8 4 Network + System Requ i remen ts T o begin using the WL -601/606, make sure y ou m eet the following as minimum requireme nts: • PC/Notebook. • 1 Free Ethernet p ort. • WiFi card/USB dong le (802.11 b/g /n) – optional. • Annex A, AD S L inter net connection.
9 6 Setup LAN, WAN 7 PC Network Adapter setup ( Windows XP ) • Enter [Star t Menu] se lect [Control panel] select [Netw ork]. • Select [Local Ar ea Con nection]) icon=>sel ect [properti.

11 • Select the [Ge neral] tab . a. WL- 601/606 supp orts [DHC P] function, p lease select both [Obta in an IP address auto matically] and [Obta in DNS serv er address autom atically].
12 8 Bring up WL-601/60 6 Connect the su pplied power-a dapter to th e power inlet port and conn ect it to a wall out let. TheWL- 601/606 autom atically enters th e s elf-test phase. During self-test phase, the Power LED will blink briefly, and t hen will be lit continuous ly to indicate that this product is in normal op eration.
13 The System status section allows you to monitor the current status of your ro uter the U P time, hardware information, serial number a s well as firmware version information i s displaye d here.
14 LAN settings The LAN t ab gives y ou the op portunity to change the IP s ettings of t he WL- 601/606. Click <App ly> at the bottom of th is screen to sa ve any changes. IP address 192.168.0.1. It is the r outer’s LA N IP ad dress (Y our LAN cl ients default gateway IP a ddress).
15 Lease T ime For ever. In the Lea se T ime sett ing y ou can specify the tim e period that the DH CP lends a n IP address to yo ur LAN clients. The DH CP wil l change your LAN c lient’s IP a ddress wh en this t ime thresh old period is reached.
16 Device Status View the Br oadband mo dem/router’s current configuration s ettings. Dev ice Status displays the conf iguration setting s you’ve configured in the Wizard / Basic Settin gs / Wireles s Settings secti on.
17 Internet Status This page displays w hether the ADSL port is con nected to a ADSL service provider. It also disp lays the router’ s WAN IP address, Subnet Mask, and ISP Gateway as w ell as MA C address, th e P rimary DNS. P ress R enew button to renew your WAN IP ad dress.
18 ADSL Status This pag e shows t he curr ent oper ation mode, st atus of your A DSL connect ion, the data rate and the qua lity of your ADS L link. Operatio n mode allows manual selection o f the ADSL mode.
19 DHCP Client St atus DHCP This pa ge shows all DHC P clients (LAN PCs) current ly connecte d to your network. T he ta ble s hows t he ass igned I P ad dress, MAC a ddress a nd ex piration time for ea ch DHCP leas ed client. Use the Refre sh button to update t he availabl e informati on.

21 10 Configuration Wizard Click Wi zard to configure t he mo dem. T he Set up wizard wi ll now b e display ed; check that t he adsl line is connect ed and click N ext. Select your country from the Country list. Sele ct your intern et prov ider. Click Next.
22 Depending on the ch osen prov ider, yo u may need to e nter your u ser name and password or hostna me in the follow ing w indow. After y ou have entered the correct informat ion, click Next .
23 11 Wireless Settings You can set paramet ers tha t are used for th e w ireless sta tion s t o co nnect to this r outer. The para meters inclu de Mo de, ESSID, Channel Num ber and Associated C lient. Wireless Fun ction Enable or D isable Wirele ss function here.
24 Basic Settings Band All ows you to set the AP fi xed at 8 02.1 1b or 802.11g m ode. You can also select B+ G+n mod e to allow 802 11b , 802.11g a nd 802.11n c lients at the same t ime. ESSID This is the name of t he wireless signal which is broad casted.
25 Advanced Settin gs This tab allow s yo u to set t he adva nced wireles s options. The options included are Authenticat ion Type, Fragme nt Threshold , RTS Threshold, B eacon Interval, and Preamb le T ype. Y ou sh ould no t change thes e param eters unless you know w hat effect th e changes wi ll have o n the router.
26 Preambl e Type The “Long Preamble” can provide better wi rele ss L AN compatib ility whi le the “Short P reamb le” can provide better w ireless L AN performanc e.
27 Security This Access Poi nt provides com plete wireless LA N security funct ions, included are W EP, IEE E 802.1 1x, I EEE 802. 11x with WEP, WPA with pre-s hare d k ey and WPA with RADIUS . With these sec urity functions, you can prevent your wireless LAN from illegal access.
28 WEP When you select 64-b it or 128-bit WEP key, you have to enter W EP keys t o encrypt data. You can generate t he key by your self and enter it. You can enter four WEP k eys a nd select one of th em as a default key. Then t he router can rece ive any pack ets encrypte d by one of th e four keys.
29 Click <Apply> at the bottom of the scr een t o save th e ab ove configurations. You can now con figure other s ections b y c hoosi ng Cont inue, or choose A pply to apply the settings an d reboot the device. WPA Pre-shared Key Wi-Fi Pr otected Access (WPA) is an a dvance d sec urity sta ndard.
30 WPA-Radius Wi-Fi Protected Access ( WPA ) is a n advanced security standard. You can use an externa l RADIUS s erver to authenticat e wir eless stations a nd provid e the session key to encry pt data during comm unication. It uses TKIP or CCMP ( AES ) to chang e t he encryption ke y fr equently.
31 ACL This wireless router supports MAC A ddress Contr ol, which prev ents unauthorize d clients fro m accessing your wire less network. Enabl e wireless acces s con trol Enables the w ireless acce s.
32 12 Firewall Settings The Broadba nd r outer provi des extensive fir ewall prot ection by restricting connection parameters, thus limi tin g the risk of hacker atta cks, a nd defending against a wide arra y of comm on Int ernet a ttacks.
33 DMZ If y ou have a cl ient PC that ca nnot run an Internet application (e.g. Games) properly from behind the NAT firewall, then you can open u p the firewall restrictions to u nrestrict ed tw o-way Int ernet access b y definin g a DMZ Host.
34 Denial of Servi ce (DoS) The B roadba nd rout er's firewall can b lock c ommon hacker attacks, inclu ding Denial of Service, P ing of D eath, Por t S can and Sync Flo od.
35 Access You can r estrict users from accessing certa in Intern et applicatio ns/services (e.g. Inter net we bsites, email, FTP etc.), Access Control a llows users t o def ine the tra ffic type p ermitt ed in y our LAN. Yo u can control whic h PC c lient can have access to these ser vices.
36 Filter client PC b y MAC Check “ Ena ble MA C Fil terin g” to enable MAC Filtering. Add PC Fill in “Client P C MA C Address” and “Comment” of t he PC that is allowed to acce ss the Inter net, and then cl ick “Add”.
37 URL block You ca n block a ccess t o som e Web sites from particular PCs by enter ing a full URL address or j ust ke ywords of the Web s ite. Enabl e URL B locking Enable/ disable URL B locking Add U RL Keyword Fill in “URL/K eyword” and t hen click “A dd”.

