11 Getting star te d , Conne ct the power cor d (mains lead) to th e AC Adaptor and then to a wa ll outlet (wall socke t). The /CHG lamp (ora nge ) lights up when chargi ng begins, and g oes off w hen chargin g is co mp le ted. • After charging the battery pack, disconnect the A C Adaptor from the DC IN jack of your cam era .
12 Number of images and battery life that can be recorded/ viewed The tables sho w the approximate number of images and the bat tery life that can be r ecorded/ viewed when you shoot images in normal mode with a fully charged battery pack at a tem perature of 25°C ( 77°F).

When the AE /AF loc k indic ator changes from fl ashi ng to steadily lit, the camera is re ady for s ho o ti ng. (The LCD scre e n may be frozen for a spl it second de pe nding on the subj ec t.

Single AF ( ) This mode al lows accu rate fo cusi ng ov er a wide range fr om nea r to d istant subj ects, and is us e ful for sh ooti ng sta tion ary subjects.
48 Shooting techniques When shooting with the subject at the edge of the frame, the camera may focus on the center instead of on the subject at the edge of the frame. In a case li ke this, us e AF lock to f ocus on the subject, and then recompose the pi cture and shoot (except i n Continuous AF m ode).

52 Spot metering ( ) Light is meas ure d only for the spec if ic region wher e the subject is locate d. This lets you ad ju s t the exp os ure to th e subj ec t even when th e subjec t is back lit or ther e is stro ng contrast be twe en the subjec t a nd th e backgr ound.
