Introduction Congr a tulations on your purchase of the WL -615 Wireless Network Broadband modem/R o uter . The WL -615 is compliant with 802.11g & 802.11b. The WL -615 is not only a Modem or Wirele ss Access P oin t, but also doubles as a 4-port full-duplex Switch that connects your wired-Ethernet devices together at.

4 Network + System Requirements T o begin using the WL -615, make sure you meet the following as minimum requirements: • PC/Notebook. • Operat in g System – Microsoft Windows XP/2000/VIST A • 1 Free Ethernet port. • Wi-Fi card/USB dongle (802.

7 PC Network Adapter setup ( Windows XP ) • Enter [Start Menu] select [Control panel] select [Network]. • Select [Local Area Connection]) icon=>select [properties].
• Select [Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)] =>Click [Properties]. • Select the [General] tab. a. WL -615 supports [DHCP] function, please select both [Obtain an IP address automatically] and [Obtain DNS server address automa tically].
8 Bringing up the WL-615 Connect the su pplied power-adapter to the power in let port an d connect it to a wall outlet. The WL -615 automatical ly enters the self-test phase. During self-t e st phase, the Po w er LED will b link briefly , and then w ill be lit continuously to indicate that this product is in no rmal operation.

The Syst e m status section allows you to monitor the current status of your router: the UP time, hardware information, serial number as well as firmware version information is displayed here.
LAN settings The LAN tab gives you the opportunity to change the IP settings of the WL - 615. Click <Apply> at the bottom of this screen to save any changes. IP address 192.168.0.1. It is the router ’ s LAN IP address (Y our L AN cl ients default gateway IP address).
Lease Time Forever . In the Lease Time setting you can specify the time period that the DHC P lends an IP address to your L AN clients. The DHCP will change your LAN client’ s IP address when this time threshold period is re ached.
Device Status View the Broadband modem/router ’s current configuration settings. Device Status displays the configuration se ttings you’ve configured in the Wizard / Basic Settings / Wireless Settings section.
Internet Status This page displays whether the ADSL port is connected to an ADSL service provider . It also displays the router’ s WAN IP address, Subnet Mask, and ISP Gateway as well as MAC address, the Primary DNS. Press Renew button to renew your WAN IP ad dress.
ADSL Status This page shows the current operation mode, status of your ADSL connection, the data rate and the quality of your ADSL link. Operation mode allows manual selection of the ADSL mode.
DHCP Client Status DHCP This page show s al l DHCP clients (LAN PCs) currently connecte d to your network. The table shows the assigned IP address, MAC ad dress and expiration time for each DHCP leased client. Use the Refresh button to update the available information.
WL-615 Log View the operation log of the WL-615 . This page shows the current system log of the Broadband modem/router . It displa ys any event occurred after sys tem start up.
10 Configuration Wizard Click Wizard to configure the modem. T he Setup wizard will now be displayed; check that the adsl line is connected and click Next.
Depending on the chosen provider , you may need to enter your user name and password or hostname in the following window. After you ha ve entered the correct information, click Next .
1 1 Wireless Settings Y ou can set parameters that are used for the wire less stations to connect to this router . The parameters include Mode, ESSID, Channel N umber and Associated Client. Wireless Function Enable or Disable Wireless function here. Click Apply and wait for module to be ready & loaded.
Basic Settings Band Allows you to set the AP f ixed at 802.11b or 802.11g mode. Y ou can also select B+G+N mode to allow 802.11b, 802 .11g and 802.11n clients at the same time. ESSID This is the name of the wire less signal which is broadcasted. All the devices in the same wireless LAN should have th e same ESSID .
Advanced Settings This tab allow s you to set the advanced wireless options. The options included are Authentication T ype, Fragment Threshold, R TS T hreshold, Beacon Interval, and Preamble T ype. Y ou should no t change these parameters unless you know what effect the changes will have on the router .
Preamble Type The “Long Preamble” can provide better wireless LAN compatibility while the “Short Preamb le” can provide better wireless L AN performance. Broadcast ESSID If you enabled “ Broadcast ESSID” , every wireless station located within the coverage of this acce ss point can d iscover this access point easily .
Security This Access Point provides complete wireless LAN security functions, included are WEP , IEEE 802.11x, IEEE 802.11x with WEP , W PA with pre-shared key and WP A with RADIUS. With these security functions, you can prevent your wireless LAN from illegal acce ss.
WEP When you select 6 4-bit or 128 -bit WEP key , you have to e nter WEP keys to encrypt da ta. Y ou can generate the key by yourself and enter i t. Y ou can enter four WEP keys and select one of them as a default key . Then the router can receive any packets encrypted by one of the four keys.
Click <Apply> at the bottom of the screen to save the above configurations. Y ou can now configure other sections by choosing Continue, or choose Apply to apply the settings and reboot the device . WPA Pre-shared Key Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA ) is an advanced security standard.
WPA-Radius Wi-Fi Protected Access ( WPA ) is an advanced security standard. Y ou can use an external RADIUS server to authenticate wireless stations and provide the session key to encrypt data during communication. It uses TKIP o r CCMP ( AES ) to change the encryption key frequently .
ACL This w ireless r outer supports MAC Address Control, which pre vents unauthorized clients from accessing your wireless network. Enable wireless access control En ables the wireless access control function Adding an address into the li st Enter the "MAC Address” o f the wireless station to be added and then click "Apply".
WPS Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is the simplest way to establish a connection between the wireless clients and the wirele ss router . Y ou don’t hav e to select the encryption mode and fill in a long encryption passphrase every time w hen you try to setup a wireless connection.
WPS Current Status If the wireless se curity (encryption) function of this wireless router is properly s e t, you’ll see a ‘Configured’ message h e re. Otherwise, you’ll see ‘UnConfigured’ . Self Pin Code T his is the WPS PIN code of the wirele ss router .
12 Firewall Settings The Broadband router provides extensive firewall protection by re stricting connection param e ters, thus limiting the risk of hacker attacks, and de fending against a wide arra y of co mmon Internet attacks.
DMZ If you have a client PC that cannot run an Internet application (e.g. Games) properly from behind the NA T firewall, then you can open up the f irewall restrictions to unrestricted two-way Internet access by defining a DMZ Host.
The Broadband router's firewall can block common hacker attacks, including Denial of Service, Ping of Death, P or t Scan an d Sync Flood. If Internet attacks occur the router can log the events.
Access Y ou can restrict users from accessing certain Internet applications/services (e.g. Internet websites, email, FTP etc.). Access Control allows users to define the traffic type permitted in your LAN. Y ou can contro l which PC client can have access to these services.
Filter client PC by M AC Che ck “Enable MAC Filtering” to enable MAC Filtering. Add PC Fill in “C lient PC MAC Address” and “Comment” of the PC t hat is allowed to access the Interne t, and then click “A dd” .
URL block Y ou can block access to some W eb sites from particular PCs by entering a full URL address or just keywords of the W eb site. Enable URL Blocking Enable/disa ble URL Blocking Add URL Keyword Fill in “URL/K eyw ord” and then click “ Add” .
13 Advanced Settings Network Address T ranslation (NA T ) allows mu ltiple users at your local site to access the Internet through a single Public IP Address or multiple Public IP Addresses.
Virtual server Use the Virtual Server function when you want different se rvers/clients in your LAN to handle different service/Internet application type (e.g. Email, FTP , W eb server etc.) from the Internet. Co mputers use numbers called por t numbers to recognize a particular serv ice/Internet application type.

