Antenna connection Suppli ed FM antenna: Connect the FM antenna wire to the FM 75 OHMS ter minal and position the FM antenna wire in the direction where t he strongest signal can be received. Suppli ed AM l oop antenna: Connect the AM loop ant enna to the AM LOOP jack.
12 XL-HP505 Preparation for Use System connectio ns (continued) ! Connecting the AC power cord After checki ng all the connections have been made correctly, plu g the AC power cord of this unit into the AC outlet. If you plug in the unit first, the unit will enter the demonstrat io n mode.
13 XL-HP505 Basic Operation Remote contro l ! Battery inst allation Precautions for battery use: " Replace all old batteries wi th new ones at the sam e time. " Do not m ix old and ne w batteries. " Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for long periods of time.

Illumination light control When the power is turned on, light illuminates around the volum e control. To turn on/ off the light, h old down the CLEAR/DIMMER but- ton on t he remote c ontrol more than 2 seco nds.

To confirm the time display: Note: The "CLOCK" or t i me wi l l fl as h to confirm t he time di spl ay when the AC power supply is restored after a power failur e or unpl ugging t he unit.
16 XL-HP505 CD Playback List enin g to a CD ( CDs ) This sys tem can also play au dio CD-R and CD-RW discs, but can- not record. Some audio CD-R -RW discs ma y not be playabl e due to the s tate of the disc or the d evice that was used f or recording.
17 XL-HP505 CD Playback " Playback will begin from track 1 on t he DISC 1. A fter that disc fin- ishes pla yi n g, th e nex t d is c w ill au tom atically play. " After the l a st t rack on the fi ft h disc is p lay ed, t he CD player stop s automatically.
18 XL-HP505 CD Playback Advanced CD playback ! To specify a disc to play You can play a disc by specifying the disc number. Not e: If the bu tton of t he di sc tr ay with n o d isc is pres sed , pla yba ck w ill not start and t he disc indi cator will go out.
19 XL-HP505 CD Playback ! Repeat play Repeat play can play all 5 discs , all tracks on a chosen disc , or a programmed sequence continuosly. To cancel repeat play: Press the / button again. " " will go out. To cancel repeat play: Press the CD DIRECT PLAY button again.
20 XL-HP505 CD Playback Advanced CD Playback (continued) ! Programmed play You can choose up to 32 selection s for playback in the order you like. To cancel the programmed play mode: While in the stop mode and the "MEMORY" indicator is lit, press the CLEAR/DIMMER button on the rem ote control.

27 XL-HP505 Advanced Features Timer and sle ep o peration Using the once timer and daily timer in combination: For example, use t he once timer to record a radio pro gram, and use the daily timer as an alarm clock. Note: When set times f or the daily timer and once ti mer overlap, the onc e timer takes pri ority.

Connect an RCA cor d from a commercially av ai lable speaker wit h a built-in amplifier to the SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT jack.
