11 Getti n g star ted Charging time This r epresents the time required to charge f ully depleted Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries using the supplied battery charger in an environment where the ambient temperature is 25°C (77°F ). • Charging is complete i n approximately six hours.

16 Turn ing your cam era on/off , Press POWER to turn on the camera . The POWER la mp light s in green and the powe r is on. 21 Shootin g still images • When the remaini ng number of imag es recordable is mo re than 999 9, “>9999” is indicated. Image size and quali ty You ca n choose ima ge size (num ber of pixe ls) and ima ge qu ality (com pressio n ratio) ba sed on t he kind o f images y ou wa nt to shoot.
22 Basic still image shoot ing – using auto mode , Set the mode se lector t o , and t ur n on t he camer a. The recor d ing fold er name is indi cate d on the LCD screen for a bout five seconds. • The lens cov er opens when the power is tur ned on.

35 Viewing st ill images Watching images on a TV screen If you wa nt to view im ages on a TV, you need a TV having a video in put jack and the A/V co nnecti ng cable (sup plied). The colo r syste m of the TV must match as that of your di gital still ca mera.

88 Shooting still imag es / movies The power turns off suddenly. • If you do not operate the camera for about 90 second s whil e the pow er is on , the came ra turns off automa tically to preven t wearing down the battery (wh en [Power Sa ve] is [Off], aft er three minute s.
89 Troublesh ooting The image is too bright. • You are shooti ng a spot lighted subjec t in a d ark locati o n such as on a stage. • The brightness of the LCD screen is to o high. p Adjust the e xposure (page 46 ). p Adjust the brig htness of the LC D screen (page 103).
90 Viewing im ages Deleting/editin g an image The F va lue and shutter speed flash wh en you press and hold the shutter button halfway down. • The exposure is inc orrect. p Correct t he exposur e (pa ge 46). Symptom Cause Solut ion The image ca nnot be played back.

92 “Memor y Stick” You cannot copy images. • The camera is no t co rrectly co nnected to yo ur computer. • The copy procedure dif fers depending on your OS. — p Connect the camera and your comp uter corre ctly (page 78). p Follow the copy proce dure for your OS (pages 79, 80, 84).
93 Troublesh ooting Oth ers You cannot format a “Memor y Stick.” • The write-p rotect s witch on the “ Memory Stick” is set to the LOCK posit ion. p Set it to the rec ordin g posit ion (pa ge 1 05). You have formatted a “Memor y Stick” by mistake.
