2 INTRODUCTION ■ Read this manual caref ully before using the appliance and follow the inst ructions for safety operation. ■ Sanyo never guarantee any safety if the ap pliance is used for any objects ot her than intended use or used by any procedures other than those mention ed in this manual.
3 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION It is imperative that the user compli es with this manual as it contains important safety advice. Items and procedures are described so that you can use this unit correctly and safely. If the precautions advised are fo llowed, this will prevent possible injury to the user and any other person.
4 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION Do not use the unit outdoors. Current leakage or electric shock may result if the unit is exposed to rain water. Only qualified engineers or serv ice personnel should install the unit. The installation by unqualified personnel may cau se electric shock or fire.
5 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION Ensure you do not inhale or consume medication or aero sols from around the unit at the time of maintenance. These may be harmful to your health. Never splash water directly onto the unit as this may cause el ectric shock or short circuit.
6 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION Use a dedicated po wer source (a dedicated circui t with a breaker) as indica ted on the rating label attached to the unit. A branched circuit may cause fire resulting fro m abno rmal heating. Connect the po w er supply plug to the power source firmly after remov ing the dust on the plug.
7 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS This equipment is designe d to be safe at least under the following conditions (based on the IEC-61010-1): ■ Indoor use; ■ Altitude up to 2000 m; ■ Ambient temperature.

9 FREEZER COMPONENTS 1. Lock: Turn clockwise to 180 o with a key and the outer door is secu rely locked. 2. Magnetic door gasket: This prevent the cold air from escaping. Always keep clean. 3. Handle: Always grip this handle to open and cl o se the outer door.
10 FREEZER COMPONENTS Control panel 1. Alarm test key (ALA RM TEST): Buzzer will sound and remote alarm will b e activated b y pressing. 2. Alarm buzzer stop key (BUZZER): Press this key to silence the bu zzer in the event that the alarm operates and buzzer soun ds.
11 INSTALLATION SITE T o operate this unit properly and to obt ain maximum performance, inst all the unit in a locati on with the following conditions: ■ A location not subjected to direct sunlight Do not install the unit under direct sunlight. Installati on in a location subjected to direct sunlight can not obtain the intended performance.
12 INSTALLATION 1. Removing the packagi ng materials and tapes Remove all transp ortation packaging materials a nd tapes. Open the doors and ventilate the unit. If the outside panels are dirty, clean them wit h a diluted neutral dishwashing detergent.
13 TEMPERATURE SETTING Table 1 shows the basic operation method. Perform key operations in the sequence indicated in the table. The example in the table is based on t he assu mption that the free zer temperature is -20 o C. Note: The unit is set at the factory that the chamber temperature -30 o C.
14 REMOTE ALARM TERMINAL WARNING Always disconnect the po w er supply cord before connecting an alarm device to the remote alarm terminal. The terminal of the remote alarm is installed at th e top of the unit. The alarm is outputted from this terminal between terminal 1 and termina l 2.
15 ALARM TEMPERATURE SETTING This unit is provided with both high an d low temper ature alarms. The temperature at which the alarm is activated may be changed. The available set range for high temperature alarm is between +5 o C and +15 o C, and -5 o C and -15 o C for low temperature alarm a g ainst the chamber temperature.
16 ALARMS & SAFETY FUNCTIONS This unit has the alarms and safety funct ions show n in Table 4, and also self diagnosti c functions. 17 DEFROSTING Use the scraper provided for rem oving the frost if the freezer operation m ust be continued. Pay attention not to impact or damage the inner wall. 1. When defrosting, move all the contents of contain er s in the freezer to another low temperat ure fre ezer.
18 REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY Location of a nickel-metal-hy dride battery This unit is provided a nickel-metal -hydride battery for the power failure warning device. The battery is located in the battery mounting plate inside the cove r on the upper side.
19 TROUBLESHOOTING If the unit malfunctions, ch eck out the following bef ore calling for service. Malfunction Check/Remedy The chamber is not cooled at all ■ The circuit breaker of power so urce is active. ■ The voltage is too low? (In this case, call an electrician.
20 DISPOSAL OF UNIT WARNING If the unit is to be stored unused in an unsupe rvised area for an extended pe riod ensure that children do not have access and doors canno t be closed completely. The disposal of the unit should be accomplished by appropriate perso nnel.

25 TEMPERATURE RECORDER (OPTION) WARNING Always disconnect the po wer supply to the unit prior to attachment of a temperature recorder in order to prevent electric shock or injury . An automatic temperature recorders is available fo r the freezer as the optional compon ent.

27 TEMPERATURE RECORDER (OPTION) <MTR-G85> 1. Attach the recorder to the mounting kit (MTR-S7) by following the procedure shown in the m anual e nclosed with the mounting kit. 2. Remove the screw on the cover for the record er space on the upper front of the freezer.
