can be associated with up to f ive numbers.

Setting Up Speed-d ial Entries 1. Press the Navi gation keys(up or do wn) to scroll to an empty location and pres s the OK soft key .

If the SI M card does not exist in the phone, th is menu will not b e activated. This menu ha s the following four sub-menus. All Copy all entries in the p hone’s memory to the SIM card.

The number , or name if avail able, displays t oge ther with the date and time w hen t he call was made. SMT-W6100 User Guide 84 Call Time (Menu 2.5) This option le ts you view the timers for ca ll s made and received. The following timers are available: • Last call time: the length of the last call. • T otal sent: the total length of all calls made si nce the timer was las t reset.

SMT-W6100 User Guide 94 Timer (Menu 3.4.3) Using the Timer feature, you can set the phon e to sound an alarm after a certain time. 1. Press the Set so f t key . 2. Enter the length of t im e you want to co unt down in hour s and minutes and p ress the OK soft key .
SMT-W6100 User Guide 95 Stopwatch (Menu 3.4.4) The stopwatch can be used to measure time s for various sports. Example : Running or swimming races Up to four stopwatches can be used. The precision of the stopwatch is one hundredth of a second. The maximum measure ment t ime is 10 hours.
