While play ing a disc, an appr oximate bit rate of the pla yback pictu re is alw ays disp layed a s Mbps (M ega bit per s econd ) and th e audio as kbps (kilo bit p er seco nd).
Sound Adjustments 49 Sound Adjustm ents Changi ng the Soun d If the DVD is recorded with mu ltilingual tracks, you can sel ect the languag e you want while playing the DVD. If the DVD is recorded in m ultiple aud io formats (PCM , Dolby Digita l, or DTS), you can select the au dio format you w ant while playin g the DVD.
50 When yo u sel ect “ AUDIO, ” the chan nel s being pl ayed are displayed on the screen. For exampl e, in Dol by Digital fo rmat, multiple si gnals ranging fro m monaura l to 5.1 channe l signals can be reco rded on a DVD. Depending on the DVD, the numbe r of the recorded channels may differ.
Sound Adjustments 51 TV Virt ual Surround Soun d Setti ngs (TVS) When you conn ect a stereo TV or 2 front speakers, TV Virt ual Su rround l ets yo u enjoy surround sound effe cts by usi ng sound imaging to crea te virtual rear speake rs from the sound of the front speak ers (L: left, R: right) without using act ual rear sp eakers.
52 TVS (TV Virt ual Surrou nd) WIDE Uses s ound imaging to c reate virtua l rea r speakers fro m the soun d of the fro nt speakers (L/R) without using actual rear speakers. The virtual speak ers are reproduce d as shown in the illustra tion below. This give s the sound an expan ded effect that f ills the ar ea surrounding the listen er.
