5 AXIS 210/211 - Product Features Product Features The AXIS 210 and the AXIS 211 are part of the latest generation of fully featured Axis Network Cameras, all based on the AXIS ARTPEC-2 compression chip. The AXIS 211 features a DC-Iris an d support for Power over Ethernet (PoE).
6 AXIS 210/211 - Product Featu res AXIS 211 - Extra Features DC-Iris The AXIS 211 features a varifocal DC-Iris, which automatically regulates the am ount of light entering the camera. Tele/wide and focus are adjusted manually with the aid of the pullers mounted on the lens.
7 AXIS 210/211 - Product Features Overview Power Connector - For connection of the PS-K powe r adapter (included). I/O Connector - The I/O terminal connector provi d es the physical interface to one transistor output, one digital input and an auxiliary connection point for DC power.
8 AXIS 210/211 - Product Featu res LED Indicators After completion of the startup and self test routines, the multi-co lored Network, Status, and Power LED indicators flash as follows: Network Amber Steady for connection to 10 Mbit/s network. Flashes for network act ivi ty.
9 AXIS 210/211 - Accessing the Camera Accessing the Camera To use the AXIS 210/211 on your network, it must first be installed. Please see the AXIS 210/211 Installation Guide, supplied with th e product, or availabl e from www.axis.com The cameras c an be used with mos t stan dard operating systems and browsers.
10 AXIS 210/211 - Accessing the Camera Setting the Password 1. When accessing a camera for th e first time, the ‘ Configure Root P assword ’ dialog will be displayed on the screen. 2. Enter a password and then re-enter it, to confirm the spelling.
11 AXIS 210/211 - Accessing the Camera Focusing To focus the AXIS 210 , simply turn the adjustment ring on the lens until the focus is satisfactory. To focus the AXIS 211 , follow the instructions below. 1. From the Basic Configuration page in the setup tools, open the Focus adjustment page.
12 AXIS 210/211 - Accessing the Camera The Live View Page Depending on whether or not the Live View page has be en customized, the butt ons described below may or may not be visible. To resize the video image, click the View Size buttons: half-size (x 1 /2 ), full-siz e (x1) , x 2 or x4.
13 AXIS 210/211 - Accessing the Camera The AMC viewer toolbar (AXIS Media Control) is available in Microsoft Internet Explorer only. It displays the following buttons: The Play/Stop button starts and stop s the live video stream. The Snapshot button saves a snapshot of the video image currently being displayed.
14 AXIS 210/211 - Video Streams Video Streams The AXIS 210/211 provides several different image and video stre am formats. The type to use depends on your requirements and on the pro perties of your network. The Live View page in the AXIS 210/211 prov ides access to Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams, as well as to single JPEG ima ges.
15 AXIS 210/211 - Video Streams MPEG-4 protocols and communication methods To deliver live streaming video over IP netw orks, various combinations of transport protocols and broadcast methods are employed.
16 AXIS 210/211 - Video Streams RTP/RTSP This unicast method is RTP tunnele d over RTSP. This can be used to exploit the fact that it is relatively simple to configur e firewalls to allow RTSP traffic. RTP/RTSP/HTTP or RTP /R TSP /HTT PS These two methods can also be used to traverse firewalls.
17 AXIS 210/211 - Video Streams Other MPEG-4 clients Although it may be possible to use other clients to view th e MPEG-4 stream, this is not guaranteed by Axis. For some other clients, e. g. QuickTime™ the Video Obje ct Type must be set to Simple .
18 AXIS 210/211 - Configuration Configuration This section describes how to configure the camera, and is intended for product Administrators, who have unrestricted acce ss to all the Setup tools, and Opera tors , who have access to the settings for Video & Image, Live View Config and Event Configuration.
19 AXIS 210/211 - Configuration Video and Image settings The following descriptions offer examples of the features available in the cameras. For details of each setting, please refer to the online help availa ble from the setup tools. Click to access the online help.
20 AXIS 210/211 - Configuration Overlay Settings Use these settings to include a) an image as an overlay, and/or b) the date and time, along with text of your own. Text overlays are all included on one line at the top or bottom of the video image. Image overlays can be placed anywhere in the video image.

Advanced - Camera Settings These pages includes different settings for fine-tuning the video image. Note that the advanced settings available depend on the camera model.
22 AXIS 210/211 - Configuration AXIS Media Control The AXIS Media Control (AMC) is installed au tomatically the first time the camera is accessed from a browser. Th e AMC control panel can be ope ned by right-clicking on the video image in the Live View web page.
