7 Features Chapter Overview Features The DSR-DR1000A /DR1000AP is a digital video disk recorder using the DVCAM TM digital recording format. It is the first professional DVCA M studio recorder to feature a hard disk as its recording media.
8 Features Chapter 1 Overvi ew either as channels 1 and 2 or as channels 3 and 4. The two audio channels can be output also either as channels 1 and 2 or as cha nnels 3 and 4. Compact Size The compact size of the uni t makes the unit suitable for use on a desk top or in an outsid e broadcast van.

Chapter 24 Setting the Date and Time / Setting the Ti me Data Preparations Setting the Date and Time When you start this unit for the first time, you should set the data and time. To set the date and time, use the DATE/ TIME PRESET menu. See page 72 for more information ab out basic menu operations.

Chapter 30 Recording Recording and Playback Recording This section describe s th e necessary settings and operations to perform record ing on this unit. The same settings and o perations apply whether you are using the unit as part of an editing system, for dubb ing, or as a stand- alone recorder.

32 Recording Chapter 3 Record ing and Playback • When, in 4-channel mode, analog audio is selected for all four channels (chann els 1/2 and 3/4), the sam e analog audio signals are r ecorded on channels 1 and 3 and on channels 2 and 4, respectively.

34 Playback Chapter 3 Record ing and Playback Recor ding Continuousl y by Overwriting Old Content (Continuous Recor ding) Continuous recordin g allows yo u to continue recording for extended periods by overwriting older recorded content. To perform continuo us recording, you need to set the REC MODE menu item (see page 62) to CONT.

Chapter 42 Clips Clip Operations Clips Data recorded on the hard disk of this unit is managed in units of clips. The secti on from the recording start point (Rec In) to the recording end point (Rec Out) is defined as a single clip and automatically assigned a clip name.

45 Working wi th Playlist s Chapter 4 Clip Operations Working with Playlists Scenes that you define within clips by setting In and Out points are assign ed numbers in the order of creati on and displayed in playl ists. In playlists, you can reset In and Out points , sort scenes in different orders, and add new scenes.
