Welcome 15 W elcome Your Avaya 1140E IP Deskphone brings voice and data to your desktop. The IP Deskphone co nnec ts directly to a Local Area Net wor k (LAN) through an Ethern et connection. The SIP IP Deskphone commun icates using Session In itiated Protocol (S IP) after the firmware (FW) is upgraded to a SIP-enabled version.

Welcome 19 This section describes the controls on your IP Deskphone. Your IP Deskphone can have fixed keys with icons or with labels. Thi s document presents both versions of the fixed key. The keys on either side of the LCD disp lay area are User-defined feature keys , with labels on the LC D.
Welcome 20 Press the Handsfree key to activate the built-in speaker and microph one of the IP Deskphone. Note: The Handsfree LED indicator on the Handsfree key lights to indicate when handsfree is active. Use the Navigation Key Cluster to scroll through menus and lists that appe ar on the LCD display screen or for text en tr y.
Welcome 21 Press the Headset key to answer a call using the headset or to switch a call from th e handset or handsfre e to the headset. Note: The headset LED indi cator on the Headset key lights to indicate that the headset is in use. Press the Hold key to put an active call on hold.

Using anything other th an a soft, dry cloth can co ntaminate IP Deskphone comp onents and cause premature failure.
Welcome 26 Context-sensitive soft keys Y our IP Deskphone has fou r context- sensitive sof t keys beneath the LCD screen. The conte xt -se n sitiv e s oft keys access different fe at ur es and menus depending on the state of the IP Deskphone and the menu you access.

Using your IP Deskphone 58 1. Form a small bend in the cab le. 2. Thread the adap ter cord through the chan nels in the stand. To use PoE, your connected LAN must support PoE. A PoE-enabled LAN delivers power to your IP Deskphone o ver the CAT-5 network ca ble and an AC adapter is not required.