23 AXIS 210/211 - Live View Config Live View Config Layout These are the tools for deciding the layout of the Live View page. The layout can be set in 3 ways: • Use Axis look - the layout is unchanged. • Use custom settings - modify the Axis look, with your own colors, images etc.
24 AXIS 210/211 - Live View Config Upload Own Web Fi les Your own web files, background pictures, etc., must first be uploaded to the camera in order to be available for selection in the Custom Settings setup dialog. Once uploaded, the files are shown in the drop-down lists.
25 AXIS 210/211 - Live View Config User-defined Links Enter a descriptive name and ente r the URL in the provided field. Example 1. Check Show Custom Link 1 2. Enter a descriptive na me, e.g. My W ebsite 3. Check the radio button for web link . 4. Enter the web link: e.
26 AXIS 210/211 - Live View Config Default Video Format in Inte rnet Explorer for Windows Select the defa ult format to use on the Live View page. Checking the box for S how video format selection displays a drop-down list on the Live View page allowing you to temporarily change the format.
27 AXIS 210/211 - Live View Config External Video The camera can also display video images from other Axis network cameras and video servers. These are known as External Video sources. Each external video source is available from the drop-down li st on the Live View page.
30 AXIS 210/211 - Event Configuration Event Configuration An event in the camera is when an Event Type is activated and causes certain actions to be performed. The event type is the set of paramete rs (or cond itions) that specifies how and when which actions will be pe rformed.
31 AXIS 210/211 - Event Confi guration Configuring Event Types An Event Type describes how and when the camera will perform certain actions. Example: If somebody passes in front of the camera and an event that uses motion detection has been con- figured to act on this, the camera can e.
32 AXIS 210/211 - Event Configuration Pre-trigger and Post- trigg er buffers This function is very usef ul when checking to see what happened immediately before and/or after a trigger, e.g. 30 seconds befo re and/or after a door was opened. Check the Upload images checkbox under Event Types > Add Trigge red.
33 AXIS 210/211 - Event Confi guration Motion Detection The motion detection feature is used to gene rate an alarm whenever movement occurs (or stops) in the video image.
34 AXIS 210/211 - Event Configuration 7. Click Save . Please see the online help for desc riptions of each available option. Examples: • Avoid triggering on small objects in the video image by setting t he object size level to high.
35 AXIS 210/211 - System Options System Options Security User access control is enabled by default. An administrator can set up other users, by giving these user names and passwords.
36 AXIS 210/211 - System Options Date & Time Current Server Time - displays the current date and t ime (2 4h clock). The time can be displayed in 12h clock format in the Overlay Images (see below). New Server Time - Select your time zone from the dr op-down list.
37 AXIS 210/211 - System Options Services Options for notification of IP address change - if the IP address for the video server changes, e.g. automatically by DHCP, you can choose to be notified of the change. Click Settings... and enter the required information.
38 AXIS 210/211 - System Options Link-Local Address This is enabled by default an d assigns the AXIS 210/211 an additional IP address for use with UPnP ™ . The AXIS 210/211 can have both a Link -Local IP and a static/DHCP-supplied IP address at th e same time - th ese will not affect each oth er.
39 AXIS 210/211 - System Options UPnP™ The AXIS 210/211 includes support for UPnP ™ , which is enabled by default. If also enabled on your computer, the camera will automaticall y be detected and a new icon will be added to “My Network Places.” Note: UPnP must also be enabled on your Windows XP or ME computer.
40 AXIS 210/211 - System Options Backup - To take a backup of all of the parameters, and any user-d efined scripts, click this button. If necessary, it will then be possi ble to return to the previous settin gs, if settings are changed and there is unexpected behavior.

43 AXIS 210/211 - The I/O Terminal Connector Connect input/output devices to th e terminal connector as follows: 1. Loosen the corresponding screw on top of the pin (see above for the correct pin to use). 2. Push the cable into the connect or and secure it by fastening the screw .
44 AXIS 210/211 - Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Checking the Firmware One of your first actions when troubleshooting a problem should be to check the currently installed firmware version. Th e latest version may contain a correction that fixes your particular problem.
45 AXIS 210/211 - Troubleshooting Emergency Recovery Procedure If power or the network connect ion to the came ra is lost during the upgrade, the process will fail and the unit will become un responsive . A flashing red Status LED indicates a failed upgrade.
46 AXIS 210/211 - Troubleshooting Symptoms, Possible Causes and Remedial Actions Problems setti ng the IP address When using ARP/Ping . Try the install ation again. The IP address must be set within two minute s after power has been applied to the camera.