39 Virtual server Use the Virtual Ser ver function when you want different servers/clients in your LAN to hand le different serv ice/Internet application ty pe (e.g. Email, FTP, We b server etc.) f rom the Internet. Computers u se numbers cal led port numbers to recognize a particular service/Int ernet applicatio n type.

42 Popular applicati ons This section lists t he more po pular applications that require multiple connect ions. Select an application from the Popular Applications selection. Once y ou have selected a n application, select a location ( 1-10) i n the C opy to sel ection b ox an d t hen click th e Co py to button.
43 UPNP With UPn P, all PCs in you Intr anet wi ll discover this ro uter aut omatica lly. So, you don’t h av e to conf igure your PC and it ca n easily acce ss the Inter net through this router. UPnP Feature Disabl e You can enable or Disable the UPnP feat ure here.
44 QoS QoS can let yo u class ify Intern et applicat ion tr affic by s ource/dest ination IP address a nd port number. You ca n assign priority for each type of a pplication and r eserve bandwidth for it. The packets of a pplications with higher pr iority will a lways go f irst.
45 Edit a QoS rule Selec t the rule you want to edit and c lick “Edit”, t hen e nter the d eta il form of the Q oS rule. C lick “ A pp ly ” after edit ing t he form and the rule will be saved. Adjust QoS rule priority You can s elect the r ule and c lick “Move Up” to m ake its priority higher.

47 Snmp Use the SN MP config uration screen to disp lay and mo dify parameters for the Simple N etwork Ma nagement Prot ocol (SN MP). SN MP operation mode to select t he SNMP m odes for th is device. Co mmunity A computer attached to t he netwo rk, called a Networ k Management Station (NMS) , can be u sed to acc ess this infor mation.
48 Trap Specify t he IP a ddress of the NMS to not ify when a significant eve nt is detected by th e age nt. When a tra p condition o ccurs, the SN MP agent s ends an SNMP tra p message to any NMS s pecified as a trap receiver . IP Address Tra ps are sent t o this a ddress wh en error s or specific eve nts occur on the n etwork.
49 14 TOOLBOX Sett i ngs Password change option s You can chan ge the p assword required to lo g i nto the broadba nd router's system we b-based mana gement. B y defa ult, the passw ord is: admin. Passwords can contain 0 to 12 alpha numeric characters, a nd a re case sensitive.
50 Time Zone The Time Zo ne allows your ro uter to ba se its time on t he settings c onfigured here, which w ill affect f unctions such as Log entries and Firewal l settings. Set Time Z one Select t he time zone of th e co untry you are current ly in.
51 Remote Managemen t The rem ote management function allows y ou to designate a host in the Internet t he ability to configure t he Broa dband router from a remote site.
52 Firmware Upgrade This page al lows you to u pgrade the router’s firm ware. Firmware Up grade This tool al lows y ou to upgrade th e Broa dband router’s system firmwa re.
53 Backup Settings The Back up scree n al lows yo u to sa ve (B ackup) th e router’s current configurat ion settings. When you save the configuration setting (B ackup) you can r e-load the saved configurati on int o the router throu gh the Restore selection.
54 Reset You can reset t he r outer’ s system sho uld any p rob lem exist. T he reset function ess entially re-boot s your rout er’s syste m..
55 DDNS DDNS a llows you t o m ap t he static domain name to a dy namic IP address. You must get a n acco unt, password a nd y our stat ic domain n ame from the DDNS service provid ers. This router supports DynDNS, TZO and other common DDN S serv ice providers.
