Overview of This Guide Not ations Used in This Manual This operations guide e xplains how to carry out the most basic operations of the Sony BZNP-100 Network Player Manageme nt Software. The BZNP-100 is designed to create and manage au dio and visual content, such as commercial videos played in public plac es or educatio nal and training videos.
How to Use the Operations Guide T ry to create the follo wing demonstration content. 3 This operations guide explain s the ess ential setup that you have to do bef ore starting to use the BZNP-100 Network Player Management Software, and ho w to create a small piece of demonstration co ntent as shown on the right.
Operation Flowchart S t arting the Sof tware The following chart shows an example of the flow of normal oper ation of this system to play demonstration videos on t he street or presentation vi deos in the office. Double-click the BZNP-100 shortcut icon o n your Windows desk top.
Note: If you change the application mode or video format, a message appears after step 4, asking whether you would like to restart the software. Click [Y es]. Setting Up the Sof tware Before creating materials and playlists, there is some setup necessary: setup of the software and registration related to the NSP-100.
The following chart shows how to register an NSP-100 named “T okyo” and a network player group nam ed “Japan.” The online help and the Operating Instructions explain the procedure us ed for registering more than o ne NSP-100 and network player group.
Prep aring V ideo Material Convert the supplied A VI file correspondin g to "Video_Sample_1" into the NSP format by yourself using the follo wing procedure. Tip : There is a capturing function that enable s you to create A VI files from audio/video signal.
Prep aring Graphics Material Convert the supplied bmp file corresponding to "Graphic_Sample _1" into the NSP format by yourself using the following procedure. Notes on Using Micros oft Po werPoint Slides • Microsoft PowerPoint of Office 2000 export s full color JPEG files and 256-color bmp files.
Prep aring T ext Material Create a piece of blinking text that is t he same as the text in "T ext_Sample_ 1" using the following proce dure. Tip : The system provides some text editi ng functions, such as allowing you to use a text file instead of typing text.
10 Creating a Playlist Now , arrange the materials to make the sa me playlist as the sample. A playlist also has information on the positions of the video and te xt materials on the screen, as well as scheduling data. Note: The sample playlist is available if you are using the gr oup named "Japan" referred to earlier .

12 Sending Playlist s and Materials Y ou ca n easily send a playlist and the necess ary materials to NSP-100 network players. Use the main menu as sho wn in the following illustration. Tip : Y ou can select the desired playlist and send it with the necessary materials on the Playlist tab of the Material Management window as follows.
Checking T r ansfer S t atus and Result s Use the following proced ure to check the status and results of a playlist/mat erial transfer from the Material Management window or main menu. Now you have finished the op erations necessary to sho w the demonstration content.
Supplement 1 - Capturing V ideo If you have a VCR or camcoder connect ed via i.LINK (IEEE 1394), you can use video recorded on a tape as video material. The follo wing procedure captures audio/video signal and creates an A VI file, so you can convert it into NSP format using the same procedure shown in “Preparing Video Material” (page 7).
Supplement 2 - Urgent T ext Playout The system supports “urgent playout” that overrides ongoing pla yout and forces the network player to play a specific vi deo/graphics/text piece of material or a playlist.
Supplement 3 - Checking Network Player S tatus The following proced ure enables you to chec k the status and the remaining hard disk drive capacity of each network player in the gro up.