Special application Some applications require multiple connections, such as In ternet games, video Conferencing, Internet telephony and others. In this section you can configure the router to su pport multiple connections for these types of applications.
Popular applications This section lists the more popular applications that require m ul tiple c onnec tions. S ele ct an application from the P opular Applications selection . Once y o u have selected an application, select a location (1-10) in the Co py to select ion box and the n click the Copy to button.
UPNP With UPnP , all PCs in you Intranet will discover this router automatically . So, you don’ t have to configure your PC an d it can e asily access the In ternet through this router . UPnP Feature Y ou can enable o r Disable the UPnP feature here.
QoS QoS can let y o u classify Internet application tr aff ic by source/destination IP address and port number . Y ou can assign priority for each type of application and reserve bandwidth for i t. The packets of applications with higher priority will always go first.
Edit a QoS r ule Se lect the r ule you want to edit and click “Ed it” , then enter the detail form of the Q oS rule. Click “ Apply ” after editing t he form and the rule will be saved. Adjust QoS rule priority Y ou can select the rule and click “Move Up” to make its priority higher .
Routing These screens define routing related parameters, including static routes an d RIP (R o uting Information Protocol) parameters. Routing Table Flags In dicates the route status: C = Direct connection on the same subnet . S = Static route. R = RIP (Routing Information Protocol) assigned route.
Enable: RIP enabled on this interface. Silent: Listens for route broadcasts and updates its route table. It does not participate in sending route broadcasts.
SNMP Use the SNMP configuration screen to display and modify parameters for the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). SNMP operation mode T o select the SNMP modes for this device. Community A computer attached to the network, called a Network Management Station (NMS), can be used to access this informa tion.

14 TOOLBOX Settings Password change options Y ou can change the password required to log into the broadband r outer's system web-based mana gement. By default, the password is: admin. Passw or ds can contain 0 to 12 alp hanumeric characters, and are case sensitive.
Time Zone The Time Zon e allows your router to base its time on the settings configured here, which will affect functions such as Lo g entries and Firewall settings. Set Time Zone Select the time zone o f the country you are currently in. The router will set its time based on your selection.
Remote Management The remote management function allows you to designate a host in the Internet the ability to configure the Broadband router from a remote site.
Firmware Upgrade This page allows you to upgrade the router’s fi r mware. Firmware Upgrade This tool allows you to upgrade the Broadband router ’s system firmware.
Backup Settings The Backup screen allows you to save (Backu p) the router’s curr ent configuration se ttings. When you save the configuration se tting (Backup) you can re-load the saved configuration into the router through the R e store selection.
Reset Y ou can reset the router’s sys tem should any problem exist. The re set function essentially re-boots your router’s system..
DDNS DDNS allows y o u to map the static domain name to a dynamic IP address. Y ou must get an account, password and your static domain name fro m the DDNS s e rvice providers. This router sup ports DynDNS , TZO and other common DDNS service providers.
