6 Section 1 - F AMILIARIZA TION FIGURE 1.1 1.1 INTRODUCTION This manual has been prepared f or the operators of the SNAPPER W ALK BEHIND MOWERS . Its pur pose, aside from recommending operating and routine service requirements, is to promote saf ety through the use of accepted operating practices .
7 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS 2.1 PRE-ST ART CHECK LIST Make the f ollowing checks and perf or m the ser vice required bef ore each star t-up. 2.1.1. Check guards , deflectors, gr ass bag, adapter and cov ers to make sure all are in place and securely tightened.
8 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS 2.2.2. PROPELLING MO WER 1. Mov e ground speed control to the desired speed position. See Figure 2.4. 2. Mov e wheel dr ive control against handle to engage wheel drive and propel mow er forw ard. IMPORT ANT: F orward motion of machine must be stopped bef ore changing position of the ground speed control.
9 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS 2.6 RECYCLING OPERA TION Conv er ting this mower to the recycling oper ation requires no tools. First, ST OP engine. Raise discharge door located at rear of machine. Remove g rass catcher . Inser t recycling plug fully into discharge opening.

13 Section 4 - REP AIR & ADJUSTMENTS 4.2 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ADJUSTMENT (Engine T o T ransmission Drive Belt) The wheel drive control requires periodic adjustment to maintain proper engine to transmission drive belt tension. The adjustment is located on the r ight handle and requires no tools.
14 4.3 BEL T SER VICE The condition of the engine to transmission belt should be check ed after ev er y 25 hours of mower oper ation. 4.3.1. Engine T o T ransmission Belt Replacement 1. F ollow W ARNING statement found on this page . 2. Remov e the retaining screws that secure the belt cov er .
