34 To turn on the player Press POWER on the player. The playe r enters standb y mode and the po wer indicator light s up i n red. Press ?/1 o n the remote. Th e player turns on and the power indicator l ights up in green. In stand by mode, the play er also turns on by pressing A on the player or by pressing H .
35 Playing D iscs z The Repl ay function is useful w hen you want to review a scene or dia log th at you missed. z Before loadin g the d isc s, a D I SC SE LE CT indicator of an e mpty com partment may be lit. Notes • You may not be able to use the Replay function with some scen es .
36 Resum ing Pla yback f rom the Po int Wh ere Yo u Stop pe d the D isc (Re sume Play) When yo u stop the disc, the player remembers the po int where you presse d x and “ RESUME ” appea r s on the front pan el displ a y. As long as you do not remo ve the disc, Resume Play works even if th e pl ayer enters stan dby mo de b y pres sing ?/1 .
37 Playing D iscs Usin g the D VD’s M enu A DVD is divid ed into long sectio ns of a picture o r a musi c feature called “ titles. ” When you play a DVD which contains several title s, you can selec t the title you want usin g the TO P MENU butto n.
38 3 Press X/x to select the setting. • PLAY LIST: plays the titles created from “ ORIGINAL ” for editing. • ORIGINAL: plays the titles origin ally recorded. 4 Press EN TER. To turn off the Co ntrol Menu Press DISPLAY repeatedly u ntil the Con trol Menu is turned off.

Press SACD /C D in stop mode . Each time you press th e button, an HD lay er or a CD layer is alternatel y selected.

56 Sound Adjustme nts Changi ng the Sound If the DVD VIDEO is recorded with multilin gual tracks, yo u can select the language y ou want whil e pl aying the DV D VIDEO. If the DVD VIDEO is recorded in multiple audio fo rmats (PCM, Dolby Digital, or DTS), you can sel ect the aud io format yo u want while playing the DVD VIDEO.
57 Sound Adjustments z You can select “ AUDIO ” direct ly by pr e ssin g AUDIO. Each time you press the button, the i tem chang es . Notes • While playing a DVD , the soun d may change automat ically . • You cannot change t he sound f or SACDs.
58 • DTS When an LFE si gnal co mponent is output , “ LFE ” is enclosed in a sol id line. When an LFE signal com ponen t is no t outp ut, “ LFE ” is enclose d in a broken lin e. z When th e signal contains rear signal component s such a s “ LS, ” “ RS ” or “ S, ” the Surround effe ct is enhanced (p ag e 58).

60 TVS STANDARD Uses s ound i maging to c reate vi rtual rear speakers fro m the sound of the front speakers (L, R) withou t using ac tual rear sp eakers. The virtual speak ers are reproduce d as shown in the illustration below. Use this setting when you want to use TVS with 2 separ ate speake rs and retain the soun d qua lity .
61 Sound Adjustments VIRTUAL MULTI REAR Uses sound imagi ng to create an array of virtual rear speak ers from a single pair of actual rear sp eakers. The virtual spea kers are reproduced as shown in the illu st ration below.
