Antenna connection Suppli ed FM antenna: Connect the FM antenna wire to the FM 75 OHMS ter minal and position the FM antenna wire in the direction where t he strongest signal can be received. Suppli ed AM loop antenn a: Connect the AM loop ant enna to the AM LOOP jack.
12 XL-HP707 Preparation for Use System connectio ns (continued) ! AC power connection After checki ng all the connections have been made correctly, plu g the AC power cord of this unit into the AC outlet. If you plug in the unit first, the unit will enter the demonstrat ion mode.
13 XL-HP707 Preparation for Use Remote contro l ! Battery inst allation Precautions for battery use: " Replace all old batteries wi th new ones at the same time. " Do not m ix old and ne w batteries. " Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for long periods of time.
14 XL-HP707 Basic Operation Genera l control ! To turn the po wer on Press the ON/ STAND-BY button t o turn the power on. ! Illumination light control When the power is t urned on, the entire dis play and ring around th e volume control light up.
15 XL-HP707 Basic Operation Setting t he clock In this example, the clock is set for the 12-hour (AM 12:00) display. To confirm the time display: [When the unit is in t he stand-by mode] Press the CLOCK/TIMER button. The time display will appear for about 10 seconds.
16 XL-HP707 CD Playback List enin g to a CD ( CDs) This system c an play audio CD, CD-R and CD-RW di scs, bu t can- not record. Some audio CD-R and CD-RW discs may not be playable due to the state of the disc or the device that was used for recording.
17 XL-HP707 CD Playback " Playback wi ll begin from trac k 1 on disc 1. A fter that dis c finishe s playin g, the next dis c will autom atically play. " After the l ast track on the f ifth di sc is played, t he CD player stop s automatically.
18 XL-HP707 CD Playback Advanc ed CD playba ck ! To specify a disc to play You can play a disc by specifying the disc number. " Playback will begin from track 1 on the chosen disc. " After the last track on the chosen di sc is played, the CD player stops automatical ly.
19 XL-HP707 CD Playback ! Repeat play Repeat play can play all 5 discs , all tracks on a chosen disc , or a programmed sequence continuously. To cancel repeat play: Press the / button again. " " will go out. To cancel repeat play: Press the CD DIRECT PLAY button again.
20 XL-HP707 CD Playback Advanced CD Play back (continued) ! Programmed play You can choose up to 32 selection s for playback in the order you like. To cancel the programmed play mode: While in the stop mode and the "MEMORY" indicator is lit, press the CLEAR/DIMMER button on the rem ote control.
21 XL-HP707 Radio Listen ing to the rad io Auto power o n function: When you press any of the following buttons, the unit turns on. " TUNER (BAND) button (main unit and remote contr ol): The unit turns on and the "TUNER" function is activated.

(Preset tuning) Not e: The backup funct ion protect s the memorized st ations for a few hours should the re be a power failure or the AC power cord discon- nection.
23 XL-HP707 Tape Playback Listen ing to a c asse tte tap e ! Tape playback Auto pow er on function: When you press any of the following buttons, the unit turns on. " TAPE button (mai n unit and remote contro l): The uni t turns on and the "TAPE" f unction i s activated.
24 XL-HP707 Tape Playback ! Various tape functions Ca utio n: " To remove the cassette, press t he (TAPE ) button, and then open the compartment. " If a power failure occurs during ta pe operation, the tape head will remain engaged with the tap e and the casset te door will not open.
25 XL-HP707 Tape Recording ! Recording from a CD (CDs ) You can rec ord the desi red CD using the CD DI RECT PLAY button . To stop record ing: Press the (TAPE ) butt on. The CD and tape will stop. 1 Press the ON/STAND-BY b utton to t urn the power on.

27 XL-HP707 Advanced Features Timer and sle ep opera tion Timer playback: The unit turns on and plays the desired source (CD, tuner , tape) at the preset time. Timer recordin g: The unit turns on and starts recording from the t uner at th e preset time.

29 XL-HP707 Advanced Features Note: Checking the timer set ting in the timer stand-by mode: Canceling the timer setting in the timer stand-by mode: Reusing the memorized timer setting: The timer set ting will be memorized once it is entered. To reuse the same setting, perform the following operations .

32 XL-HP707 Advanced Features ! Subwoofer c onnection When a commerci ally available speak er with a bui lt-in amplifier i s connected t o this unit, yo u can enjoy sound with emphasized bass. Connect an RCA cor d from a commercially av ailable speaker wi th a built-in amplifier to the SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT jack.

If trouble occurs When this product is subject ed to strong exte rnal interference (mechanical s hock, excess ive stat ic electrici ty, a bnormal supply voltage due to lightning, etc. ) or if it is operat ed incorrectly, it may malfunction.
34 XL-HP707 References ! Condensation Sudden temperatur e changes, st orage or operati on in an ext remely humid environment may cause condensat ion inside the cabinet (CD pickup, t ape heads, etc.) or on the t ransmitter o n the remot e control. Condensation can caus e the unit to malfunc tion.
