20 5 The CHG (charge) lamp turns off when the bat tery is full y char ged. Disconnect the A C Adaptor from the DC IN jack on your camcorder . • Disconnect the A C Adaptor holding both your camcorder and the DC plug. T o remove the ba ttery pack Slide the PO WER switch to OFF (CHG).
21 Gett ing S tarte d On the batte ry pa ck • Before changing the battery pack, s lide the PO WER switch to OFF (CHG). • The CHG (charge) lamp fl ashes during charging, or BA TTERY INFO (p.45) wil l not be correctly displayed under the f ollowing conditions.

23 Gett ing S tarte d Open th e LCD scr een 90 degree s to the camcorde r ( 1 ), then rota te it to the b est ang le to re cord or pl ay ( 2 ). • Be careful not to press the buttons on the LCD frame accidentally when you open or adjust the LCD screen.

28 • After you r camcorder recognizes the dis c, disc information such as the date you st arted to use it and information on previously recorded ar eas appears for about 8 seconds. The information on previously recorded areas may not be displayed correctly depending on t he condition of the dis c.
29 Gett ing S tarte d By record ing in the 16 :9 (wi de) mode , you can enjoy wide -angle, hig h-resolut ion picture s. • If you intend to view pictures on a wide TV , recording in the 16:9 (wide) mode is recommended. 1 Slide the PO WER switch in the directi on of the arr ow to light up the (Movie) lamp.

59 Using th e Recorded disc (DVD -RW/DVD +RW) Y ou can recor d additio nal materi al on the finalized D VD-R Ws (VIDEO mode)/ D VD+RWs by follo wing the steps be low if ther e is spa ce to reco rd on the disc. When usin g the fin alized D VD-R W (V R mode) di sc, y ou can rec ord ad ditional material on th e disc without any additional steps.
60 Formatting m akes the record ed disc new and reusable by deleting all the da ta recorded on the disc. The reco rding capaci ty of the disc is reco ver ed by format ting it.
61 Using th e Recorded disc (DVD -RW/DVD +RW) • During the Easy Handycam operation (p.31), the screen in step 5 does not appear ev en if you insert a DVD- RW in your camcorder . Proceed to step 7 . • Y ou cannot format a dis c that has been pr otected on other de vices.

68 Auto ma tical ly act ivates the elect roni c shutter to adjust t he shutter speed when recording in brig ht cond itions if you set it to [ON] (th e default setting) . Y ou can select a nd adj ust th e focal point to aim it at a s ubject not lo cated in the center o f the screen .
69 Usin g the Set up items • The redeye reduction may not prod uce the desired ef fect due to individual differences and other conditions. • The setting returns to [OFF] when you set the POWER switch to OFF (CHG) for more than 12 hours. Y ou can rec ord pictu res at a maxim um of 16 times the sensitivity of Ni ghtShot in dar k places .
