2 Own er’s R ecord The model and ser ial numbers are lo cated on the bottom. Record th e serial number in t he space provided below. Refer to thes e numbers whenever you call upon your S ony dealer regarding this product. Model No. DSC-W35/W55 Serial No.
3 [ Cleaning Unplug the set from the wall outlet befor e cleaning or polishing it . Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaner s. Use a cl oth lightly dampened with water for c leaning t he exteri or of the set.
4 Read this first Rep lace the batt ery with the sp ecif ie d typ e only. Ot herwise, fi re or inj ury ma y result. [ RECYCLING LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES Lithium-I on batteries are recyclable. You can help pr eserve our environment by r eturning your used rechargeable batter ies to the collectio n and recycling location n earest you.

8 Notes on using your camera [ I ntern al memor y and “Memory Stick Duo” back up Do not turn off the camera or remove the battery pack or “Memory Stic k Duo” while the access lamp is lighted, as the internal memory da ta or “Memory Stick Duo” data may be destroyed.

10 1 Preparing the bat tery pack 1 Insert the battery pack into th e battery ch arger. 2 Connect th e battery charger to the wall outlet (wall socket). The CHARGE lamp lights on, and charging starts. When the CHARGE lamp turns off, charging is finished (Practical charge).
11 2 Inserting the bat tery pack/a “Memory Stick Duo” (not supplied) 1 Open the battery/“Mem ory Stick Duo” cover. 2 Insert the “Memory Stick Duo” (not supplied) all the way in until it cli cks. 3 Insert the battery pack. 4 Close the battery/“Memory St ick Duo” cover.
12 [ To remove the battery pack/“Mem ory Sti ck Duo” Open the b attery/ “Mem ory Sti ck Du o” cove r. • Never remove t he battery pack/“Me mory Stick Duo” when the access lamp is l it, otherwise the da ta may be destroyed. Slide t he battery eject l ever .

14 Shootin g image s easily 1 Select a mode wi th the mo de dial. Still image (auto adjust ment mode): Select . Movie: Sel ect . 2 Hold the camera steady, keeping your arm at your side. 3 Sho ot with the shutter button. Movie: Press the shutter bu tton fully down .
15 [ Selecting the m ode dial Set the mode dial to the desire d function. : Auto Adjustment Allows ea sy shooting with the s ettings adjusted automatic ally. : Progra m Auto Allows yo u to shoot with the exposure adjusted automatically (both the shutter speed and the aperture value).
16 [ EV (Adjusting the expo sure) Press b ( ) on t he con trol bu tton, then press v / V to adjust the ex posure. Toward +: Bright ens an image. Toward –: Darkens an image.
17 Viewin g/delet ing imag es 1 Press (Playback) button. • If you press (Playback) button when the camera is powered off, the camera is turned on in the playback mode. If you press again, switches to recording mode. 2 Select an image with b / B on the control but ton.

26 Battery life an d memory c apacity Battery life and number of images that can be recorded/vie wed The tabl es show the appr oximat e number of images t hat can be r ecorde d/viewed and the batt ery.
27 Number of still images and recording time of movies The numbe r of still images an d the length of t ime for movi es may vary depending on th e shooting conditio ns and record ing medi um.
28 [ The approximat e reco rding ti me of m ovies (Units: ho ur : minute : secon d) • Movies with the size set to [6 40(Fine)] can on ly be recorded on a “ Memory Stick PRO Duo”. • Recordable movie file size is up t o approx. 2 GB for each f ile.
29 Troubl esho oting If you exper ience tr ouble with your camera, tr y the following solutions. Please u nderstand that you give you r conse nt that the cont ents o f the int ernal m emory m ay be checke d when yo u send your cam era to be repaired. The battery pack cannot be installed.
30 The bat tery rem aining i ndicato r is i ncorrect . • This phenome non occurs when you use the came ra in an extremely hot or cold locati on. • The displa yed batte ry remai ning diffe rs from t he current one. Fu lly discha rge and t hen charge the batt ery pack to correct the display.
31 Precau tion s [ Do not u se/store th e camer a in the following places • In an extremely hot, cold or humid place In places such as in a car parked in th e sun, the camera body may become deformed and this may c ause a malf unc tion .
