6 Guide to Parts and Controls z The N button has a tacti le dot. Use the tactile dot as a reference wh en operating the play er. A Disc tray B Z (open/clos e) C N (play) D x (stop) E Power indicator Lights up when the player is turned on. F (USB) jack Connect a USB device to this jack.
7 The available functions of the remote differ depending on the disc or the situation. z Number 5, AUDIO, VOL +, and N PLAY buttons have a tact ile dot.
8 E . PREV/NEXT > Skips to the previo us/next chapter, track, or file. X PAUSE Pauses or re-starts playback. m / M (fast reverse/fast forward) • Fast reverses/fast forwards the disc when pressed during playback. Each time you press the button during playback of videos, the search speed changes.
9 Hookups and Settings Hookups and Settings Step 1: Connecting the Player Do not connect the AC power cord until you have made all the connections. For supplied accessories, see page 21. Select one of the following connection methods according to the input jacks on your TV.
10 Select one of the following connection me thods according to the input jacks on your AV amplifier (receiver). When you select A or B , make the appropriate settings in the [Audio Settings] setup (page 16).
11 Hookups and Settings Step 2: Easy Setup 1 Insert two Size AA (R6) batte ries by matching the 3 an d # ends on the batteries to the ma rkings inside the battery compartment. 2 Plug the player into the AC outlet. 3 Press [ / 1 to tu rn on the player.
12 Playback Playing a Disc For playable discs, see page 22. 1 Switch the input selector on your TV so that the signal from the player appears on your TV screen. 2 Press Z OPEN/CLOSE, and place a disc on the disc tray. 3 Press Z OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc tray.
13 Playback Playing from a USB Device You can play video/music/photo files from the connected USB device. For playable USB devices, see page 22. 1 Connect the USB dev ice to the USB jack on the player. Refer to the instruction manual supplied with the USB device before connecting.
14 Available Options Various settings and playback operations are available by pressing OPTIONS. The available items differ depending on the situation. Common options [Video] only [Music] only [Photo] only Item Details [Repeat Setting] Sets the repeat mode.
15 Settings and Adjustments Settings and A djustments Using the Settings Displays Select [Setup] on the home menu when you need to change the settings of the player. The default settings are underlined. 1 Select [Setup] on the home menu using < / , .
16 x [Cinema Conversion Mode] [Auto] : Normally select this. The player automatically detects wh ether the material is video-based or film-based, and switche s to the appropriate conversion method. [Video]: The conversion method suited for video-based material will always be selected regardless of the material.
17 Settings and Adjustments x [Audio DRC] [Auto] : Performs playback at the dynamic range specified by the disc (BD- ROM only). Other discs are played back at the [On] level. [On]: Performs playback at a standard compression level. [Off]: No compression works.
18 x [Internet Video U nrated] [Allow] : Allows the playback of unrated Internet videos. [Block]: Blocks the playback of unrated Internet videos. [System Settings] x [OSD] Selects on-screen display language for your player.
19 Additional Information Additional Informatio n Troubleshooting If you experience any of the following difficulties while us ing the player, use this troubleshooting guide to help remedy the problem before requesting repairs. Should any problem persist, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
20 The disc does not play. , The disc is dirty or sk ewed. , The disc is upside down. Insert the disc with the playback side facing down. , The disc has a format that c annot be played back by this pl ayer (page 22). , The player cannot play a recorded disc tha t is not correctly finalized.
21 Additional Information The System Power-Off function does not work (BRAVIA Sync). , Check that [Co ntrol for HDMI] and [HDMI: Linked to TV-off] are set to [On] (page 18) . Playback does not start from the beginning of content. , Press OPTIONS, and select [Play from beginning].
