13 Getting start ed Charging the batte ry pack 1 Insert the battery pack into the battery charger. • You ca n charge the batter y even when it is p artially c harged.
14 Getting start ed x Charging time • The table above show s the time required t o charge a fully deplete d batter y pack at a temperature of 25°C (77 °F). Chargin g may ta ke longer de pending on conditio ns of use and circ umstances. • Connec t the battery charger to th e nearest wall outlet (wall socket ).

16 Getting start ed x Checki ng the remaining batter y charge A re maining charge indicat or appe ars on the upper left of the LCD screen. • It takes abo ut one minute unti l the correc t remainin g charge indicato r appears. • The rem aining char ge indicator may not b e correct unde r certain circ umstances.
17 Getting start ed Setting th e clock • The camera does not have a feature for supe rimposing date s on images. By usin g “PMB” in the CD-ROM (supp lied), you can print or save images wit h the date.
18 Shooting/viewin g images Sh oo ti n g/ v i ew i n g i ma g es Shooti ng ima ges 1 Lower the lens cover. The camera is turned o n. 2 Hold the camera steady as illustrated. • Slide the z oom (W /T) leve r to the T sid e to z oom. Slide to the W si de to return.

22 Detecting the shooting cond itio ns automatically (Scene Recognition) The camera au tomaticall y detects the shooti ng condi tions, and then ta kes the s hot. • Scene Reco gnition does not ope rate in (Macro On), (Close focus e nabled) or Burst mo de.
23 Using shooting functions Shooting close-ups (Macro/Close focus) You ca n shoot be autiful close-up i mages of small sub jects such as inse cts or flow ers. Using the self- timer 1 Touch (Macro ) t desir ed mode t . (Auto): The cam era adjus ts the focus aut omatically from dis tant subjec ts to clos e-up.
24 Selecting a flash mode • You cannot use (Flash On) or (Slo w Synchro) when Scene Recognition is set to [Au to] or [Advanced]. • Even wit h flas h on, th e flash m ay not operate d uring burst. 1 Touch (Flash ) t desire d mode t . (Fl ash A uto): Flashes whe n there is insufficie nt light or ba cklight (Flash On): Flash alwa ys oper ates.
25 Using shooting functions Focusing on a specific point of the frame Simply to uch the poi nt of t he frame you wish to focus on to c hange the focus position. Focusing on the face of the subject (Face Detection) The cam era det ects the fa ce of the sub ject an d focuses on it.
26 Selecting the image size to mat ch the usage The image s ize determine s the siz e of the image file th at is re corded when y o u tak e a image. The larger the image si ze, the more deta il will be reproduc ed when the image is pr inted on larg e-for mat paper .

The higher the number o f frames per sec ond, the smoothe r the playba ck ima ge.
30 x Maximum recording time The table b elow sh ows the appr o ximate maximum record ing times. These are the tot al times for all movie fi les. Continuous shootin g is possib le for approximat ely 10 minutes. (Units: hou r : minute : second) • The recor ding time may vary dependin g on the s hooting c onditions an d the re cording m edia.

37 Deleting images Deleting all im ages (Format) You ca n delete al l data stor ed on “Mem ory Stick Duo” or the intern al memo ry. If a “Mem ory Stick Duo” is ins erted, all data stored on the “M emory St ick Duo” are delet ed. If no “Memory Sti ck Duo” is inserted , a ll data stored in the inter nal memory ar e deleted.

40 Using the camer a with a c omputer x Using “PMB (Picture Motion Browser)” You can enj oy the record ed image s mor e than ev er by t aking advant age of th e soft ware, and “PM B” is incl uded on a CD- ROM (sup plied). There are more functio ns, in ad dition to those listed belo w, for enjo y ing y o ur images .
41 Connecting to other devices x Installing the “PMB” (supplied) You can install the soft w are (su pplied) usin g the following proced ure. When you install “PMB ,” “Musi c Transfer ” is also i nstalled. • Log on as Administr ator. 1 Check your computer environment .
42 x Importing images to your computer using “PMB” • Do not disconnec t the cable for multi- use termina l from the camera while the camera is oper ating or while “Acce ssing…” appears on the screen of the camera. Doing so may corrupt th e data.
