7 Y our rototiller comes fully assembled e xcept for a f ew par ts. The f ol- lowing instructions will help you unpac k your tiller and assemble and adjust your tiller’ s depth regulator le ver , cable tension and handlebar height. Y ou will need 2- 9/16” wrenches.

9 PRE-ST AR T INSPECTION 1. Make sure all saf ety guards are in place and all nuts and bolts are secure. 2. Chec k oil lev el in engine crankcase. See your engine man ual for procedure and specifications. 3. Inspect air cleaner for cleanliness . See your engine man ual f or procedure.
10 IDLE SPEED Use the “low” position on the throttle le ver to reduce stress on the engine when tilling is not being perf ormed. Lowering the engine speed to “idle” will help extend the lif e of the motor , as well as conser ve fuel and reduce the noise le vel of the equipment.
11 DRIVE SAFETY CONTROL LEVERS FOR W ARD LEVER Engages wheels and tines into f orward. Pulling the drive saf ety control lev er labeled (FORW ARD) toward the handlebar engages the wheels and tines. Releasing the lev er stops the wheels and tines and brings the tiller to a complete stop.
11 WHEEL LOCK PINS Place wheels in tilling position. 1. Remov e lock pin. Align hole in axle with hole in wheel hub . (SEE FIGURE 2) 2. Inser t lock pin through holes, f old lock pin ring to secure pin to axle. 3. Fir mly lock wheel and axle together bef ore tilling.

14 TILLING TIPS The ke y to successful tilling is to begin with a shallow cut on the first pass, and then work an inch or two deeper on each successiv e pass.
15 SER VICING THE RO T O TILLER The f ollowing inf or mation will help you mak e the necessar y checks and perf orm the procedures required to follow the normal care recommendations made f or your rototiller unit. If you pref er , your local authorized dealer can make these chec ks and perf orm the required procedures for you.
16 CHANGE FORWARD/REVERSE BEL T 1. T ur n off engine. Engine must be cool. 2. Remov e spar k plug wire and secure from spark plug. 3. Remov e belt guard. sREM ov e the f orward belt from the f orward engine pulley: - gently pull the engine recoil rope to rotate the pulley .
17 ENGINE MAINTENANCE Ref er to the engine manual included in y our par ts pack et for inf ormation on engine maintenance. Y our engine manual provides detailed inf ormation and a maintenance schedule for perf or ming the f ollowing tasks: 1 . Check oil le vel bef ore each use or after ev er y 8 hours of operation.
18 LUBRICA TION Proper lubrication of moving mechanical par ts is critical for proper care and maintenance. Oil the moving par ts at 10 hour inter vals using a 30 weight oil. CLEAN TINE AXLE SHAFT 1. T ur n off engine. Engine must be cool. 2. Remov e spar k plug wire and secure from spark plug.
19 TROUBLESHOO TING GUIDE While normal care and routine maintenance will extend the lif e of your rototiller , prolonged or constant use may e ventually require that ser vice be perf or med to allow it to continue operating properly . The troubleshooting guide belo w lists the most common problems, causes and remedies.
